question to all of you who are putting down these speakers,
do you know how these speakers were designed, what they were desigened for, and what they are meant to sound like?? how can you put down a speaker it is all your own opinion. these were meant to sound flat and natural, and espessaly not to be a speaker for bass. it seems that whoever put these down focused on bass, how about mids and higs. if you want something for bass go to best buy and get some cerwin vegas and shut up. you were probly running these off of a kenwood reciver, huh? before you go off running you mouth think about how they should sound, think about what kind of equiptment you should have. it is very hard to find a good match amp for these speakers. so please don't jump to conclusions and look at the overall picture, espessaly the amp amd speaker wire!!

Having owned a pair of these speakers for some time now, all I can say is that they outperform anything in the same price range.
Treble and mid-range are reproduced with brilliant detail, and bass response is very accurate through all types of music. Don't let anyone mis-lead you with "too harsh" or "not enough bass" claims. Bi-wire these babies, use a decent amplifier and you'll be amazed.

In Australia the B&W range is quite expensive, however I definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a floor standing speaker for around $2000 AUS.

Strength:

detailed highs,crisp midrange,tight bass,perfect for stereo
or HT applications.

Weakness:

might need a powered sub to fill-in the lower ends

I've owned these speakers for about 3 years now and i'm very satisfied with them. Currently, singled wired but will experiment with biwire in the future. Also heard that these speakers matches really (i mean really)well with Rotel power amps. These speakers do not reaches as low as the NHT, but i love its tight and punchy bass. Definitely worth an audition before purchasing any speakers in this price range. Listen and you will see...

Strength:

Excellent sound balance... A tweeter to die for. Deep and booming bass, and, yes, a B&W must, the yellow midrange (which looks really cool)

Weakness:

Woofer could use a bit more action when you drive the speakers hard.

The best pair of speakers for $1000.
