Strength:
Incredible frequency range, stats look good on paper, full sound
Weakness:
Large size promotes tipping, requires medium to large room to appreciate My BP10's replaced Polk Audio speakers that were 1/3 the size and 1/3 the quality. I had Polk in all 5 speaker locations and now have Definitive in 3 of those locations. The BP10's are an excellent product with good bass response but would be better complimented with a subwoofer. They are a steal. Cost X Quality is the best I have found. I would not suggest owning these if the room the live in is small (I have mine in front of windows due to space and the quality of sound suffers). |

I bought the BP10s about 6 mo. ago. Generally strong speakers. Wide soundfield. Not too picky a "sweet spot." My major complaint: they lack a sharp sense of definition. Second complaint: the mid-range vocals seem dull at times, and I get a "boominess" in my listening room. I admit the latter may be placement related. I suspect they work better as home theatre speakers than for serious audio. On the plus side, they will take a *lot* of power and continue to deliver cleanly without cavitation. |

Strength:
Look Nice. Good highs
Weakness:
Bass The 10s just don't have it. For $400-$500 they are pretty good. They just don't fill the room like some other speakers in the same price range(i.e Infinity Kappa 6s, Mirage). Bass is weak. I have used them in my home for audio only and they do provide crisp clean sound but nothing to write home about. They would probably be great with a sub. Try the 20s - They're great. Strength:
Great range and performance for the money. Beautiful looking cabinets. The Definitive Technology line of speakers is, in my opinion, the best value in home theater speakers on the market today. Especially the BP-10's. They give an anormous amount of "bang for the buck". I would recommend them to anyone looking for a mid-range priced speaker. |

I've owned my new BP10's just a little over a month now. Wow! I don't think I've ever heard a better sounding pair of speakers in my entire life. I was very hesitant in the beginning about Bipolar's, but I understand now. They create a soundfield so dynamic, so lush, so full and rich! Every note seems so pure. I have a new Elite 27TX to go with them and the combination is outstanding. I listen to both music and movies and either sound format is simply incredible. I'm even pulling out albums once again and listening... they sound wonderful! I've also a new DefTech CLR1000 center channel & the awesome PF15TL sub-woofer. What an orgasmic soundfield they produce! I'm considering BP8's for the rear surround channels... any day now I hope. I compared the DefTechs with Boston, Infinity, JBL, M&K, Klipsch, and so on and found there was no comparison. I couldn't be happier. I love these new speakers... they're awesome. Period! |

Strength:
Bi-polar produces a wide, room filling soundstage. Fairly musical sound.
Weakness:
Bi-polar reduces the accuracy of the soundstage. I helped my dad find a pair of loudspeakers for a fairly large room at his house and he chose these. He is mostly an NPR listener and perfers a lot of classical music to sit and read by. These are about the perfect speakers for him. Placed 2-3 feet from the wall in a large room these fill the room and provide good stero imaging from a variety of locations, however the actual accuracy of the image is only fair, even in the sweet spot. Compared to other types of bi-polar speakers, such as thin film type drivers like electrostatics or the Magneplanar quasi-ribons the Definitives are no match. While these speakers are a bit more invisible than most other conventional loudspeakers in the price range the effects are not the same as the thin speakers. The low-mids seem to suffer from the reflections and get a bit muddy and I expect these speakers would sound quite poor in a smaller room. I just upgraded my rear speakers from the infinity 2000.3 to the Definitive BP 10 and Iam really impressed. these components,Adcom GTP 600(preamp and tuner),Adcom GCD 700(cd player),Adcom 5503 & 5500(power amps),Monster cable wire(z1 series)and (refrence 2 interconects), Infinity Kappa 7.1 series 2(mains),Infinity cc3(center),2 sunfire mk2 true woofers(subs),and of course the new addition Definitive Tech BP10, Make up my system.I must state that these little speakers just lit up the room.I could hardly believe the dispersal of music that these little speakers added to my system.I Listened to the bp30s and thought they had a little more bass, but in my situation i didnt feal i needed any more bass. The only bad thing about these little speakers, was that they had a a little trouble on the real low end and sometimes I felt that the highs were just a wee to high...I think speaker placement is crucial for the little bp10s. |

I listened to these speakers at a local hifi shop and did not like them. They absolutely have no imaging ability at all. I bought NHT 2.5i instead. The NHT had razor sharp imaging and amazing clarity. listen before you buy and don't be hyped up by the ads or salesmen. |

I am an audio consultant and home theater installer for approx. 5 years that i do part time. I have owned and installed all different brands of speakers, such as polk, jbl, klipsch, infinity, bose, and about 10 more brands of higher quality than mentioned. Definitive BP10's are currently my highest recommended speaker for my customers. FOR THE MONEY, they have very good bass response and exceptional highs that totally fill up large rooms due to there bi polar design. They are very crisp, clean and even perform better if you invest in a high quality amp. |
