Plays loud and bass heavy
Weakness:
Porbably not good in 2 channel mode I just recently bought these on ebay. I think these speakers are getting a little abused by these other people. I really don't think these are worth the $1700 retail, but they are decent speakers. I'm am glad I only got these for $500. I replaced my aging Kenwood rack system, so these sound a whole lot better than those. I mainly use this for my HT setup. I don't listen to a lot of music. Fortunately in HT, you don't have to rely on imaging and clarity. All you have to do is turn it up and be loud. Bass is very loud, yet boomy. Kinda obnoxious. It is a little cheapy looking, but overall I am satisfied with these speakers for my personal purpose. If I were into 2 channel stereo music, I think I might be disappointed. I do play a little classical and jazz, and these aren't the cleanest speakers out there. Similar Products Used: Kenwood Pioneer Onkyo |

My wife thinks they sound ok I don't
Weakness:
I think these sound like bookshlef speakers with a seperate subwoofer. Not very musical or clean sounding. Good for cranking it up-perfect for our son. After reading all these bad reviews, I really don't know what to say. My husband and I bought these speakers a couple of months back. We have had friends tell us about this board, so I decided to check it out. Overall I am somewhat satisfied with these speakers, but my husband is not. He feels that these speakers don't sound as good as his old Klipsch's. I will agree on that, but these sound good to me. But honestly I couldn't tell the difference between a shelf system speaker and a reference speaker. Overall, thse speakers do the trick. Will we keep these speakers for life? Probably not. This is Jim Thomas now. That was my wife earlier. I just want to comment that I am not utterly satisfied with these speakers. I just got rid of my old Klipsch speakers to our son who went to college recently. He needed speakers for his dorm room, so we gave them to him. He suggested that we try out these Infinity speakers. Well, to our dismay, we are not happy with out purchase. I think when our son gets back from college during Christmas break, we are going to get the Klipsch's back and I will let him have these. I know they will be a little large for his dorm room, but hopefully he will be moving into an apartment next year. Similar Products Used: Klipsch (my favorite speakers) I want them back. I have these hooked up to my Adcom and Krell components. |

Horrible speakers
Weakness:
Horrible speakers Cheap looking and feeling These speakers are horrible. Enough said. I wish I could get my money back. I have had quality problems from day 1. My amp has been cutting out on the subwoofer. The speakers sound muddled and blown(from the 1st day I received them). And the cabinet rattles. Not what I expected from these speakers. Buyer beware. These are not worth the asking price. Stay away. I have also notice many other people complaining about these speakers. Infinity should give us all our money back. Hey guys, we supplied the vaseline on this one. If you have these speakers and don't have problems yet...just wait. Only time will tell. It's just a matter of time before the straw breaks the camels back. Similar Products Used: I would not own another pair of Infinity/Harmon Kardon/JBL speakers. Anything under the Harmon Int. unbrella is crap to me. |

Speakers actually sound OK
Weakness:
Price Sound Quality I kinda wish I had never bought these speakers. I recently heard my friends speakers, and I am jealous now. I thought these speakers sounded ok, but now I realize what awesome speakers sound like, and these are not it. Don't get me wrong, these are good speakers, just not the caliber of my friends. He has the whole Polk LSi series. The LSi25's in the front, the LSiC center, and for the rears, he has the LSi9's. Those speakers are awesome. They blow mine out of the water. I have decided to sell these speakers and get a set of the Polk's. My current system consists of the IL50's for the front, the IL25 center, and the IL10's for the rear. All black. I will be selling the whole set on ebay shortly for about $1500 bucks if anyone is interested. I have decided to upgrade with all Polk. Similar Products Used: Polk speakers |

I like hip hop music, so boomy bass is a plus for me. Maybe not for other people
Weakness:
Price seems a little high for these speakers Highs and mids are very harsh I actually have not bought these speakers, but I did audition these at a store along with some Paradigms, Klipsch, Polks, and Bostons. These speakers sound pretty good. Just not as good as the other speakers I mentioned. The bass response is good...very loud and boomy. I think the highs and midrange seem a little harsh, but overall the sound was good. I would rate these speakers a 5 out of 10. My top two choices are the Paradigms and Polks. Then the Klipsch, Bostons, and last but not least the Infinity's. I have not yet bought speakers yet. I am still deciding. I would not, however, recommend these over the Paradigms, Polks, Klipschs, and Bostons. Spend a little more and get real audiophile speakers. Solid construction, sound good if all you want to do is crank it up with a lot of distortion(rock music)
Weakness:
Sound, cheap plastic parts, price, not good for audiophile music I tend to agree with some of these reveiws where it states that these speakers are too boomy and sound very "cheap". I bought these speakers on uBid a couple of months ago, because I thought it was such a good deal. Well, now I think I was wrong. I guess the reason ubid had so many of these is because Infinity or any other retailer couldn't sell them for the retail price of $1700.00(You gotta be kidding) These speakers sound ok if you just want to crank it up and not care about disortion or your ears, but for true home thater or music(DVD audio) these speakers aren't that good. I thought I was upgrading from Bose, but I wish I kept my Bose system. I know Bose isn't the greatest, but at least they are better than these. Unfortunately I didn't test these speakers out before I bought them. I would have bought something else, but ubid had them for such a low price(and now I know why) I couldn't pass it down(wish I did). A couple of friends told me to get the rabos thing, but I heard that is only for the boominess in the bass. It won't help the imaging or clarity. These are really midrange heavy. No real clarity involved. I thought my Bose was too bright, but these are worse to the ears. I am running these speakers off of a Yamaha receiver, so I know it isn't the receiver. Overall, my impression are...Are they worth $1700.00- HELL NO....Are they worth the $600.00 I paid...still NOPE. But they do have their good points....if there are any. They are actually good looking speakers. They do look a little cheap in some regards, but they are solid. The plastic feet and the speaker plastic surrounding is very flimsy. I will probably keep these for a little while until I can find someone(sucker) to buy them. Then I will probably go with some better speakers. My wife thinks I should just send them back to ubid, but not sure if they would take them back. Similar Products Used: Bose, Yamaha, Sony, and many more. |

Great bass. I'm over 50 but I ain't deaf yet. Even the deaf could fee this bass.
Weakness:
Such a crappy design for the bass boost. The power light is also a little wheel with 0 thru 10 on it, but its hard to read and harder yet to turn. Could have made them just a bit bigger or a know on the back would have done better. For a paltry $462 this is about as good as speakers get. They were supposed to be 'refurbished' but I have my doubts about that. The bass is what many think is the weakest link in these speakers, but I have to think those who think that are tone deaf or haven't figured out how to turn on the bass amp and adjust the bass output. These things rock, and they ain't even broke in yet! I can't wait til they are. Sure sounds good on my old Sony AV900. The new Harman Kardon AV520 comes tomorro, can't wait for that! I may get the IL30 for the back corner for HT. The purchase price includes shipping, by the way. What a deal Similar Products Used: Bose 501(crap) JBL, Polk, Radio shock (real crap). |

Weakness:
Too boomy - bass is not tight and accurate Not as "audiophile" as one would think. Cheap looking and feeling This is just an over rated boombox. Not very clean sounding. I have used many speakers before and the bass is too boomy...not tight and accurate. I've tried the RABOS system, and it doesn't work. All a marketing GIMMICK! The plastic on the front cover where the dial a boost is...looks and feels very cheap and not well constructed. I think the midrange is far too exagerated and the highs are not very crisp. Also, I've had quality problems with my speakers as well. The amps in the subwoofer have overheated and cut off a couple of times. Took it in to get repaired. These speakers aren't worth their packing material. In my opinion, go with some other speakers such as Paradigm, Klipsch, or Polk. I have the whole interlude setup right now. I am definitely going to be getting rid of these speakers soon on ebay. I guess this is just a lesson in life. I will definitely be losing my a$$ on these speakers. Don't waste your time one these. Bottom line- I paid too much for these Walmart quality speakers. I just want to warn potential customers thats I have not had a good experience with these speakers. Others may have...just beware... Strength:
Good overall speaker for the money. Sound excellent when music is from a good source.
Weakness:
They seem to lack on mid's, though with a good source it isn't as noticable. The subwoofer response isn't as good as you would think it should be (AR5's=22Hz / IL50's=32Hz both are 10") Cabinets could be alot nicer for the money, what ever happened to craftmanship ? I bought these speakers by chance, I scored a pair of new AR5's for 516pr including shipping and did something nice/stupid I let a friend buy them from me, which afterwards I decieded I wanted a pair and the only speaker reasonably priced at the time was the Infinity IL50. I wasn't sure if I liked them at first, using a VSX26 THX Elite receiver that I bought to resell. I bought a Pioneer SX-1250 160wpc receiver to use and it needed to be in the shop for some resoldering. I used the Elite for a week with the IL50's, and though it was alright (I don't do alot of home theater)...I got the vintage SX-1250 on friday and it was repaired very well, it sounds GREAT and the speakers sound a whole lot better too !!! I've been listening almost non-stop from anything like Dire Straights to Moody Blues, Classical to Little River Band... ZZ Top, Jethro Tull to Jackson Browne and everything between, Jazz, Rock, Blues... And even the stereo FM tuner is excellent...The music coming from an excelent source is a real big difference, I must say their definetly was a break in period for the Infinity's, I was listening last night pushing between 35-45 to 65-75 true clean watts and these speakers, At that moment I never heard another better sounding speaker, though I know thier out there. Thank's for letting me give this truly honest review, I'm like most here I wouldn't pay too much for these IL50's (I paid 529.00 + 45.00 shipping at ebay)There is better speakers for the money though for 575.00 I can't beet them as of yet, though I'm sure I'll try. Incredible bass from a tower speaker. Clear, crisp, warm sound. Everyone loves the beautiful enclosures. Can order different color grilles if you get tired of platinum.
Weakness:
Heavy! But most good speakers are. These are without a doubt the best speakers I have ever purchased. They look as good as they sound, warm high's and thunderous bass, which I had to turn back to keep the pictures from falling off the walls. I bought two sets of these babies, can't wait to hear them on a home theatre setup. I also called Infinity about the warranty since I had purchased these through an auction. He advised no problem, they will honor the warranty as long as I have a receipt. I also asked him if the interludes have been discontinued and he said no, they are still manufacturing them.
