I recently purchased a pair of these speakers from Crutchfield for $1000.00.To say that I was really impressed is an understatment. These speakers are about as small as a shoebox and put out way more bass than speakers 3 times their size. They will play extremely loud even with a crappy amp. I am very pleased with my purchase and will continue to buy Infinity products in the future.

I am a hearing impaired 67 year old male about to purchase a pair of Overature 1's for listening to all sorts of music, from opera to easy listening. My hearing was damaged years ago in the budding of "HI FI", and then "STEREO". I played it rreal loud and am noe paying the price. I wear very good (expensive) hearing aids and can enjoy the music I love. However, I cannot tolerate LOUD sound, as it creates more ringing in my ears. I listened to the Overature 1's at Circuit City, which was a really poor listening experience. I had to constantly turn the knob doen on the amplifier, and the salesperson would keep jacking it up! What I would would really appreciate is some comments about the quality of these speakers at normal levels, and if someone has a thought about some other brand, please post it.
I am not going to place bags filled with lead shot on the speakers, nor will I be using water cooled tube amps. Been there, done that. Thank you in advance for your assistance, and remember, if you abuse your aural facilities now, you probably will be asking the same questions I am at a later stage of your life
I would rate the Overtures at a 5 level..

Just a quick confirmation to what everyone else is saying about these unique loudspeakers: phenomenal bass, smooth, natural sound, apparent high quality (rigid cabinetry, hefty weight, obvious quality). It would be easy to shy away from such expensive-seeming small speakers, but for audio enthusisasts who want terrific sound without the imposing cabinets, this speaker must be heard to be believed!

I just bought a new Harman Kardon Receiver AVR 75 from Onsale.com ($449.00) and I have to say that they have their act together. Prompt service, shipping, etc... enough about them. After buying the receiver, I needed something speaker-wise that would truly represent the full potential of my HK but not drain my pockets dry. I was in Circuit City and happened to notice the Overture 1's. Not yet knowing the price, I listened to several speaker sets including Bose, JBL, Cerwin Vega, Infinity RS-3's and Overture 2's. After listening to everything, I narrowed it down to Infinity as the best sounding but which model to choose???? Low and behold, My first choice were the OVTR 2's but my checkbook wasn't in agreement. I decided to go with the OVTR 1's and to my surprise, they were on sale!!!!! I have seen these go for $599 a piece but I was able to get them for $299 each! I was sure that I was getting the best sounding speaker for my budget. Once at home, the speakers did not let me down. They sound awesome! I eventually want to get the OVTR 2's as my fronts and move these to the backs, add a sub and add a OVTR Center Channel but I am extremely pleased with the sound and construction of these speakers. A definite good buy even at 599 a speaker. Love em.

I have bought a pair of Overture 1 for my rear channels speakers. Unfortunately one speaker came out of the box defective. When plugged in, the subwoofer amplifier will start to make a lot of noise. I hope to be just a single case. I bought these speakers for their reputation... but as of now I couldn't even try them... very dissapointed.

Until this morning I had a Polk RM7300 speaker arrangement powered by a Yamaha RX-V992. I was pretty happy with it on movies, but on music it lacked the depth and had a midrange hole between the mains and the sub. I was browsing through CC with my wife and kids and wandered into their sound room where I was shown these Overture 1's. The salesman threw a copy of Hell Freezes over into the CD player and I was absolutely amazed at the frequency range and the imaging these things had. When he told me the price $299.00 each, my browsing immediately (in my own mind)turned into a shopping spree. My wife happened to hear them also and was never so quick to give up $650.00. I got these things home and hooked them up. I threw in my James Taylor Live DVD and experimented with the bass level on the speakers and the receiver until I got perfectly natural sounding bass out of them. I switched from DD to Stereo and turned the Polk Sub off and I had never enjoyed any music so much on this system ever. I heard instruments and sounds I hadn't heard on this DVD before. I spread them out about 9 feet and pointed them close to the center point of the viewing (and listening) areaand the imaging was pinpoint and holographic. I look forward to hearing them on the Desperado DVD soundtrack with the bass cranked up. These speakers definitely have 5 stars in my book.

I bought a pair of Overture One's from CC about a month ago ($600/pr). After auditioning speakers by Polk, Phase Technology, B&W, and Klipsch, I settled on Infinity's Composition Overture One's based on sound quality and value. The Overture One's are capable of incredible sound. Soundstaging is excellent (though one may have to try a couple different placements for optimum effect). The bass is tight and clean, the highs are crisp and clear (some may say the highs are too crisp, but it is individual taste that matters), and the midrange is full and precise. Excellent for home theater (you don't need a subwoofer). All around, these are among the premiere speakers available for under $1000.
My setup currently includes:

-- Front speakers (L/R/C) = Composition Overture One's
-- Rear speakers = none at present (looking at Infinity QPS-1 or PQPS)
-- Harman Kardon AVR 65 (despite the problems that many have had with this receiver, I have had no problems and rate it very highly).
-- Toshiba SD 3109 (excellent for DVDs as well as CDs).

I just picked up a pair of these Infinity Overture One's at 240 a piece from the local CC. I was looking for polk's but the salesman turned me on to these. They sound great and they were less than the polk's. Plus the fact that they are
bookshelf size with all that sound is amazing. I am hooked on these speakers.

Got a heck of a deal on an open box buy for $200 on one of these for a full range center channel. clear mids and highs with a 8" sub powered by a 150watt built in amp. The bass isnt overpowering for voices nor does it sound boomy. A boomy center has more to do with cabnit construction than woofer size. A bass control knob allows you to custom tailor the bass to your liking. the small size makes it perfect for ontop of a TV. Would make excellent fronts or rears also.
Might be the perfect center for a dolby digital system. Anyone thinking a center channel doesnt receive any bass from effects hasnt really listened to a full range center. On screen action has a more dramtic effect now rather than just pumping the lowfrequency signals to the subwoofer.

Many places sell these for $300 new now. They're still $550/each at crutchfield.
Great bargin

Excellent speakers! Replaced my very large, very old speakers with these extreme compact speakers (12"x12"x5"). Got them at an Infinty outlet for $630 which is about half the price of retails store such as Circuit City. They have incredible sound. 2- 4" mids with a soft dome tweeter, backed up by an 8" woofer with a 150 watt amp built in. These speakers are an excellent choice for superb sound with a compact, unobtrusive size !!
