Strength:

Fullness of sound, clarity. Cinema sound.

Weakness:

Lack of punch on music listening.

Maybe it is just that I have hard surfaces to aid in the sound quality, but for the money I have not found anything comprable. I have had more than my fair share of surprised responses from Audiophile friends when they hear this system. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a home theater system as the best packaged system of this type that I have heard.

Sound, Size & Looks!

OK, OK, Bose haters. Hey, but nobody said what could be a solution or alternative to make you happy.
One of the most expensive, huge tower speakers? You know it doesn't even make sense to compare. Too much non sense.

I spent a lot of time comparing sounds throughout all possible stores and friends' houses and came to one conclusion. AM15 is the best bet by far to satisfy
my HT Sound, Decor and Wallet($960). I purchased a Kenwood receiver($420) and Sony DVP-S360 dvd player($220) and these
all together worth every penny I spent. OK, people. If somebody have a $1600 HT solution that can beat the sound quality, amazing size and simply-the-best decor of this system, please post that here. I really want to know. Otherwise, like somebody else said below, I'm tired of hearing Blazer & Miata comparison without any solution.

If you are shopping around now, just bring your favorite dvd or cd to the store and demo for yourself!

a Casual Listener

I purchased the Acoustimass 15's in December. Luckilly Bose has a 90 day money back policy. I returned them on day 45 when I could not stand them any longer. If you have very little space for speakers for home theater and will use them PRIMARILLY for home theater, THERRRE GREAT. BUT if plan on using them mainly for music and only once in while for home theater THERRRE AWFULL. They are very bright and punchy but have no mid range. I liken it to listening to a chorus, you can hear the sound everybody makes by singing but can't hear the individual voices. I found that this could only be eliminated by adding my 20 year old Ohm C-2's to the front line to fill in the gaps. The only problem with this was that the more my wife and I listened to the Bose the more obvious it became that the 20 year old Ohm's were better.
The moral to this story, if you want good loud home theater in a small package, buy them. If you want to listen to music the way its supposed to be listened to, buy something else. Bose factory outlets sell them for 1,299, but I found them from a mail order place in Texas for 1,099. So don't buy them from Bose. Happy listening

Strength:

Good natural sound. Easy placement, reflective sound.

Weakness:

mids arre slightly weak but OK.

For all you supposed picky listeners.... Have you ever listened to a live...not amplified... performance? These speakers are as close to natural sound as you can get for the price. Most other speakers exaggerate the highs and lows. When you become used to this form of reproduced sound then everything you look for in a speaker is loud. Some of the best and true sound producing speakers on the market use a single driver. The AM 15's have combined this technology with an unobtrusive application and quite frankly I think they have done very well.

Actually, I have owned top of the line Klipsch and Definitive Technology (BP2000) theater systems. They had both been overboard in highs and lows. While my Bose speakers could never reproduce the volume levels these speakers could pump out, I have to admit they are much more listenable and blend in fantastically. I get more impressed every time I use them. If you like the shrilly exaggerated sound of tweeters and big bass speakers then more power to you, but cut some slack for a truly good product.

Where does one start

I almost bought a bose speaker system due to the fact that they are "well known" for their speakers. After reading reviews and listening to them at a store, I am VERY VERY happy about NOT purchasing these "gems". I don't know about other stores around the country, but the one I went too they setup 2 bose speaker systems and had them running at the same time. One must be careful of this, because it is obvious they had to add another system to fill the sound field. I would recommend NOT purchasing these speakers, they are garbage.

Strength:

Small, Compact, Design.

Weakness:

Sound quality does not live up to the high price tag.

Wow! Let me start by saying that I am shocked at the number of negative reviews of this product, although it is reassuring to know that I am not the only one dissapointed. I have always been a firm believer that you get what you pay for (in most cases) especially when it comes to high end audio components. Obviously that is not the case when it comes to the Acoustimass 15. I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing this system. Since I purchased this surround sound system I have been trying to convince myself that I must have missed something during the install or maybe somewhere else but I guess it is time to face the music. This system might be good for listening to classical music but I bought it for intense action packed movies with lots of deep bass effects and listening to rock, and heavy music. It just doesn't deliver for the price, not to mention I had to pay another $130 for the custom Bose mounting brackets that were hard to assemble. This is my first home theatre system and I have learned a very expensive lesson. Do lots of research before you buy!

Let's see..., Ya'll want ta spend 2/3 to 3/4 of your audio bucks on your 'stereo' speakers, no?! Say 2/3, to be conservative. Now ya'll are movin' up to HT, and you want the explosions to explode in your living room, the glass to shatter behind you, and the stars on the TV to speak to you from the screen. Hmm, maybe we better at least move that ratio up a bit, and make it 5/6ths. So ya'll buy your Bose for 1000 bucks and feel outraged that the system doesn't do all that you want it to.

Well! I'm outraged too!. You are using the ratio, aren't you??? You really are an audiophile, aren't you??? If you are, you spent around $200 on the rest of your system: Pre-amp, Amp, DVD/CD, VCR, cables. (I'll be kind and leave out the Turntable, since most of you assume that only Rap DJ's us them for that most musical of sounds, record skkkkkrrrraaaatching...).

One of ya'll listed around $5,000 worth of exotic equipment. What the f*&k are you even writing about $1000 speakers for?

Nuff said

Strength:

Size, design, color-matching, good overall sound-quality for both music and home theatre.

Weakness:

Loss of some midrange, price (if you cannot find a good deal).

I don't know, after reading all of the poor reviews on these speakers, I had to re-check mine to make sure it was the same system. I have had these speakers for about three months now and have no major complaints--even after listening and owning various other sets in my audio past. Sure these speakers lack some of the tonal qualities as others but, unless you have hearing like a bat, many will not hear the difference. This could be due to the fact that I have the system in a small, 10x15' room with 8 foot ceilings...I could not find a better system that would fit in this room and keep an aethetic appearance at a reasonable price (about $600 from mail order). All other competitors are atleast twice this amount and my budget would not allow for it. I think the real key to the magic of this system is to have a high quality amp/receiver asnd you take the time to aim the speakers and adjust the receiver correctly..both of which I did and was amazed at the difference.
Overall, the Bose may be pricey if you cannot find a good deal (all speakers are overpriced considering what you are buying) but so are cars, clothing, and all electronics in general...it's called business and business intends to make profit. Again, if you have a small room and want to casually listen to movies (DVD) or music at human-levels, these speakers are just fine. DOn't be swayed by the anal-retentive audiophiles who could complain about any component to come across the pipeline no matter who built it or how much it is. These are the types who are willing to pay $15,000 more for a Lexus ES300 instead of a Toyota Camry because they swear the Lexus is of better "quality". If you like these speakers for what they are intended they should suit anyone just fine.

I recently bought these after evaluating other satellite packages, and am very happy with them I paired them up with a Harman/Kardon AVR 75 and the result is terrific. Sure, they may sound a little less impressive than some other satellites out there, but they make up for that in styling.
