These speakers are outstanding for the money. Do not operate these with cheapie electronics or will hear the shrill high end others complain about. The styling and finish are first rate. Rush out and get these if you are in the market for a high-end low-cost speaker.

Strength:

Clear, tight, musical sound, and the classiest aesthetics in its price range.

Weakness:

Carefully match with your amp. The speakers are easy to drive, but very detailed, and can sound harsh with some amps.

These are top-class speakers. I auditioned extensively before purchasing, comparing against many other brands as well as B&W's 803s, and found the 703s to offer the best combination of clarity, balance, authority, musicality, value, and good aesthetics. Visually, the walnut finish (there are 5 veneer choices) and curved top is even classier in my home than I imagined. Definitely use care when choosing an amp with which to pair these, as some combinations drive the 703s over the edge in terms of ear-fatigue (which might explain the below negative review). My McIntosh pre/pro combo renders a gorgeous, detailed yet musical sound that one could listen to 24 hours/day without fatigue. These speakers excel equally at any genre (especially when coupled with the B&W sub). Very highly recommended.

Strength:

Very full dynamic sound Excellent Bass

Weakness:

None so far

Decided to take my dealer up on the upgrade policy and purchased these about three weeks ago. When I heard that the 700 series were replacing my trusty CDM 1's I assumed it would be just a cosmetic upgrade, but after listening, I have to say that I am very impressed with the 703's. The dealer offered the CDM 9's for less but the 703's sounded more full, and the bass was tighter and faster. The midrange and tweeter sounded the same to me but, overall, I thought it was worth the extra cost. I also added a Bryston amp and I'm extremely happy with my setup (although the 803's may be calling my name in a year or so).

Strength:

Superb woodwork. Elegant styling. Fine, deep, fast paced bass. Excellent imaging.

Weakness:

Unrefined midrange with edgy aggressive behavior. Top end too bright.

I purchased the new 703 to upgrade from my previous pair of B&W CDM7NT models. The looks of the new model are very clean and sharp, and as always the woodwork is top notch in assembly and quality. Sonically, this new model was a mild shock and disappointment, as the overall sound is very upfront. I find the midrange quite edgy sounding bordering on fatiguing after long listening sessions. Bass was nice and tight, with fine depth. The tweeter has the same crispness as the older CDM series, but again appears to have been set too high in level, causing more fatigue. Changing to a tube amplifier did help matters somewhat, but even after 2 months of running in, the system is plagued with an "In your face" sound quality. Quite uncharacteristic of the finest British loudspeakers. Perhaps in an attempt to reveal more sonic detail, it appears B&W has produced a product that borders on the unacceptable except perhaps for the absolute finest music source available. Hopefully B&W will refine this product further and make it more appealing. Until then, the older CDM and Nautilus 800 series stand head and shoulders over this model.

Strength:

evenness and flow through the frequency range. It's all there.

I've just had the 703's for a week and I love them. Supposed to take about 200 hors for break in. So I will post more or again after more listening time. As for asthetics these things are beautifil. I got the cherrywood, lighter than i thought it would be but still just awesome looking.
