Strength:

value. can play all types of music with ease, depth, accuracy, excellent imaging, balance and smoothness at high and low volumes. a wonderful speaker!

Weakness:

you will become addicted.

this speaker is simply amazing. anyone who does not think so has not broken them in sufficiently, is using poor source/amp/ic/wires, has incorrectly wired, is listening to a poor recording (ie. mp3), has placed in odd positions, or has very poor hearing.

Strength:

Alot of sound. Look cool if yer 18 years old.

Weakness:

No music. Look stupid if yer over 25.

Got these as payment for services rendered.Shoulda taken the cash, cuz these things are very disappointing. No soundstage, zero image(and I really worked on 'em too),brittle highs(a poor substitute for real detail)very fatiguing. Oh ya...they do go low,but there is a nasty hump on the way down that really pounds on anything that might be called music that gets in the way.Mids are grainy as hell, and the highs pierce everything that might have sounded fine...then squeel out on the very top. Ouch! I have $600 bookshelves that out-perform these on every level.I have over 500 hours on them,bi-wired with flatwire,monster,Audioquest...etc...I really tried folks! I have been trying to figger out just who these things are made for,and have got it>>>If you are an 18 yearold male, listen to alot of rap crap, and wanna fill a room with noise, then these are for you. For beginners with way too much money on their hands.Others should do their research, cuz there is a whole lot out there for a whole lot less cash that sound a whole lot better.I tried them on everything from Denon,Marantz,Rotel,Bryston, even Pathos mono's,and these things are just plain irritating. Now don't get me wrong...I never dump on a product just to make myself feel better..but dang I got taken!Built like tanks tho.If yer really into this sort of speaker,do yerself a favour and check out the Axiom 80...WOW compared to these...half the beens too. Actually, there are hundreds of better values out there. For this kind of money you should really get serious and invest in your ears, and not what yer buddies will be impressed by. 'Nuff said.

Strength:

Fantastic sound stage, super detail, and very musical. Can hear thing I never could on other speakers. Easy to set up. Beautiful finish

Weakness:

Need good power source. LONGGGGG break-in time, but well worth it.

Let me start of with one word...WOW..I have been a B&W owner for over 15 years..Had a pair of M/803's that I wanted to sell and started looking at other speakers...time for an upgrade. Went to the local Speciality stores and started looked into the B&W N/803's and 804's..they sounded great..looked at other speakers as well..finally got the chance to listen to the E/2.3's...jaw dropping sound stage and clarity.. the speakers just blew me away..yes, I was shocked..and for the price, there is no competition. I have been building speakers and have been a music enthusiast for over 20 years. My electronics are top rate and are better that what was hooked to the speakers in the stores...I am just in heaven with the way the sound at home. Having been building speakers and reading books on crossovers, speaker design, and driver manufacturing for years, these speakers are built with what I consider the best thought out overall design on the market. The sound is the proof. These speakers are top rate as far as the manufacturing and quality construction goes, there is no better on the market. The overall design is truly state of the art. Highly recommended after 3 mounts of heavy pursuit into looking for my next set of speakers. Do not pass up the chance to give these speaker a good listening to if you are in the market. I also have spoken w/Energy corp. and find them to be extremely helpful when it came to answering any questions I had. These speakers need good amplification, as all speakers do, but they come alive w/ the proper power supplied to them

Strength:

they are soo great for the money (decided to buy 2.4s since they are simply the bigger version of the 2.3s because the 2.3s are so great. these speakers are camelions.. they sound like what you hook to em...i''ve heard them sound warm, bright dynamic, restrained have a huge soundstage have flat restrained one... and so on and so forth.... thats a good sign though....it means the speakers do a good job at percisely conveying the signal it recieves....nothing but the truth (the word veritas is latin for truth ;)

Weakness:

they are TOO good for the money... almost no one will think to pair them with super expensive electronics that do them justice.... they might complain about imaging or bass or something like that.... but in actuality these speakers can do so much more than their crappy electronics could even hope to do. you dont like your speakers? sell your amp or cd player/turntable whatever because I guarantee the problem you hear isnt'' from your speakers

I ended up taking the time to review these because i can''t believe what other reviewers are saying about this truly amazing speaker. people with seventy watt per channel harman kardon recievers or yamaha ones.....I too started out with a reciever and have been upgrading my electronics ever since to the point that my electronics now "should" outclass my speakers by far given how relatively inexpensive these speakers are..... i went to audition B&W''s nautilus line today(the 800 the 801 and 802) which range in price from 20,000 to 8,000 dollars a pair thinking (even though i''m perfectly happy with my sound) that my speakers must be my bottle neck and should be limiting what my electronics can really do..... i spent 3 hours in one high end store and i even took a listen to various other speakers in a different high end store....and i found myself truly disappointed with the state of high end audio....i mean stuff sounded good and generally i''d say the nautilus line has a slightly better transient responce and is smother in the midrange but what it gains in smoothness over the veritas it looses in detail and imaging soundstaging and so forth..... i kept thinking to myself in the store.... man these speakers cost way more than the ones i own they "must" be better so i''d keep listening and listening trying my hardest to find a reason to justify buying more expensive speakers. my reasoning was "maybe my speakers are too detailed at home.... maybe they should sound less detailed like these 801''s do maybe its more "natural" that way and i almost convinced myself to buy.... but not without thinking it over a little more.... i rushed home after all my auditioning and listened to my veritas 2.3''s in order to try to compare them.... my jaw dropped and i had to call my friend (my hand was even shaking from the adrenaline)i apsolutely couldn''t believe it. the Veritas in my setup apsolutely STOMPED on the B&W''s (and any other speaker i had heard that day... monitor audios, theil, paradigm reference and so forth. I started making excuses... maybe my electronics are simply better than what they had at the shops maybe thats why my setup sounds better... then i remembered the 801''s and 800''s were being run on krell monoblocks and a wadia cd player. how could one even think of outclassing krell? and wadia isn''t bad either (my front end may be a little better though)

too many to list, i''m no novice by the way.... this review was purposely untechnical since i figure most "true" audiophiles woudn''t think to read a review on speakers this cheap

Strength:

Detailed smooth sound and nice black gloss finish.

Weakness:

Needs lower frequency response for the price. Plastic parts take away from the speaker''s looks.

I received a good price because I bought the floor model. I did learn that the store cost of this speaker is about $675 each, keep that in mind as you negotiate a price. This was my favorite speaker of all the pairs upon pairs I listened to. The 2.3 just has a little extra something that got my attention within seconds of my first demo CD. When that happened I knew it was the right speaker for me! Closer listening revealed a sound that was well detailed, especially in the highs, and provided a full, almost airy sound at times. When I demoed the speakers with my 70x2 HK receiver, I found that it matched pretty well. When compared to the sound produced with an Anethem 200x2 amp. the sound lacked a little of the punch but suprisingly I didn''t think it was worth buying the $750 amp to remedy it at this time because the difference was subtle enough to be within my tolerance. Okay now that I''ve established that this is a good to great sounding speaker and can be powered with fairly cheap gear, it is time to move onto looks. Simpley put this speaker appealed to me in the looks department as well. It is nice to have a speaker that sounds good-great and looks nice doing it. One other consideration that helped in my decision to purchase these speakers was the theater speakers that match the veritas series. The center is nice, but the surrounds are amazing in appearance and sound. Starting with 2.3 mains will allow for good-great audio and eventually with the other complimentary speakers a great home theather! In terms of weeknesses I have two comments. 1) This speaker should offer a lower frequency response for their price I feel the need to compliment these speakers with a sub 2) Energy please get rid of the plastic parts on the front and top

Strength:

It has many strengths, but excels in transparency, detail, and imagery.

Weakness:

Needs good power. Oh well I need to buy an amp.

These speakers IMHO are the best in this price range. I spent the last six months on and off auditioning speakers. I mainly focused on B&W Nautilus 804's, Dynaudio Contour 1.8s and Audience 82's, Monitor Audio Gold 20 and 60's. I had my decision down to the 804’s and the 82’s, but I felt I was settling. The 804’s had great detail and imagery, but I felt they were a little two forward. The 82’s had an edge on the 804’s in detail, were not forward, but lacked the 804’s imagery and soundstage. I found myself saying why I can’t find a speaker that combined what I liked about both... Well by chance I came across the Veritas 2.3s, and found what I was looking for. These speakers have the detail of the 82’s, but the imagery and sound stage of the 804’s. The clincher was I brought a friend with me to audition them. The 2.3s were along side two other speakers, and about 15 minutes into the audition my friend turns to me and says, I don’t want to seem stupid, but which speaker is the music coming from. Now that’s transparency.

My music for the auditon was Sade, Eric Clapton, BB King, Areosmith, YoYo Ma, Boston and Tracy Chapman, and they all sounded great.

If you’re looking for a speaker in the $2,000 price range take a look at these.

If you are wondering why only 4 stars on the overall rating, it's because you can always imaging better.

This speaker is capable of excellent, even rich and engaging sound but should ideally be mated with a fairly gutsy amplifier or integrated and and excellent source. Though it was designed to present a fairly easy load, the typical Asian AV receiver may not entirely do it justice lacking the directness, gumption and transparency to evoke the sonic largesse of which they are capable. The speaker has a slightly recessed upper mid and a diminishing treble response even though it is still quite brilliant out to the extremes. The bass is a little lacking if the speakers are positioned well out into a very large room but are well suited to a mid sized living room. They are suitable for a wide variety of music and yes home cinema wher they can belt it out as well as the rest with a good deal of detail and ambiance. They are failrly quick in response, no doubt due to the very low crossover point for the midrange dome (500 hz). This allows very light drivers to provide most of the sound. Dual 6.5 inch speakers respond quickly to bass impulses. Overall a very pleasant speaker. One of better newer Canadian speakers and easily recommendable. The entire Veritas ensemble works very well in a home cinema although I feel that the center channel does not entirely match the mains in terms of frequency balance. But this, as far as I can tell, is pretty rare from any manufacturer.

Excellent Highs, Wonderful Bass, Clean and transparent.

Weakness:

Early models blew woofers

I picked these up for 674.00 each. At that price there is nothing thata can touch them. I compared the VRM series from Boston just today and could not stand it.The highs on the Veritas are absolutley unvbelievable.
