Even though these speakers are small, they deliver surprisingly good sound. But there are limitations to speakers of this size. The sound is somewhat flat, and the bass is not the best(but still pretty good).
But for the price these speakers are good. I wouldn't buy these except for surround speakers.

Since I started reading the various reviews on the various audio equipment, I've come to realise how much PERSONAL PREFERENCE comes into play. I've seen people who say they are Audiophiles express totally opposite opinions on the merits of a particular speaker system. For me the RS-2 and RS-3 was exactly what I was looking for. The sound has been perfect with my Denon AVR-2800. Coupled with my CC-3 for the center I am extremely happy. I love the bass because I love to hear bass, plus I can always turn it down if I want to. What I hate is not being able to hear enough base. The mids are clean and distinct and the top end is crisp. I had a set of M&K speakers which I think had a more realistic sound, (these were a classic) but I didn't want to plays a set of 4 ohms speakers on my set, because it wasn't recommended. I love my Infinitys and I'm extremely happy playing movies or music!! By the way I kept the M&K sub Woofer.

Strength:

crisp sound, decent bass, looks nice

Weakness:

bright; lack of midrange

ok, first the good: Even though these arent very accurate speakers, the brightness really brings out acoustic guitars and cymbals. Bass is good for its size. Its sound characteristics are similar to Kenwood & Infinity car speakers, probably because of its polycarbonate tweeters. This could be a bad or good thing for you, but for me it was bad because i use this thing mostly for movies.

The bad: This thing doesnt match very well w/ spkrs from other line/brands. Its brightness stands out when paired with most center spkrs. Before, i had a Polk cs245 for a center(which is a pretty warm sounding speaker), and the Infinities stuck out like a sore thumb. I sold the polk and bought a JBL S-center hoping it would be a closer match. Well its not as warm as the polk, but the Infinities still sticks out sometimes when im watching movies. Oh and did i mention this thing has next to no midrange? or perhaps its tweeter is so glaring that any midrange coming from these speakers are masked.

Ive been breaking this thing in for about a year now. Still sounds about the same. Build quality looks prety good on this thing and still in fine shape. It even still has the new speaker smell on it. But im probably going to sell it soon and get me some Paradigm mini-monitors. Let me know if any of u guys wants to buy the RS2 from me. Especially any of you in the Sourthern California area. Ill sell them for under 100 for sure.

These are some of the finest speakers in this price range there sound is warm and smooth, but because of the 1/2 PTC tweeter the sound is not the best it could be, power handling and bass response is excelent but because of the 87db sensitivity they reqire large amounts of power. A great home theater speaker.

Nice speakers for the price. $125 at P.C. Richards. (They made me an offer I couldn't refuse, followed me out to the parking lot)
Sound very good. A little flat as compared with my RS3's, but I'm only using the 2's as surrounds, which they do nicely.

I ordered the CC2 center channel a couple days ago, just received it this minute. I went to a local retailer also. I compared the CC2 and CC3. They sounded completely different. The retailer had a funky hookup that messed considerably with the signals to the speakers. It somehow converted multichannel sound into mono to audition these centers. I knew this was incorrect, that the differences were only in the tweeters. I then auditioned the differences between the RS 3 and the RS 2. They are in the same boat, by the main difference only being the tweeter. What I've found is the RS 3 has a bit more lower bass. This can be expected since the cabinet is slightly larger than the RS 2's. The difference in the highs was not staggering, but different. The overall tone was the same. The silk dome of the RS 3 was more dynamic. It was able to delivery slightly more detail in cymbals. The .5" polycarbonate tweeter of the RS 2s was more limited in the treble. It's sound was a bit more compressed. It's cymbal tones tended to be at the same output level. The silk dome was better on it's output on these cymbols changes, with varying sound level differences. It was able to squeeze that little bit of detail out by the added dynamics, which could make those details stand out through their quicker transients. Those transients had a clearly louder output than the rest of the frequencies that were produced by those cymbols. This difference in the tweeters was very slight. Music with alot of highs had to be used to hear a good difference. Overall, I would say these silk domes are worth $25 more per speaker. Over that, I believe the polycarbonate tweeter is a better buy. The RS 2 can be had for $200 from crutchfield. The RS 3 are $299. The RS 2 for $200 are a bargain. I would purchase these.

Got 4 on UBid for $50/ea. Without a doubt the finest $50 speaker I've ever heard.
Use these as home theatre. Got rid of Klipsch Heresies, Advent something or others. I VERY MUCH prefer the Infinity R2s.

I use 2 for center channel, 1 each for left and right channels. Have a 12" JBL subwoofer and 2 KLH 50s as surrounds, and a Kenwood 300 amp.

They do eat a lot of power. The volume they produce however is enough to make my ears hurt (this is the level my teenagers like to play them at).

The sound is exteremely clear and detailed. The sound field is very well defined. Highs, lows and mid-ranges are handled with smoothness and there is no emphasis at any level. Very flat response. The tone is slightly warm. There is no tinny quality to the highs -- they are very crisp. The bass is surprisingly authoritative for a speaker this size...nice full reproduction down to 50Hz. I keep the crossover on the sub tuned very low as a result.

I'd have been just as happy to pay $100+/ea for the quality I got. I have never known anybody to pay retail for any speaker anywhere. I'd bid for these up to 100 if they ever show up on UBid.

Strength:

For the size, fantastic all around sound.

Weakness:

Sucks up power, very little bass (still more than you would expect. Not the cheapest pair of speakers around.

For the size, it's hard to imagine a much better sounding speaker for the price. The bass isn't much to speak of, but better than you would expect. Midrange is excellent, the highs are pretty good. There are better speakers out there, but they're all larger. I used these as my fronts for a few years until I upgraded, now they're performing great as my rears.
These little babies suck up power. Don't be expecting to get any kind of performance without a good receiver. The cone is some sort of wacky design that optimizes sound in a small size, but as a result needs a lot of power (relatively speaking).
An all around good pair of speakers for those who are concerned about getting the best performance within a certain size.

Strength:

Very good sound.

Weakness:

None

Just received these and they sound great!! I bought them along with a CC-3 Center Channel and I couldn't be happier. I am using them as satelites, while I use my Cerwin Vega D5 as the main speakers. I hooked them up as mains to test them and they could definatly be used as mains. I may buy another set to use up front! These are worth buying. Definatly better than the KLH "freebies" that I got from Best Buy some 5 years ago. Don't know why I waited so long.

Weakness:

Distortion When Listening to Dr.DRE Whats the Diffrence with bass all the way up For God Sakes Turn The Bass Down

These Are great, with Chuck Mangione Feels so good or Jay-Z Can I get a..., trust me I've listened to both, Purchased at Circuit City for $140 Out of box a great value I diden't even have to break them in. Right now there hooked up to a Kenwood reciever, Akai tape, and Nakimichi CD. If a little lacking on bass but still great for a 6 1/2". in a month I plan on adding a Acoustic Research S108PS sub. I love these if you can find them buy them before this legacy is over.
