Strength:

Small - good sound for movies

Weakness:

not perfect

I think the main problem with this site is that many people have different circumstances - but all are rating these with different objectives

Audiophiles are rating them for high music re-production
Movie watchers with large rooms are rating them with large room dimensions in mind

What do they cost - 1000 English pounds. This price is the price you have to pay for a 5.1 sound system to start with - so the arguement that they are overpriced is incorrect

I look at them as great for my circumstances - I need small speakers as I cannot physically fit large speakers into my living room
I use them more to watch movies than listen to music - and again they are great for this purpose

I think other people are looking at them with different objectives eg I want the best music replay that is possible

Depending on the circumstances you are viewing them with - if you see the AM15 will fit that bill - then they are good speakers for you

Just realized that, in my previous comments, I have been calling the product the "AC-15", when I meant the AM-15. Doesn't really matter. It sucks regardless of what I call it.

Strength:

Small, Pretty good sound

Weakness:

Not great sound, too much $$$$$

LET ME SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT: THESE SPEAKERS ARE DEFINITELY OVER-PRICED, BUT CONSIDERED HOW SMALL THEY ARE AND HOW GOOD THEY SOUND FOR AN AMATEUR HOME THEATRE SYSTEM AND ARE PRETTY GOOD. THEY AREN'T AMAZING, AND YOU DON'T REALLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, BUT THEY ARE STILL DAMN GOOD, AND MIGHTY SOLID.

In response to Joe Scappatura below:

You stated...

Dont listen to the sales people. They push what they will make the most $$$ on. The sales person tried to guide me to another product. Bose sets the price on their products so the store cant really mark the price up.

Now being that I've done retail sales for an upper mid-fi/hi-fi store, I'll have a say on this one. Good sales people make commissions, true fact. Bad sales people make hourly wages, true fact. If you want knowledgeable sales people that offer good service, they MUST be commissioned. Commissioned salespeople have incentive to learn product, it makes them a more effecient employee, hourly workers are unknowledgeable, have high turnover, misqualify and sell the wrong stuff because they don't have to worry about returns, and are largely comprised of teenagers looking for an employee discount. Take for example Best Buy. I actually suspect that stupidity is a requirement to work there. Best Buy associates are the funnest to pick brains because when you ask them something they don't know like "How does progressive scan work?", they fabricate their own comical answers in place of fact. The sales person in your instance was trying to help you by veering you away from Bose. Too bad you didn't listen. Bose is price fixed ONLY because they offer their products to sooo many retail stores that impending price wars would depreciate the value of owning a Bose system. My retail store's gross profit on Bose speakers was 62% GP. That means that a $1200 Bose AM-15 cost us $456 from Bose Corp at wholesale with a retailer's license. Deduct from that figure Bose's profit from our company, and you get an idea of just how worthless these speakers are. Bose also restricts retailers from selling any of their stuff open box. Why? What would it look like to have 12 open box AM-15 units lined up around the audio department?!!? So as a customer you have no bearing on customer response to Bose products. You know what else? Bose won't let any retailer put the AcoustiMass speakers in a listening room with a competitor's speakers. Hmm? Well, I don't want to make this post too long so I'll end it at that. Strength:

Able to hide these very easy...

Weakness:

They should be hidden... right in my waste management can.

I don't know what the hell to say. I bought these because a guy I know told me these were the greatest things he had ever heard and they were just better than the day sliced bread was invented. I bought these for my reckroom, the place where the kids can go and watch their movies, and play with their toys. My main system, in my living room, is where the good stuff is (similar products used). I thought, what the hell, the kids like surround sound and I figured this would be the key, getting everything in one shot, and having myself a little 2nd theater in the house. Plus, it was small, and didn't have to spend a FEW thousand to complete the job. I don't know... There is just nothing there. I think I could of bought a cheap pro-logic receiver and a set of bookshelf speakers for half the price and would have had more of what I was looking for... It just doesn't do me any justice, and NO, I'm not comparing it to my MAIN system, even my grandfather said he thought his AIWA (yes AIWA) 5 piece system sounded better and louder. Quite a kick in the nads. So for 1200, I'd say go get yourself a pair of Paradigms and a good center channel, spend a little more and get surrounds and a sub or two, and you'll have something you can be proud of.

p.s. Try watching The Matrix (the lobby scene) on these.
The smell of smoke is amusing to some people.
