The highs are clear and crisp, the mids are tonal with no discernable distortion, the lows are warm and smooth. People are expecting 15" earth shaking bass from 6" drivers, never going to happen. They are on point in every sound detail. My other speakers are Klipsch, PSB, Polk, KEF, SVS, these sound just as good as any of those brands.

The grills are a bit cheap.

picked up a pr. of these RS5's for $25.00 on craigslist. One of the tweeters did not work at all, a simple replacement tweeter from Harmon/infinity and for about $75.00, I have a very decent set of speakers. I use them for music only as mans in a small room and they are wonderfully for my ears. I am not an audiophile type but for most of us average listeners, they are way above average. Could not be happier.

Excellent speakers with great detail. Very nice slim cabinet, can really handle the low end with ease as well. I've been using them as my fronts and rears for HT system and love the sound of them. They sure looks sexy with their covers off:)

Damn fine crisp lows that I''ve always enjoyed with Infinity speakers.

The high-end is usualy crisp but not always the fullest. You typically have to add another couple thousand $$ to get noticably better sound.

I have read several reviews on the RS-5''s and see mention of lacking bass. I''ve paired these speakers up with a couple different AV receivers and at one point was going to look into adding a sub. But then I picked up a Sony STR-DE635 AV receiver and went from analog to digital connection to the DVD/CD player. I have the speakers approximately 4" from the wall and have noticed a huge difference in quality of sound. Obviously this is not a high-end peice of equipment but it seems to pair up fairly well with the Infinity speakers. Previously I had a Kenwood AV receiver attached, which would make $10,000 speakers sound like crap. The bass response and dynamics of these speakers were enough to have the landlord knock on my door and tell me I was shaking windows in a building 50 yards away (my windows/doors were shut) and yet we were able to carry on a conversation without having to turning down the volume.

I finally settled on these along with a cc3 center, bu 120 sub and rs3's for rears. I listened to Polk, Boston, and Klipsch. I agonized over the purchase process more than I expected. Did a good bit of shopping around but found the only true test was when I was able to assemble systems side-by-side in my own home (need to work with retailers that have good return policies). I found the acoustics of the space you use really makes a difference. Take a few days, not one Saturday. Listen, sleep on it and listen again.

You have to close your eyes and have someone else switch between the options. Your ears can't deceive you. Based on the test of my listening and every member of my family, there was just no denying the overwhelming preference for the sound of the Infinitys. A sub adds more than enough base - shakes the doors, windows and whole house. I've also hung and angled the rs-3s in the rear. Teamed with my new Yamaha digital receiver this system sounds fabulous. Its not only a great HT system - music sounds excellent as well. I ended up settling on the rs5's as the fronts (a little more speaker than I set out to get) for this reason -I thought they sounded the best with music. The Polks have nice midrange and are punchy, but the lacking at the high end was just not adequate. The Klipsch 3.1 is an excellent speaker and I actually liked it best for short listening stints. Great to crank a rock tune and take me back to my college days. But I found them a bit annoying to listen to for very long or to appreciate more subltle jazz or classical. The horn is too harsh at high volume for extended periods.

I was able to get the Infinitys at quite deep discounts from Video Only. Got the rs5's for $350/pr. and the rs3's for $200/pr. I sense Infinity is looking to come out with a new line in the next few months, hence the sales. This is a good time to bargain these great speakers down. As you read on you'll see people who paid 5 to $600 a pair for the rs5's just a year or so ago. enjoy

I bought these speakers of Netmarket a while back for $400. I went there recently and there are no Infinity speakers...what gives? Speakers are very clean sounding...Warm mids and tingly highs. I read in some other reviews that the bass was lacking. It seemed fine to me, but I have them in a small living room. Review could be longer..but I agree with most of the opions previous to mine, except for the complaints about bass.

Replacing 25 year old Infinity floor standers. Had the magnificent Walsh tweeter cone for highs, but bass required really driving speakers as very inefficient design. Very impressed with the RS5's, but was skeptical at Circuit City when saw the only two 6.5's speakers driving this system!!! However compared against a comparable Polk system, and the Infinity's blew them away. I paid $500 for pair, probably not a great deal, but I think worth it so far. Sound great for not only music, but also fantastic in home theatre setup. I thought maybe Infinity had changed over 25 years (for the worse), but so far very impressed, and quality seems high. Highly recommend! And as far I am concerned plenty of clean base, at all volume levels.

I bought the RS-5's after reading the reviews here. I got them at Circuit City for $419 with tax. I listened to them for about an hour in the store and compared them to some Polk audio's and bose. The Infinity's sounded much cleaner. If you are looking for really good speakers and dont want to spend alot of money deffinitely consider these. They are being discontinued and Infinity is instituting some big price increases. They even sounded better when I got them home I have them connected to a old Pioneer 2 channel stereo reciever and I was really Impressed with how great they sounded. I am looking forward to getting a new reciever so I can really try them out. I hope this helps someone.

Been using these for about 2 months with a matching CC-3 center channel and could not be happier. There have been some posts about lack of bass but I find it more than enough. Nothing can replace a good subwoofer and just because the bass is not boomy, it does not mean it is not there. The response is tight and does well for most music and movies. I live in an apartment and these are loud enough to feel through the floor and couch without having to turn the volume up all that much. The spiked feet make small adjusments in positioning a pain, but once there set, they won't move (or get moved when you wife is cleaning house). For the price, these speakers sound great and no one should be disappointed with them. You have to hear them in your home. When I listened to them at Circuit City, they seemed flat, without bass (most of the speakers except the high end powered models also did). It is a much different story at home.
