Hope none, I'm reading this web site!!!

Well let me join the rest of you who submitted your claims about the Big White Van, I had a pretty female drive, and her male passenger, Van full of speakers, mid towers, DVD's Blah, Blah, Blah. Showed me the pretty laminated brochure, with a proce tag of $1395, I gave them $200.00 after visting my local ATM. She was good, fast, and a smooth talker. I'll hook them up and let you know what I think. Funny, I didn't know that you couldn't go to the police with this kind of shi@#. Now I've gotta make up some BullShi#$@# story to tell my wife!!!

I never had heard of this deal. The early-twenties dudes - 3 white guys (carson daily fan's) and an asian dude who did all the talkin - pulled up in the van shouting that they got overstocked audio equipment in their van.

Sweet deal, $3,600 worth of stuff, and he'd give it to me for $500. I talked him down to $300. I got it home within minutes with a sick feeling in my stomach, and searched the web immediately.

Needless to say, in the blink of an eye I was in my car again in hot pursuit of these guys who had just pocketed my October car payment. I could feel my blood boiling. Lucky me, I found them, two miles down the road, got them to stop, and actually got my money back without getting my teeth kicked in. One thing i must say, they were polite.

my words: "sorry guys, my internet search didn't really show any results on this stuff. I just can't do it"

Well, here is a past episode to the infamous "White Van Scam". This was about 4 yrs ago. I was on my way home from work and was yelled out by 2 guys in a white van saying "do you want some speakers?". Ive always been a music junkie and decided to see what they had to show. We pulled over into a furniture store parking lot where the 2 guys proceeded to open up thier van. These 2 guys were mid 20's with polo shirts that said something like Audio Warehouse. They told me the same ol story about the idiots in the warehouse loaded up too many speakers and they wanted to make some quick cash off of them. The story sounded believable, they had paperwork showing the MSRP and warranty info and everything. The guys had name tags and were real good talkers. I looked at the speakers and they looked pretty good. Ive seen enough in my time to know what a good pair should look like. I was in the market for a pair and they were asking $500 for both. I told them my bank had a $200 limit on what I could take out of the ATM each day. They looked at each other and told me that $200 cash would be fine if I included the watch I had on. My watch is a $75 fossil that was a birthday present from my girlfriend. I told them no way on the watch. $200 only. After talking it over the 2 agreed on $200. They proceeded to load the speakers into the back of my truck. I needed to go to the ATM and one of the guys wanted to ride along with me. I was a little weary of this but agreed. On the way to the ATM the guy was trying to include CD's I had in my truck in the deal. I told him that $200 was already agreed on and that was it. We finally got to the ATM and I paid the guy $200 cash. I felt like I had gotten such a great deal I called my buddy to let him know. Once I told him I bought some speakers he said "you didnt buy them out of the back of a van did you"? I was so pissed. I was scared to hook them up but when I did I was satisfied with the purchase. The speakers are probably worth $150-$200, I have used them for 4 years and used them hard. I like all types of music and everything sounds good out of them. I just recently bought a POLK audio system so have no need for the others. But I did get some good years out of them. While I do think I got scammed, I feel I at least got a product that gave me a few years out of it. Im just glad I didnt pay more and got to keep my watch.

A buddy i work with bought some of these speakers from a van yesterday and i offered to buy them off of him after i did some research. Low and behold, this was the first site i came across. He paid 160 for 4 audio image sattelites. Seems like a relatively good deal compared to the rest of you guys. Sorry for all your misfortune, but i can't help but chuckle. I just hope to god i run into some of these guys some day. It would be quite fun to toy with them.

Strength:

they are cheap as hell. they're so cheap you can wreck them and not feel bad. also held some power being thrown at them.

Weakness:

they are just cheap speakers.....what can you say....

ha,ha,ha....
these speakers are legendary!
i traded an old beat-up chevy calalier for ours.

took them to burningman, thrashed the hell out of them, left them in the rain, and brought 'em back home.

the driver material is surprisingly burly. ---but cheap, ugly speakers. they are great for camping outdoors, and dragging behind your car!
probably good for the not-so-rich fratboy to spill beer on at some football college.

we will be blowing mine up with some m-80's and a half stick.

go buy yourself some swans diva 6.1 speakers. you can find them at av123.com. best speakers for the money ever!

Entertaining Stories, Solid Speakers, Masterful Sales Tactics

Weakness:

None but Some Buyers may be Missing the Point

Solid speakers, solid sales tactics!

Nice exterior, heavy (doesn't look cheap - looks like they cost way more than they are really worth) and a decent price. Good wear and tear, too.

Don't believe everything you hear and don't believe everything you read!

It seems to me that the people who said they were 'scammed' may be missing the point...

According to the fabricated story, the speakers were available for a low price because of a mistake in the order (number of units shipped, etc.). Although the 'delivery dudes' were willing to 'give' them away for beer money and pocket cash, these speakers did not belong to them. They belonged to someone else. Someone, somewhere would still have to pay for these extra speakers (ultimately, we the consumers would end up paying for them through higher prices like we pay for shoplifting and other crimes against commercial businesses).

In other words, the buyers (believing the fabricated story) not only tried to get something for nothing, they had no moral qualms about profiting from someone (ultimately, everyone) else's loss.

Well, the unlucky buyers have now realized that someone else (the delivery dude riding around in a brand new ford explorer) has profited from them.

Do they have any right to complain?

They intended to stick it to all of us and then they come crying to us here for our sympathy when someone sticks it to them?

Some have gone as far as saying they would call the police and beat the delivery dude up...

Maybe these people should call the police on themselves and beat themselves up because they have only themselves to blame.

Economic Darwinism 101.

BTW, the actual price is $78. Anything the sales professional can get above and beyond that goes into the pocket of the delivery dude (less taxes, of course). New explorer on the horizon! :)

Delivery Boy.

Strength:

Workmanship is not bad. Sound great with my satellite TV setup.

Weakness:

Too much bass causes some distortion of mid frequencies.

OK, I bid on these speakers on eBay without really thnking I would win them. I could find much info on them until after the auction was ended, then I found these reviews. I was pretty sick about it, because I figured I had been had like everyone else. Even the guy I bought them from got them from the white van guys. Not wanting to lose my good feedback record, I sent the money and got the speakers. My first impression was that they are heavy for their size (about 42 pounds for the both of them.) Second impression was they actually looked very decent, both the workmanship and the speaker drivers looked pretty good. The "titanium" tweeter is kind of cheap looking, but because of the housing, it's really hard to tell much about it. The rear/side tweeter is a basic piezo tweeter from the looks of it. So, I brought them home and hooked them to my regular stereo system (NAD integrated amp, Sony ES CD player.) They sounded OK, but certainly didn't turn me on. I listened to them several hours and they didn't get any better--a little boxy, colored sounding. I decided I would hook them up to my bedroom system where I have my DISH Network satellite system running into a newer, but basic Kenwood receiver. I listened to some music through them, and again, they were OK but not exciting. Then I tried them with some TV programs and finally some movies from the movie channels. I was beginning to be impressed. I think this is what these speakers were really intended for. I was using a set of 3-way Optimus (decent, but not great) but the A.I. speakers really outshine them in their realism. The stereo separation was much better, the sound was more open, quite a bit more depth and sense of position to the material. Reproduction of the entire frequency range is pretty smooth, but a subwoofer would probably really give some depth. I can sit just about anywhere in the room and get good stereo separation and presence. I'm definitely going to keep them as my AV speakers, but really couldn't recommend them for most musical content listening, but for TV and movies, they are not bad at all, and might make a pretty good set of front speakers in a surround setup. I think they are certainly worth up to $150, but I doubt if I would pay much more than that. (I'm el cheapo anyway.) It is unfortunate that these have gotten so many negative reviews by folks who are mad at themselves for allowing the "white van" guys to scam them. It is also unfortunate that whoever makes/distributes these speakers feels they have to resort to those methods to sell them. Before anyone posts any more angry reviews, why don't you try to get over your buyer's remorse and hook them up to your AV system and give them a try and post an objective review.

EVERYTHING!

Ok! I knew somewhat what I was getting into but I didn't know that the Speaker SUCKED! The guy came up to me at a gas station saying that he had an over supply of speaker and wanted to make a quick buck for it. I've seen over supplies before and have bought some but those were from friends working at legit stores. Anyhow, the guy wanted to half of what the stated orig cost, which is $1200. I counter offered and said $300 deal is done. Before I gave him the money I had him open the box and I inspected each speakers. They look decent enough so I thought it was safe.

I figured that $150 for each speaker is not bad. HUH! Now I feel like a heal since I found this web site and listened to the speakers. I have sent this web site to all my friends to help eliminate them being SCAM and be aware that this is going on nationwide.

Life lesson learn: Never buy anything off the street, especially if you don't know them.

Strength:

Weakness:

people crying about paying for speakers

I bought a pair of speakers a few months ago, and a subwoofer a few days later. They are fantastic. I read on this site about all of the people who got "scammed". Whatever. The sales tactics may not be traditional, but I think that the product speaks for itself. Two guys and a girl sold me the speakers, and two other guys the sub. Everyone should plug the damned speakers in before deciding to kick the salesman's ass if they ever see them again. I think that it has become fashionable to bash these guys on this site. I paid more than a lot of people did, but I am very pleased. If I ever need speakers again, I'll just look for the white van!!
P.S. Thank God I didn't see this site before buying the speakers.
