When I heard these speakers and saw their price, I could not resist buying them, even though I was not in the market for new speakers. They are very efficient with a clear sound in the highs and midranges. Played with a subwoofer would add fullness to their sound. I got them at Costco (a wearhouse store) for $200 each (brand new of course), about the cost of Infinity's smaller Studio Monitor series. They list for $599 each.
For what I paid, these speakers should get six stars!

I happened upon these speakers at Costco for $400 a pair. I have had good experience with Infinity in the past and my Polk Studio Monitors were aging after 6 years of good use and roommate abuse. I am extremely happy I was able to fit these in my car (hint: borrow a truck, they are bigger than they look). I got them home and set them up after listening to my Polks for reference. For the money I am extremely impressed with these speakers. The efficency is frightening, I now get about 50% more volume per marking on the dial than with the Polks, and these speakers have brought out subtleties in music I previously missed. I have since subjected these to a range of music from Classical to hard industrial.
I used to have to bring up the bass on my Polk speakers to pull the low end out. With the Infinity I found that the sound is exceptional with the receiver set flat. Response is very good across the board, and the bass could cause structural damage if used excessively. No subwoofer is required with these speakers, rated at a 29 Hz low end response.

The only deficency I have found in these speakers is their efficency. It is necessary to set the volume by hand on the receiver because the remote will only adjust between quiet, loud, and over-powering. Since I have a digital satelite dish, I need to use an antenna to pick up the broadcast networks. Listening to the broadcast networks I was annoyed by being able to hear a low static and other distortions I had previously missed. Listening to the Dish with the digital sound is a rewarding experience, and I am looking towards my first opportunity to listen to a good action movie with these speakers.

A must buy for the price. Run out and get them while you still can

I bought a pair of these beauties two years ago and could not be happier. Musically they are fantastic from a Chopin Nocturne to Rage Against the Machine. I was so impressed I matched the SM Video center and some SM65's in the back. After viewing (make that experiencing) 50 DVD's on my system, I would buy the whole set all over again without a moments hesitation.
Highly reccomended.

I bought these speakers at Costco two months ago for $400 for the pair. I didn't need them, but couldn't resist when I saw the price and checked into their retail price. Now that I have been listening to them they are definitely worth the $400.

I bought this speakers for 6500 swedish krons and i am quite satisfied. The elements are very good, but the boxes are very instable. I have now
made them more solid, with glue and wood. I have also put damping material
inside and the difference was like day and night. I have a Marantz PM78 and
it makes them rock as hell.I give them 3 stars from the beginning but if you modify them they can gett 5.

These speakers ROCK! I listen to eveything from "Erbharm Dich" by Bach, to Satriani and AC/DC. I have had two pair of these, (152's in past.... got water damaged in basement...) and other SM smallers in earlier days. Bang for the Buck, I cannot see you purchasing a better quality sound. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone with these, to purchase a really good Integrated Amp of good rating. You will never regret how stellar the performance of these are with plenty of clean power.... (like the Parasound HCA 1200II I use, which makes the 155's SCREAM!) ENJOY!

I just got these speakers the other day from ubid.com , and they are amazing. Forget about needing a sub, unless bass is all that you want. they sound so clear that you can almost see the person singing in front of you. If I had the money, I would have paid over a thousand dollars for them, but I got them for $150, maybe the smartest money that I have ever spent. I highly reccomend these to anyone.

I just got my new Energy C8's to compliment my Energy AC300 (Center), Energy RVSS (Rear), Energy EXLR (Front Effect), after switching from the Infinity SM155 to the Energy C8's I noticed a BIG difference, first, the Energy C8's are MUCH more quieter, they are rated at 93db, while the Infinity's are rated at 102db, after messuring the SPL of the speakers, it was clearly evident that i had to reduce the volume of my center, rears and my front effects to match the C8's after doing so, i found a sound that was most conforting. After comparing the two, i found the Energy's to be more defined, more smoother, and add much more detail and depth than the Infinity's. But for movies, the Infinity's just won hands down, its effiency is so amazing, these speakers are so much more louder than the Energy's and they do not distort, at 9db more, thats about double the loudness at the same wolume level and wattage. This gave the movie much much more impact. I was very disatisfied with the Energy's in movies. I know the center and fronts have to match, but the infinity's were much more better for movies with the setup than the C8's keep in mind, the Energy C8's are a much higher priced speaker, taking off the grille, it appears so, but close your eyes, and have each speaker next to each other, its hard to tell, and in the movies case, the infinity's sound better, due to its higher effiency. I might return the C8's cause i was expecting more from this speaker than I got.

Strength:

Most efficient main speaker I have ever used.

I bought these 155s (SM 65s in the rear and an SM center) to go along with a Yamaha 890. Now I'm switching to an Onkyo 777 but my speakers are going along with me. Though the room I have them in is too small for that much power, the clarity is astonishing. Movies come alive and you get lost in the music. These are a much better deal than similar Polk Audio and Paradigm.
