Strength:

Imaging, soundstage depth, well defined midrange, open spacious sound.

Weakness:

Very critical of room placement. Bass is slightly loose.

I've owned these speakers for over ten years. Several years ago I decided to upgrade my speakers. However, after listening to numerous high end brands, I just haven't yet found any speakers that sound that much better than the Time Frames. While the DCM Time Frames are no longer made, anyone interested in getting a lot of speaker for the money, could probably find a good, used pair, at e-bay, etc. But, as always, listen first. Their slightly bright, rather laid back sound may not be for everyone.

Strength:

the 3D soundstage on these speakers, the mids and high on these are out of this world interesting looks sounds like theres more speakers inside these box

Weakness:

maybe the bass but I'm bass hungry taking these speakers apart and putting them back together mainly the sock cover takes some time

I just love these speakers first off If your looking for speakers don't look at the newer DCM speakers(sorry but they suck except the kx center)these are to say the perfect speakers only thang missing is the bass it's there yes but doesn't hit as hard but thankfully they make subwoofers which your gonna need with these speakers but the treble and the mids OH so sweet If you buy these for music or movies you'll hear alot more details in the movie your watching or the music your playing I wanted to up grade to some new or used speakers in july so I read about these speakers on this website (THANK YOU audioreview and the people that review there stuff)on this website without you I would never been happy with any speakers when I got these speakers the left side speaker needed a couple speakers replace someone that had them before me had different speakers in one box so I went to EBAY and look for the cx-7 bookshelf speakers got them I hook them up before I took them apart to put in the TF600 and they sounded really good(better than the kx6 bookshelf speakers that I had)but had to upgraded to the cx-17 and give the kx6 to my little brother everything sound's so nice and smooth I beleive I'll have these speakers for a very long time for those that are looking for a center channel that will match these speakers I have the DCM KX center channel and it sound even with the cx series and with the TF600 I like the sock cover speaker grill's they make them look interesting to me

Strength:

Overall imaging is nothing short of amazing. Bass is robust and tight.

Weakness:

Grills are not removable to service speaker if needed.

The only thing I must say is why did'nt I find these years ago. I am using them as my mains in a home theater and the whole system just came alive. Amazing throwing of bullets and bombs in We Were Soldiers. Incredible sound in DVD's like Dianna Krall and Yes.

Strength:

Sonic accuracy, bass responce for such a shallow speaker, when placed about 8" from a wall.

Weakness:

Like many others, I don't like the sock-style cover.

I've owned these speakers since '96, and have been totally impressed with the vocal tonal clarity and the high frequency accuracy. The bass is good to me for a speaker of this size and depth, and I love my bass. They need a subwoofer for the real lows, especially in a larger room. I also have Klipsch speakers that are incredibly efficient for my home theater, but don't have the same accuracy that I notice in the DCM's. I have them in my master bedroom right now, and am considering selling them to go with in walls for space savings, but every time I listen to them I cringe, knowing I will loose much quality with even the higher quality in walls.

Strength:

Great when used with a sub, pretty good without. Flexable, forgiving, shine with better receivers.

Weakness:

They are big (but they sound big), cannot get 15" bass from them, but they try hard.

Oh yeah, These speakers do what I want of them. They reproduce the music, they reproduce the audio, they do not flavor it. My wife complained of their size, till she compared sounds. She wanted "small" but then realized, these don''t sound small. I upgraded from a smaller Onkyo to a much larger Denon to push them, they shine with power. I did buy a subwoofer which complements them (Infitessimal), and I use a CX-27 center (also a fine DCM product), you almost feel the music is directed at you, the voices are live. They shine in midrange, that is where most replication is needed, but highs are acceptable, lows need just a little help. I compare to my bro''s B&Ws and Carver, to me these are more real, for less $ and they seem forgiving. Perfect?, no, but I have never regretted buying them. And, the wife said, in our new house they will not fit, I said "I go with my DCMs", I am that loyal (and she is great), she chose us. Big, but big sound. I want more, but discontinuud (and better than current stuff from DCM). These did not sound nearly as good with my Sony ES as they do with my ONKYO or DENON, they like high current wattage. My wife agreed, they will fit in our new home, that is good, I sorta like her too.

Strength:

Sound, sound, sound! (and isn''t that what it''s all about? Pure, natural sound with no embelleshments!

Weakness:

OK, so maybe the one-piece curtain-cover attracts dust & the cats may try them out as a scratching post!(have ''em declawed!)

Wow! I just ran across this site & have used the DCM TF-600 speakers for 8 years. I am amazed at the almost 3-D effect that these speakers are able to reproduce. The balance and tonal quality is excellent. I added a 300 Infinity sub for home theater & this has worked wonders. My advice is to tone the bass levels down to the TF-600s and let the subwoofer handle the bass, that way you can let the TF-600s shine in the midrange-highs where they do their best! Try to locate them in corners to take advantage of their rear deflecting tweeters. My only question would be: where to find them after all these years?

Strength:

Best speaker for the price. Can't go wrong. Great bass for the type of speaker it is.

Weakness:

NONE.

I have a ULD-18 combined with my timeframes for 9 years now and see no reason to upgrade. Only thing I need is a DTS/AC3 THX processor with power amp.

Strength:

Depth of soundstage, sharp imaging, extended bass for size

Weakness:

Slight loss of midrange detail, needs subwoofer, live volume
(classical) listening causes very 'strained' sound, bass
and mid-bass transients lack sharpness.

For 10 years my speakers were a set of homebuilt transmission line speakers of 8'6" length with Focal 10N515
10" bass drivers and Focal 7N313 7" midranges in a 3'transmission line and Morel MDT28 1"domes. The above was tri-amplified with a carvet M1.5-t (bass), Adcom GFA535 (mids), and audio research D-52 (tweeters). A set of Marchand XM-24's with a lab grade power supply made up the filter network. I simplified my system down to the baby Adcom and the DCM Time Frame 600's last year. Except as noted above, these speaker have not disappointed!

Strength:

Price, Imaging, Flat frequency responce, Bass

Weakness:

Rwap arownd cloth, Dust Magnets, Proper setup is critical for proper preformance.

These speakers are absolutely wonderfull for their price range. Most of it's merits have allready been mentioned by previous reviews. The sound Staging is short of extraordinary for speakers in this price range, in this, nothing I have seriously auditioned or had, has come close! Setting up these speakers propperly takes great care and time noting that they are a Dipole type Mirror Immaged set, that is,...one left and one right speaker with out-of-phase rear facing tweeters. This should not be disregarded! I have noticed on some earlier reviews on the Bass performance varying widely from great to poor, this sugests problems with placement because properly set up the Transmission Line enclosure desighn produces Bass detail that is stunning! These speakers work excelent for Home Theatre especially if you have the matching center speaker. For just regular stereo listening, The DCM TF-600s create a sonic illusion of music emminating semlessly from all across the wall and not blairing out of a box as with conventional types. The specs on the Time Frame 600s are 6 ohm nom. impedance, therefore they do tend to draw some excess curent, thus, they will perform much better with a high curent amplifier. The wide but slim desighn definantly turns eyes and causes questions from visitors; "Are those speakers?" the downside is the wraparownd black cloth tends to atract alot of dust. Also apparently the original Company went out of buisiness so these speakers are no longer availiable. DCM under some sort of reorganization still produces speakers though these new models are in no way the same quality speakers as the once audiofile world famous Time Window and Time Frame line. This speaker can be found ocasionally on E-Bay, If you decide on a pair of these you wont be disapointed.

Strength:

Imaging, Depth of soundstage

Weakness:

transient response in bass region not quite as good as a good acoustic suspension speaker

These are excellent sounding speakers with excellent imaging and depth, airy, open highs, rich, smooth bass, and very detailed midrange. I am sure there are probably better sounding speakers, but at what cost? Perhaps the guy who says these speakers have poor midrange would like the Klipsch kg4's. They are on the bright side and sound good at first, but after about thirty minutes they really bring on listener fatigue. As for bass becoming disoriented, I have never had this problem and can only imagine what levels they must be driven at to cause this problem. I traded my klipsch kg4's for these speakers and have never regreted it. I am very happy with these speakers.
