VALENTINE COOKIES
Makes 22 dozen 1 1/2-inch cookies

This recipe makes a lot of cookies, but it can be halved, or you can freeze a portion of the dough for up to three weeks.
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
4 2/3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup pale-pink or white sanding sugar (optional)
Petal dust in pink, orange, and violet tones (optional)
2/3 cup apricot or strawberry jam , slightly warmed (optional)

1. In bowl of electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar until fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt into large bowl. On low speed, gradually add flour mixture to mixer bowl, alternating with buttermilk, until combined. Wrap dough in plastic; chill until firm, 1 hour or overnight.

2. To color white sanding sugar, if using: Place a few tablespoons in a small bowl. Mix in petal dust with a toothpick, a bit at a time, until desired shade is reached. Colored sanding sugar will last indefinitely.

3. Heat oven with two racks centered to 350º. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. On lightly floured surface, roll chilled dough 1/8 inch thick. Cut out hearts using any 1- to 3 1/2-inch heart cookie cutters. If desired, cut centers out of some hearts. Transfer with spatula to baking sheets. Chill for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with sanding sugar, if using. Bake until just golden but not too brown, about 10 minutes. Transfer cookies to rack. Continue with dough; reroll scraps.

4. To make sandwich hearts: Brush bottom heart lightly with jam; cover with a second heart with center cut out; jam will adhere hearts. Fill cut-out area with more jam. Cookies will keep, in an airtight container, at room temperature for 1 week.

These cookies even sound better that Bose speakers.

I see all the reviews, and I can honestly say that if your buying satelite speakers for music and home thearter you got your head up your @*#!!! I've been into audio&video for over 20 years and I sold audio&video too! I was selling audio&video when satelite speakers first came out! My ears could tell the difference between different brands of cassette's! I'm not talking about $1 campared to $8 tapes.
I'm talking about the difference in brand names! SO IF YOU THINK THAT ANY SATELITE SPEAKERS ARE GOING TO SOUND AS GOOD AS A GOOD PAIR OF FLOOR SPEAKERS FOR MUSIC YOU SHOULDN'T BE RESPONDING TO ANY TYPE OF AUDIO&VIDEO EQUIPMENT. LEARN WHAT TO LISTEN FOR! I LISTENED TO ALL OF THE SATELITE BRANDS AND NONE OF THEM SOUNDED GOOD WITH MUSIC PLAYING THROUGH THEM, IF YOU LISTEN TO ALOT OF MUSIC INVEST IN A GOOD PAIR OF FLOOR SPEAKERS, THERE'S NOTHING LIKE IT! I BOUGHT BOSE BECAUSE THEY ARE SO EASY TO SET UP YOUR ROOM AROUND THEM. THE OTHER BRANDS LIMIT YOU, AND IT'S VERY HARD TO GET THEM SET UP JUST RIGHT!

SO I SUGGEST THAT ALL OF THE PEOPLE THAT WROTE THOSE BAD REVIEWS, STOP TALKING OUT OF YOUR *%$, AND LEARN HOW TO LISTEN TO SPEAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strength:

Good sound, Good looks

Weakness:

Somewhat weak base

It is a pity that the anti-Bose folks don't provide enough calm, reasoned, factual information to help others trying
to make a decision. Almost without exception, they come across as 16 year old children having a temper tantrum.

Others, mostly favorable reviewers, provide insight into their experiences without the foaming invective.

My review:
These units seem to do what I need fairly well. They provide
good, but not excellant sound in a moderate sized (15'x24')
room with a mixture of hard surfaces and open areas to
other rooms. The base response is not 'thumping', but is quite adequate for my needs. As with almost every speaker
system I have listened to in imperfect listing enviroments,
that is to say your average home/apartment, there are
anomolies and quirks.

I suspect that most anyone with a critical ear will find something to hate about these and every other system. The
key is to decide what is important and what is not. For
me, being able to install 5 sets of unobtrusive speakers
around the room and have reasonably good sound is what I got. I didn't get perfect sound reproduction in a room that
would have made that impossible anyway.

It would be nice if this site had a moderation system that
allowed the filtering of the obviously clueless negative
'reviewers'. Hint to negative reviewers: Stick to the facts.
No adult will listen to you if you insist on being abusive
or overly cutsie with your reviews.

Id10t's who "BOSE Bash" I tell you this...

If you want it to sound real accurate and/or extremely loud then buy sound stage speakers with big massive 30" woofers and Horns galore because thats what they really use on stage.

otherwise, set your system right shut-up and enjoy the music.

If your not satisfied with the bass then try
"Bass management" Read about it at Polk Audio site its actually very interesting and contradicts the mainstream
approach.

I'm using a Yamaha reciever.

Home theater users MUST do this: In your reciever, set all speakers except the mains to small (especially the center no matter what others say)and channel LFE to mains...Done

See how simple that was and how it sounds now.

When I run my powered Sub it actually seems to reduce the Bass because Waves can cancel each other.

This sound stuff is Science like Bose says !

Strength:

Nothing on the market that compares to the Bose cubes sizewise with the same results. Wide full clean crisp sound with good tonal qualities.

Weakness:

Not for the goes to 11 people out there ;)

I like how people who don't even own these speakers review them, yeah that makes sense :P "B&W", what are you nuts not even in the same price range, only thing good B&W makes is the Nautilus series all the others sound too flat in comparsion. Anyone out there who thinks these don't sound good has their head up their arse!

Strength:

Compact, tight and sweet!

Weakness:

Wish they came in Silver!

I love these speakers just wish they came in Silver to match my Sony Wega! I had these for over a year and they still impress me dynamically, great range of highs, mids and lows though sometimes seem a little starved on the lows but it depends on the signal. Some DVD's just sound better in stereo depending on what Dolby level they are at. I highly recommend these baby's to anyone don't believe any of these negative reviews, thems people just use to work for Bose and are disgruntled employees probably. Ciao!

Strength:

Size and compatibility with room, clear sound (mostly), good for home theater.

Weakness:

Poor bass and need to purchase a sub woofer. The sound is not clear on some Music CD's.

The Bose AM 10 is defiitely facing some heat on these pages. I would agree that it is a bit overpriced- but for those of who blieve in buying stuff with "reputed" names, that is a premium. The sound is good for home theater, and decent for listening to CD's. Overall, it is not as bad as some people here say. However, would u recommend me to buy it? NO! Look a little bit more, it will be worth it.
