These speakers are the best set of speakers I've ever heard, if you try to find 6 speakers for the same quality, your not going to find anything under $1600.00, you just can't beat these speakers!!!

This is a follow-up to an earlier post. These speakers are absolutely magnificent. The sound is just crystal-clear. I never even imagined having sound this good from a $1000 sub/sat system. I thought I was making a huge sacrifice moving away from floorstanding speakers, but I was wrong. Obviously, if you wanted to step into the realm of the elite speakers (with equally elite pricetags), these may not be for you. But if you want to pack great sound into a limited space and budget, these speakers are UNTOUCHABLE! I didn't even bother upgrading the rears, because there's really no need, unless your room is really big, or you don't have a decent location for them. My rears are 2 1/2ft from both the back wall and the ceiling, and the sub is in the room's front left corner (corners are your best bet). Tremendous sounding system. It blows most systems away in Pro-logic, but DD and DTS is where these speakers truly separate themselves from the contenders. Detail is unbelievable in DTS. I have not found anything this system CAN'T do. Pro-logic, DD, DTS, 5.1 audio, 2-channel stereo.....This system is just handles any source, and any style of music like a champ.
And to the previous sucker, I mean poster......Bose???????? AM-15's???????? FAR SUPERIOR?????????? You've got to be kidding me, Dougie. Didn't you know that mentioning the words "Bose" and "superior" in the same sentence automatically destroys any credibility you could hope to have in these forums? Either you're an underwater demolitions expert, or you're just tone deaf. I can understand you're dilemma, though. You obviously bought into Bose's slick advertising campaign, and believed that because they have the most commercials, print advertisements and retail stores, they make the best speakers. And to rationalize the mistake you made in buying them, you came here to put down a superior, less-advertised product, to compensate for your lapse in judgement. It's just a shame that the mistake you made, cost you $1200. My suggestion to you would have been to demo the speakers IN YOUR HOME, not at the store, because if you did, the BA's would have BLOWN YOUR AM-15's OUT OF THE ROOM! If you can honestly say that your AM-15's still sound better after a side-by-side comparison (again, in your home), then RUN (don't walk) to your nearest Bose retailer, and complete a job application. You're just the kind of person Bose is looking for to peddle their garbage.

I second Gary's comments below.
I have a post in this forum from almost a year ago at the time I bought the BA system. In the post I say that the BA's are the best product at thier price point. After owning them for almost a year, I gotta say that they are absolutely unbelivable - they do a GREAT job of music and theater - a feat that few speakers can do even at twice the price.

Buy the BA's. Nothing comes close.

Price, space concious

Weakness:

several, please read

I seriously auditioned this system when looking for a system for a new room. I own a pair of BA 120's from a few years back and have been pretty happy with them. I considered this system for price, size, and reputation. I am primarily a music listener vs. movies, so I listened for this. I spent about 2 hrs. listening to them with a variety of music, including Oleaner, Ric Ocasek, Mannheim Steamroller, and Lorrena McKinnet (sp?). This system did a good job, but sounded a bit shrill with some. There was also a tendancy, as I usually find with sat/sub systems, for it to sound like seperate pcs. and not a unit. It did a respectable job (much better than BOSE) but I felt it was not nearly as good as a set of newly introduced PSB Image series. I decided to spend the difference and get the PSB's, which do cost quite a bit more. If the BA's are more into your budget and space, I'd say 'buy them.' Overall, a nice system.

Strength:

Tiny size and great full range sound from satellite set.

I think these sound very good. The system delivers a solid full range. They surpassed all other systems in their class I looked at. The bass can be a little muddy at times but for the most part it is accurate. I would reccomend them to anyone who wants big sound using a small space.

By the way Bose is so outclassed by these speakers they are not even in the same class.

Superb with HomeTheatre. Terrible with music. I am using a REL Q200 Sub instead of the BA one, and the surround sound is superb.
Music however in comparison to a pair of Monitor Audio R252's that I have is awful. Harsh to the point of me turning the whole thing off..!

I am in the process of replacing my present Amp with a Sony 930 to acheive better audio quality and Dolby Digital; but I hold little hope that this will help the musical quality of these speakers.

Defintely a case of keep these for the A/V stuff (what I bought them for. And use some proper Audio speakers for music.

I'm still rating the set-up highly though, as this meant for AV, and excels at it.

Strength:

Great system for my all-around purposes, excellent value

Weakness:

None

At the beginning of what became a year-long ugly divorce, I moved into an apartment, leaving the old Kenwood A/V receiver and Rogers Sound Labs speakers behind (1980 models). After a couple of weeks of audio withdrawl, I visited the local Good Guys store and began auditioning new receivers (ended up with a Denon AVR-3300, quite happily) and speakers.

The sales person, without mentioning which set of speakers was which, switched from one set to another until we had run the gamut. They were all being driven by a Denon AVR-3300. The second time around I had her stop on the ones my ears thought sounded best, and asked her to point them out. To say I was blown away by the awsome sound coming from such a small set of speakers would be an understatement!

I have enjoyed the system now for about 15 months and can honestly say that my ears couldn't find a better set for any price. They have great frequency response and ample power-handling capability. The subwoofer is very crisp and rattles the 14 foot square den in the house (I was able to buy the Ex. out)nicely.

As an avocational audio engineer, my musical tastes run the gamut from classical to rock to country and I find this system does major justice to all musical elements, including bass and vocals. The same and more can be said of movie soundtracks. Just plain awsome.

I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for fabulous sound in a small package at a reasonable price.

Strength:

Great price. Full sounding speaker system with a great mid-range. Center speaker handles dialogue very well.

Weakness:

None

I was all set to purchase the Bose AM15 speakers when I started to do my research on the internet. I was surprised to find so many critical and unfavorable reviews on what I "thought" was a great speaker system. I admit that I was sucked into the Bose marketing scams and listening room setups at Circuit City and Best Buy. I also thought it was unusual that I could not compare Bose speakers to JBL, Polk, INfinity, etc. I could only listen to and compare Bose speakers. (According to Bose sales reps, Bose does this on purpose so you can't compare to other sytems.)

Consumer Review and Audio Systems had great reviews on the Boston Acoustic speakers so I decided to listen to the speakers and hear for myslef what all the fuss was about. The speakers sounded great! Especially when I put on one of my favorite CD's.

Don't get fooled by a very good Bose marketing system. Lisen for yourself and save $400.

Okay I would rather read the reviews than write but I feel I have to put in my two cents. love this speaker package. I didn't shop that much. I have to admit I was considering Bose because that's all I new about. And so many people have bought them. How could I go wrong. Well I listened to the Bose and then the system 9000. I bought the 9000 then. It also helped that they fit my decor. My wife does not like speakers but the system 9000 in white disappears in my TV room. especially the off white VRS surrounds they blend in perfectly up on the cieling. They sound fantastic with Surround and DD movies (Best in DD). To top it off they sound fantastic with music. I'm a Jazz fan and love the sound of these speakers. My room is not ideal since I have an open wall where there should really be a wall so I don't get reflected sound off that side. But the VRS surrounds do a fine job regardless. These speakers were clearly the right choice for me. I am glad to see all the great reviews since I'm not experienced.
