those cubes aren't edible, but they sure look good.

I think that if you were to take all of the little speakers out of you alarm clock radios and connected them next to your bose cubes and did some blind sound testing that you would not be able to tell much of a difference.

have I tried this? Well, no I have not. Why would I want to ruin a perfectly good sounding alarm clock radio.

I wrote an initital review/commentary here back in August and, after using the Bose AC-15 system for about 5 months now, I feel that I must amend my previous comments.

This system is incredibly overpriced and is weak at best. It is a marginally acceptable home theater system and it is nothing short of terrible for music reproduction. I could not be more dissapointed with my purchase. I am using the AC-15 in a system that includes a Yamaha RXV-800 A/V receiver, a Denon 2800 DVD, a Mitsubishi VCR, a Sony 32" XRB Trinitron tv and other various and a Sony 5-disk cd player and a Nachamichi tape deck. Not audiophile or videophile level equipment, but a solid system non-the-less.
The Bose is definitely the weakest link in my system.

I have spent the last month investigating possible alternatives to the AC-15 system and they are legion, many of them mentioned in other naratives found here. Almost every speaker manufacturer, be they mass market or small specialists, offer a viable alternative. I suggest that you look at these alternatives very closely if you are considering the AC-15.

I have had to reintroduce my old Boston Acoustic HD-5's into the system, using the "B" channel in the receiver, in order to attempt to round out the substandard reproduction of the Bose. I may reintroduce my Velodyne subwoofer into the mix as well.

My driving influence in choosing the Bose was size and asthetics. My wife and I wished to get rid of the obtrusive speaker system previously used (BA T-series towers for front speakers, BA center channel speaker, BA HD-5's for the rears and the Velodyne 1080 powered sub)and replace them with something small, yet sonically impressive.

In summary, I am very disappointed with my purchase of the Bose AC-15 and am already considering alternatives, at a potentially significant financial loss. Please be careful not to make the same mistake.
