Strength:

Incredible stereo image ,soundstage, and quality of sound in both music and movies

Weakness:

vocals can be a little strained at very high volume levels

I have owned these speakers for about 6 years...bought them demo/closeout at Circuit City for $369.00....about half of suggested retail...I am amazed at these speakers performance ...best I have heard under $2000.00 am running a 200 watt H/K amp with them and the sound in both music and theater is unreal. I wish DCM still made higher end speakers. I am now in search of a pair of the Timewindow 7
reference speakers that they used to manufacture

Strength:

Shallow profile, Unequaled sonic capabilities for their size, long term reliability.

Weakness:

none

My 1991 model yr. DCM Time Frame 600s have been in extreme use for nine years now. They have performed flawlessly through the most rigorous and wide ranging musical abuse, at some incredible volume levels. Unequalized, they are spectacularly capable of a wide and flat frequency range. But proper analyzation and equalization is where they prove their true worth. I run twin Cerwin Vega 320B 15" subs backed by a Carver M-1.0t amp. While I repaired the blown amp, I re-equalized the system with the DCMs alone, and had to check if my subs were somehow still working. The DCM low frequency capabilities are made even more amazing when compared to their shallow profile. At the less than 700$ price tag for the pair, I would have to rate them as the best value I ever recieved for any piece of audio equipment I have purchased.

Strength:

Full range, great tonal balance, very good transient response, large soundstage, draws you into the music.

Weakness:

The bass is a little bit overpowering in my living room, tweeters are not the last word in refinement.

After possessing these speakers for six years now, I think I can add my views to what was written by the others here.
Perceived value of these speakers is high, having five drivers mounted in a non-conventional and slim package, with frequency response going down to 30 Hz.
The bass response is indeed heavy at times and might not suite well a music-only setting. To overcome this, lean amplification and cables are advised. I have tried a nordost "solar wind" interconnects and speaker cable with very good results.
Careful Setting of these speakers is a must. In my rectangular (14x25ft with large symmetric openings to neighboring rooms) living room I set the speakers 2-3 ft away from the front wall and 7.6 ft apart, DCM logo facing inward and the speakers tilted about 30 deg. towards the listening position (11 ft away).
Tonal balance is wonderful with these speakers, male and female vocals are truly life-like. With good recordings, a large musical picture is presented with a holographic and floating feel, which invite/grab you into the music.
With classical music the size and body of the orchestra are well presented, the bass is no problem here, but another problem arises: The highs are not as pure and pristine as presented by other speakers (costing 3 times as much). So in my opinion the tweeter/crossover/internal cabling is little compromised in order to maintain the modest ($750) cost.
Quickness of response: A quality i like with the TF-600 and lacking with the more relaxed vandersteens that I also own. The DCM react faster to transients in music and throws this extra measure of immediacy at you. This is in my view an essential virtue of live music.

Durability: The durability of these speakers is granted both electrically (high wattage capacity and electronic protection circuit)and mechanically (no paper or foam surroundings in drivers). The only problem may stem from the wrap around grills that may attract cats and dust.

Summary: Regarding its cost, the time frames are wonderful speakers for HT and great speakers for music. Hi quality amplification (even 30watts/ch would do) and cabling are required to bring out the best from them.

Strength:

Extremely clean highs and soundstage is unreal

Weakness:

Seem to lack bass. Sock covering is a pain

These things sound awesome. The first time I listened to them, the hair on my arms stood on end. The highs and presence are better than anything I've listened to- including my dad's Vandersteens. They lack bass, so I added a Polk PSW 250 sub. A little disappointed in sub, but definately helped. Listening to Jazz on these is incredible. The sound comes from everywhere, not just from the direction of the speaker. You'd swear you were at a live performance.

Strength:

Sound quality, small footprint

Weakness:

dust on cloth cover, cover also hides the driver placement so be careful where you pick them up (two rear tweeters)

I use these for HT & music. Bass is excellent for only 6.5 inch drivers. Highs really shine with vocals too. I demo'd these and a bose system about 9 yrs ago. The DCM's sounded more balanced and were cheaper. Never any problems. If you can find them, BUY EM!

I bought the DCM TF-600 speakers about 4 years ago, I have a home theater set up with another brand of speakers not because I didn't think that the DCM's couldn't perform the dutes of a home theater set but, I really enjoyed their musical performance. The TF-600's have a tonal ballance that speakers in the $2000 and over price range have, let me tell you that I enjoy listening to classical music and traditional jazz, and these speakers perform beyond their $900 price tag. Bass end can be short, when it comes to deep organ solo's or over processed keyboard, but bass punch is in your chest, cd's like Bela Fleck's left of cool will have you hitting the repeat button on your cd player again and again. I run an Adcom 5 disc changer in my systemwith Kimber cable and TARA labs interconnects. For the drop off in bass I have a Velodyne sub, which gives me exactly what I need in the bass department. Like I said I don't have these seakers in a hme theater environment, but sometimes think that if they sound this good with music then what could they do for DVD and Laserdisc? If you can find someone out there who sell's these speakers you owe it to yourself to give them a listen.

Great speakers. The sound quality and sound stage are great. These speakers are small so a subwoofer makes them sound even better.

Have a home theater setup in a 12x18 den. Use one pair of DCM Timeframes for my L/R front chanels and another pair for my L/R surround channels. Use a Definitive Technology model 1000 C/L/R speaker for my center channel and two JBL HTS 12" subwoofers. The sound is awesome theater sound and excellent musical sound. Equipment used in system includes:Onkyo 717 Dolby Pro Logic receiver used as preamp processor for Dolby Pro Logic signal and audio and video hook up to source equipment.
Technics AC500D Dolby Digital Signal Processor with DTS Decoder.
Sony 3000 DVD player
Pioneer 759 Laser Disc player
1 Sony VHS Hifi VCR
1 Sony Super Beta Hifi VCR
1 Carver 15cb amplifier to drive the center channel
1 Adcom 555 amplifier to drive the front two speakers
1 Adcom 545 amplifier to drive the subwoofers
1 Adcom 535 amplifier to drive the surround speakers
Incidentally, have an older 32" Sony XBR TV with no PIP, etc, but a great picture,

Strength:

The DCM Timeframe-600 has a nice stereo image.

Weakness:

The speaker has an olmost completely shielded midrange speaker so the sound doesn't come of the speaker.
At high sound levels the bass is completely disorientated.

As the Timeframe 600 has poor midrange, detail and depth
I decided to upgrade the speakers.
It was a total shock when I removed the black "sock" from the Timeframe 600 speaker. The midrange speaker was totally blocked by two pieces of metal, fabric coating and a tweeter, the inner cables where thinner than my hair.
The TF-600 are "magnetically shielded". My ass! the midrange and bass speakers in the speakers I bought were in no way magnetically shielded so what you buy from DCM is not what you get!
So I decided to use real cupper audio cables and removed the shields that blocked the midrange speaker and replaced the tweeters on the front next to the midrange speakers.
The results are acceptable for the time being.

I e-mailed DCM 3 months ago and still they didn't answer so their after sales is very poor.

If you want my advise don't buy any from DCM!
