It amazes me that people out there buy nice electronics from Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon, Harman Kardon and pair them with these speakers. You will achieve the same results powering these speakers with a clock radio.Stop the insanity. Stop buying Bose !!!

Let's get one thing straight here: You don't have to own something to know how badly it sucks. There's things called in-store demos, take-home auditioning, 30/60/90-day return policies, selling of ones equipment, word-of-mouth, magazine reviews, the internet--all of which can account for people knowing how bad Bose speakers are. So not owning Bose doesn't discredit anyone on this site from reviewing their experiences with them or giving their input. That being said, I shall end all the bickering and flame-warring by providing you with DEFINITIVE PROOF of why the Bose AcoustiMass blows is a truly wretched piece of garbage. If any of you Bose fanatics can match this site's supporting arguements point for point, you might have a cause remaining. But if not, quit reposting on this website, helplessly trying to convince yourselves that you didn't buy a piece of junk. You're only allowing other consumers to make the biggest mistake they'll ever have to live with.

Size, deep base sound

Lets start off by saying I actually own the Bose AM15 speakers. I also evaluated JBL, CerWin Vega and Yamaha. All sounded good but the Bose system sounded the best. Not only did I hear 'their' product demo, I also brought in my own music cd's to stress test the speakers. Let me tell you they sounded great in the Store. I wondered if they would sound as good in my house, and thanks to the 90 return policy I gave them a shot. They sound just as good in my house as they did in the store. They are hooked up to an Onkyo TX-DS484 receiver and a Pioneer DV-333 DVD player. The room is 14x23. The center spreaker sits on the TV, the front are on top of two bookshelves and the rear are mounted on the wall about 7 feet off of the ground. I hide the subwoofer in the corner, beside the right bookself. I did no repositioning after the initial setup. They sound great exactly where they are. I have nothing but good things to say about these speakers. Well worth the money, and belive me, I'm a cheap skate and would have bought the other less expensive speakers if they sounded as good.

Style and size,sounds great with dvds

I was a lifelong Bose enthusiast until I bought the AM-15 and was very disappointed with the lack of mid range frequency and how flat they sounded.
At first I thought it was just me but after reading the reviews here and speaking with a friend at work who referred me to Magnolia hifi in san jose and I was able to listen to them side by side with the Boston Acoustic VR975 floor speakers and their was no comparison in the quality of sound. The BA VR975's are the most complete speakers Ive ever heard.
Thank you to all those who took time to write a review here, at first I was incredulous and since I'm an owner of a pair of Bose 901's and wanted very much to go with the AM-15's for my home theatre but after going home and being objective and critical I had to return them for the VR975's
