Klipsch RC-35 Center Channels

Klipsch RC-35 Center Channels

DESCRIPTION

As the leading supplier to the cinema industry, Klipsch understands that a movie falls apart if every whisper of dialog is not heard. The new Reference Series RC-35 center channel has been engineered to deliver all the detail, subtleties and dynamics required for the ultimate home theater experience. This mind-blowing performer is a refined version of the RC-3 II and incorporates new features to enhance performance and installation flexibility.

The RC-35 delivers detailed, subtle and thrilling sounds through dual 6.5-inch woofers and a 1-inch tweeter that has a light titanium-dome diaphragm and a high-energy, video-shielded Neodymium magnet. The tweeter is coupled to an exclusive Klipsch square Tractrix® Horn that boosts the driver’s already high sensitivity, while minimizing room interactions that cause a loss of sonic detail.

I think this is a great step up for me ! I had an rc-10 to start out my home theatre w/ rf-82's and rs-10's ... Them will be getting upgraded next !! So i bought this rc-35 for $145 and had it shipped to me free i will say its worth every dollar i payed vry happy w/ it, at first i thought it sounded like i will say what i been hearing. A lil muddy in spots ,but i did some settings w/ my yamaha htr-5890 140x7.. setup the built in eq and walla i was listening to sounds that u felt not just heard. This Center channel really did jump out of a shell i will tell ya!!! I now use the rc-10 for a surround back and its exceptional :) So my recommendation if you want it grabb it you wont be disapointed.. I think the people who are really knockin this speaker need to look more into their center channel sound options in their receiver !! Movies Tested ..... Pearl Harbor , Transformers , and mant others :)

Strength:

Nice fit and finish, not too big so that it can fit into a TV stand

Weakness:

No highs or lows, just mud in the middle. I have 130 going to each channel, which this speaker is recomended up to 150 watt continious.

this is a weak link if you have a decent home theater set up. I have the RF7 mains, and the RC35 cant keep up, very muddy, and no match for the RC7. I wanted the RC7 center channel but the size made it less practical. I am going to sell the RC35 and custom mount the RC7 over my Sony 55" LCD monitor.

If you don't mind a narrow muddy soundstage for the center channel at a price under 400, then the RC35 could work for you.

Strength:

Sonic capabilities, build quality.

Weakness:

Foot adjustment for height is nothing short of mickey mouse.

This is the third center channel i have purchased for my system.I have the RC-25 and the RC-7 as well.I really like the sonic capabilities of all three speakers and the build quality is excellent. The RC-35 was the last as i was waiting for a great price on a new speaker and i purchased it from Acoustic Sound Design. I use the RC-7 for my center and the other two for rear and side surrounds.I know there are many outstanding center channels available but for someone like myself who has always enjoyed horn speakers, these were my choice.

Strength:

No distortion. HT audio is well-represented. Eye-candy appearance (especially with the grilles off).

Weakness:

Large; may require a little bit of placement planning in your home theater setup. If this had been 1" taller, I'd have been in a pickle as to where to put it.

Replaced a JBL S-Center with this Center Channel speaker. Was immediately impressed by the size of the speaker when I took it out of the box. This thing is huge! I had to place it in a different location from that of the JBL, because the shelf above my 42" DLP TV wasn't going to support this speaker.

This speaker complements the Klipsh SB-35 mains and RW-12 sub I have.

This speaker performs superbly during all home theater applications. If I'm listening to or streaming music, I usually listen in stereo, so I can't attest to this speaker's "musicality." For my money, however, this is one of the best center channels out there.

Strength:

Bright, crisp highs. Superb mid ranges and even handles bass well (since I've yet to buy a sub-woofer)

Weakness:

Haven't found any yet

This is an excellent center channel for anyone looking for a "big" sound to their home theater system. It sounds great with my Harman Kardon AVR630. I wouldn't recommend anything else for this reciever.

Strength:

Well built, good overall sound.

Weakness:

Not necessarily a step up from the rc-25 as one would probably think, given the pretty big price difference between it and the 25, not to mention the larger horn and woofers. This is why this gets a 3 rating overall and only a 3 for value.

I have the same opinion as the reviewer below. I actually own rf-15s. The main reason I bought these over the rf-25s or 35s is I just didn't like the thickness in the midrange. This may be preferable to some people as the sound seems fuller, making male vocals chesty and resonate more, but to me it is less nuetral. Anyway, I've been thinking of purchasing either the rc-35 or rc-25 for quite some time now and I've had mixed opinions on the Klipsch forum. Most people told me to get the rc-35 because it's bigger and you don't want to skimp on the center channel. They're right, but I'll tell you now that bigger and more expensive doesn't translate to necessarily "better" in this case. Like the poster below, the thick, veiled sound of the rc-35 may be better in some cases/situations/opinions, but really the rc-25 is the clear winner if you want clarity and more detail in the crucial midrange. Some may think the rc-25 sounds bright and they may have more sensitive ears than I, but never did I feel during the audition that the highs were grating or harsh. The rc-25 also has that more "exciting/emotional" Klipsch hallmark sound. I can't really say the same for the 35. Don't get me wrong, the rc-35 is a good center speaker and it might work better for people with LARGE rooms and lots of wattage, but people with average sized rooms should go for the rc-25 and not look back. As with anything audio you're thinking of purchasing, figure out your priorities, take into account your environment, audition thoroughly and test in your home if possible. All speakers are built with different design philosophies in mind. Picking speakers that suit you is the important thing here. If you're like me, your priorities and listening habits are bound to change. If I could buy speakers that would keep me happy for a long time through all my listening/movie viewing habit changes those speakers would be be something from Thiel like CS 2.4s, but for now, I'm happy with my Klipsches. Out of all the speakers I've gone through (I've bought and sold many brands from KEFs to Paradigm Reference, to NHTs etc.),I enjoy the HT experience much more with my little Klipsches than anything I've owned so far and that's saying A LOT.

Strength:

loud vocals, if you have a bright system you may like it

Weakness:

closed in dark sound, too much woofer output not enough upper midrange unmusical

I was very disapointed. see other comments. I have RF-3 and had never upgraded to the RC-3 center. Not that I needed to just thought it would be better and a better match than my older KSF-C5. The RC-35 replace the RC3 so I though that would be better still. Well, not for my taste, and not a tonal match at all. I think the RC-25 might be a better choice, you might get better/more upper mids from the smaller woofers. To me though, this speaker is a step backwards. There is the possibility that I have a defective unit but I dont think so.
