Strength:

Sounds great to me!

Weakness:

Dont know what all the fuss is about?

I have these hooked to my home theater and I have loved them. I also have a seperate subwoofer that I already had, connected to the receiver, so that adds bass. To me, they just sound great! And neighbors always comment on the great sound without knowing what type speakers I have. They just like what they hear. They are connected to a Sony 333ES. The sound I get is extremely clear and crisp. Especially with spoken audio or the voice in music. I would not give them up for anything! Placement and angle also can greatly improve/degrade the sound field. (And I dont work for Bose, own stock or have a father that owns them, really!)

Strength:

Compact size, great for watching DVD and videotapes

Weakness:

PRICE, wish it could have more bass, not that great for music

Bought these because space is a premium in my living room. I am satisfied with the sound. I like the compact sound cubes, easy to integrate into my living room. Although I have a weak understanding of physics, I know it is too much to ask those small (2") drivers to deliver more midrange sound. You would need drivers about twice or 3 times as big to produce more midrange. In other words, these speakers perform as designed.

Movies sound great, music sounds so-so. I wish it could have more bass. At the same time, though, I don't need that much bass right now since I live on the second floor of an apartment building (military housing). If I move to a house I may get a subwoofer to really take advantage of my digital Dolby receiver.

I bought my AM10 for $799.00 from AAFES (Army-Air Force Exchange Service). I wish Bose would bring down the price of these speakers. That would have added two more stars for value.

Interesting bookends (no, wait...too light!)

Weakness:

Pick.

I was just rambling through the reviews and spotted Andy's from a few months back. I am SERIOUS when I say that this site has to start monitoring posts! You have to sound remotely educated to post on this site! Paper cones = a more natural sound? Jesus! This product is so obviously cheap, a ripoff and yes- an INSULT to the intelligences of the buyers out there. This is not quality, guys! You are paying an extraordinary amount of money (given what you receive) for what amounts to the same speakers that are in the boombox in the kitchen. In fact, that would probably sound better, because the speakers in that case are designed to be full-range. I realize people like Andy try to come in and disturb the peace with posts like that. He knows he'll get us all ranting; in fact, he probably works at the site. But really, $900 for paper and plastic? That's like spending $50,000 on a Toyota.

Strength:

Natural Sound. Unique Technology. Discrete.

Weakness:

Light on Bass.

Let me make this short and sweet, and try to explain something to everyone.

Half of you guys don't know what "bright" means, and are just repeating it. Because the one thing these speakers are not is "bright". Flat maybe, but not bright. Let me explain why.

Most of you are used to listening to processed sound directed at you. Most speakers have woofers, midrange and tweeters. What these separate speakers do is take the frequencies it receives and exagerrates it to your ears. Many people think they have a good speaker if they get thumping bass and tingy highs at the same time. I ocassionally like that as well, but it doesn't mean the Bose is an inferior product.

Bose AM1x doesn't have any of those. No woofers. No Midrange speakers. No Tweeters. (I would repeat the last three sentences..., but for the sake of keeping it short). They have full-range drivers (a technological breakthough in itself). It "reproduces" the signals from your system. It may be one of the most versatile speaker systems available, in that it works well with everything. It gives you a natural sound that is not tingy or exagerrated (For all you Infinity or Cerwin Vega fans out there).

I am no Bose apologist, but I realize what the system was designed to do. And for most of you to compare the AM1x to Towers is almost ridiculous when you realize the complete different technologies employed.

If you bought the Bose because of the "Bose" name, without understanding Bose technology and the resulting sound, then I understand why most of you don't know why speaker placement is crucial. "Reflecting Sound"? - Forget A'bout It!

Let me give you guys a suggestion. Get a Polk, then you can invite friends over and brag about the loud sound. Better yet, Get the Vega... Arrrgh, Arrrgh, Arrrgh!!

Strength:

People who never compare these to other speakers before buying them.

Weakness:

Having to listen to those people talk about how great these turds are.

These speakers underperform at any price point. Don't be
fooled. Dave, if you're ever close by I'll let you listen
to some serious Hi-Fi. Bring over your Bose cubes and
we'll do an A/B comparison. Any takers?

I have to give these speakers 2 stars because, after all,
they only have 10 Bose drivers (instead of the 15 in the
AM 15s).

Strength:

None that i can think of. Unless you want to fool yourself into believing that these are good speakers or justify your mistake by giving it 5 stars

Weakness:

Lots....
harsh
who says no audio fatigue?
Bad imaging
Just one bad speaker system

I used to be a great fan of Bose. I admire the technology and genius that went into the Wave radio/CD and their ability to create "Simulated" sound with the cubes.
but's that's the problem.
the sound is simulated.
it's not reference level
eversince they went production line ...they have sucked
i would not make the same mistake twice
In fact if you really want to know what these cubes are worth....open them up....see how cheap they are made....forget hand crafted ....the new jewel cubes are PLASTIC!!!!
goto http://www.speakersupply.com
and check out the driver used in these cubes for 35 bucks....that's right...you can make your own cubes for 1/5th of the price and they'll probably sound better

Great speakers for their size. Excellent highs, not to harsh at all. Can listen for hours and not get ear fatigue, like with the other named speakers.Great for movies and music. Now for Alan, get a life,if you had a job you wouldn't be able to sit around all day and bash other pieces of equipment, which by the way you probably never owned. If you had a job maybe you could afford the bose and see that they really are great speakers.

Strength:

Size is only strength. Nothing else

Weakness:

1st off bass, my mini system for my bedroom sounds tighter and deeper than the bose. Mid's are non existant

I am casual listener mbut like my bass. I listen to R&B, Jazz and Hip Hop. I was dissapointed when i hooke dup muy bose am 10's for the first time. I even went and bought subwoofer to see how they would balance out. My existing 7 year old speakers sound better than these bose. I have 12" cerwin vegas for front speakers, JBL surround speakers, and an infinity center speaker and combined with the new subwoofer i bought they sound awsome compared to the bose. You are basically paying for the bose name instead of high quality product. Defineltely a no win situation if oyu buy these speakers. Waste of money and time o set them up.
