Home theater yes, they sound great and have excellent components to match as far as the center speaker and bipolar rears. Music (which I think is the important part) No. These speakers sound tubby and and artifial. Not as bad as tyhe Legacy Focus but bad. If you're into movies, I say audition them. If you're a music lover, stay away. |

I have had the opportunity to own several different brands of audio components over the past seven years. In regards to speakers, they have included: B&W, Infinity, Mirage, JBL, Bose, Polk and now the Definitive Technology BP2002. Prior to purchasing the 2002 speakers, I auditioned: Alon, Aerial, Martin Logan, Magnaplanar, Boston Acoustics, Jamo, NHT, N.E.A.R., Paradigm, Pinnacle, PSB, Snell, and Vandersteen. I acknowledge that some of the above speakers I find to be more musically accurate, such as B&W, Alon, and Martin Logan for example. However the issues that leveraged my decision, hinged on how I would use the speakers, in this case 50% for Home Theater and 50% for two channel music, how they sounded and of course my budget. Because the speakers would be also used as mains in a Home Theater setup I needed to consider a sub-woofer, since more and more manufacturers are offering speakers with built in subs for a decent price, I and any one else interested in speakers should too, sought out to audition speakers designed as such. I eventually narrowed down the competition between a pair of Infinity Overture's, also with built in subs, and the 2002. A dealer for Definitive listed them for $2000.00, I negotiated them down to a little under $1500.00, not bad considering the bipolar design and a build in 12" 125watt sub, in each speaker. The Infinity Dealer wanted $3000.00 for the Overtures, my reaction to this is simple, no way are the Overtures worth over $1000.00 more than the Definitive Technologies, not in construction or sound quality. So, I bought the Definitive Technology speakers. The bass on the 2002 speakers will go very deep, as deep as any or most stand alone subs. The bass is tight and accurate, very natural sounding. The High Frequencies are very accurate and do a very good job on male and female vocals and instrument only tracks. With some work, biwiring and placement the midrange can be brought to a decent level, the mid is the only weak spot on the 2002. Also a excellent and large soundstage can be obtained with some tweaking. Highly Recommended! |

A $900 per speaker, unshielded theater speaker; which is what I consider the 2002 with audio system choices from |

Martin-Logan Aerius i or DT 2002's? Ah, all my decisions should be between such wonderful, thoroughly musical speakers. I picked the DT's and have no regrets, except for having to be apart from them for eight hours every work day. |

Stephen has DEFINITIVEly been on Crack! Your speakers are louder because you've got bombs blasting every 10 seconds in Bosnia. So remember while Claudia delivers for only one man, the BP2002s deliver for everyone so inclined. |

I've never heard these speakers but I can tell from Def Tech's adsfor them that they sound awful. |
