Strength:

Good Sound, small size, attractive appearance

Weakness:

bass could be a little better

These speakers are a nice complement to a small system. They have good musicality for the money. I am pleased with their performance.

Strength:

Tight Bass Response, Tuned Output, Nice Sweet Spots, Compliment the Midnight mode of my recently purchased Pioneer VSX-509S (5.1 TUNER, 500W total output)

Weakness:

Efficiency lost in the name of clarity, but that really isn't a weakness if it's cleaner, now is it??

I took my CD changer cartridge in hand and went into Oxnard's Harmon Audio Outlet (Infinity, JBL, Harmon/Kardan, etc) And let one thing make my decision for me. What I heard. (Okay, so did the less-than $$$) I found the RS2's to have a punchier bass output than the RS3's and more than enough treble to make my ears hurt. Although less crisp bass than the paper coned equivalent, they seemed to have a build quality that would take some abuse. I first bought 3 RS2's and went back a few weeks later to pickup 2 more so I could run stereo in A/B mode and have 5 matched channels for DTS/dolby. This was a good move on my part. Night and day over mixing different speaker types. In addition, The power output while running two pairs of speakers is theoretically system optimal which was cool. I was previously using some KLH AV4001's (3 ways, 12/5.5/1) as my mains and found
that they overwhelmed the RS2's when run in series. I can't believe I put up with those cruddy sounding KLH speaker for so long. I found the power handling to be somewhat less than expected for the RS2's but the overall balance on the output side and more tuned, more pleasing sound far outweighed the lack of efficient power handling. Perfect for my small time home theatre system. Will be adding a 150W 12" infinity sub for the 80Hz and under stuff.

I think much of it has to do with the pioneer VSX-509S's MIDNIGHT mode and my love of bass. But recently, I can't seem to un-glue my butt from my listening position. Very nice imaging.
