Strength:
slim.....ummm well its slim.
Weakness:
sounds like sh*t.. Well I shot myself in the foot with this one. I was stupid not to research this speaker but I thought HEY its Bose.. it can't be bad. I have a set of 401's and a set of 301's so why not get a matching center. WRONG. The only thing they match is that they suck. I got better sound from a cheap sony center I got in trade. But I was convinced it was my receiver (JVC RX-888V)and not my VCS-10. So I got a Denon AVR 3801. Guess what.. It still sucks. Similar Products Used: sony, JBL centers |

Strength:
No audible distortion; Very accurate voice reproduction; Appearance & size; Spacious sound
Weakness:
None This speaker is how a center-speaker should be. Fits nicely on almost all TV's. The speaker configuration ensures a wide sound-image. Excellent reproduction of voices. Similar Products Used: Quadral, Sony, Philips |

Strength:
small, looks good, name
Weakness:
power handling, highs, bass What a rip. I was always told that BOSE makes great speakers (the best). Research was the motto right? Well, besides the fact that this speaker looked good and had the name BOSE on it, it had very little to offer. Sounds at higher volume were distorted especially when listening to music. As for Television, voices were muffled. It sounded like this right out of the box. If you are going to buy a center channel speaker, don't buy this one. I was glad to see the reviews agreed. I thought I might be the only one. Bose does make great speakers, but only high end. Their attempts to tap into the middle class income market has been a failure. If you want a good center channel speaker for around $200, I'd stick with Polk or Cerwin Vega. Reasonbly priced and much more bang for the buck. Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega LS 6C |

Strength:
Very small and wieghs less than a gallon of milk.
Weakness:
About $14 of overall parts. I will consider the B&W CC-3 to be an ample comparison... Seeing as how it costs LESS and performs about 4x better than the product in question. If your center speaker MUST fit into a space 2" high, than by all means, this is the one for you... However if that is not a requirement than the B&W CC-3 or, well... Anything else that implements discrete drivers and a crossover-- something that one spending $220 would come to expect; will deliver vastly superior sound. Amazing thing those tweeters... But don't listen to me, do a side by side comparison or a "DOUBLE BLIND TEST" (the bose-o-philes standard claim to fame) and see for yourself. all in all I find it hard to understand why anyone who cares about their movies dynamics would EVER throw away even $50 on this thing. Strength:
Looks, low profile design
Weakness:
Sound! Unfortunately I fell prey to Bose's marketing campaign and purchased the VCS-10. However after replacing my complete system (receiver and speakers) I moved the Bose center channel to my second TV. I decided at that time to compare it to my previous center channel speaker which was gathering dust since the bose purchase. I guess I had grown use to such a pathetic, flat sound - because when I switched to my old speaker, I heard all kinds of sounds that I didn't know were there! I was much fuller and brighter. The bose is simply designed to look good while sacrificing performance. It sounds very flat and shallow. Similar Products Used: Energy encore, one other (can't remember the name) |

Strength:
Looks pritty
Weakness:
Sounds terrible I made the huge mistake on not listining to this before I bought it. At the time, I thought so much of Bose I though it MUST also sound great. Boy was I wrong. What a piece of junk. I gave it away and bought a Boston Acoustics 910 instead. Talk about night and day... Similar Products Used: Boston Acoustics 910 |

Strength:
Matches rest of bose products
Weakness:
not very good on highs and lows This center matches the rest of the bose line of products, it is not very good if you don't have a complete bose setup. If you don't like the sound of bose this center is not for you. |

I have owned this speaker for only a little while. However, I can say that I am pleased with it's performanc so far. In spite of Bose apparent decline in performance on others in their product line, I feel that the VCS-10 is a welcome addition to any mid-range home theater system. One notable benefit is that this speaker's design makes it as omni-directional as a center channel speaker can be. In a large room, it fits perfectly as you do not loose quality if you are off-center to the video screen. The VCS-10 handles bass well but lacks a conventional tweeter. Therefore, you lose some of the high end sound. |

I purchased the center channel because I wanted to keep the system bose. The infinity cc2 was much better but it wasn't bose. I have the am5's in front, am3's in the rear and a boston acoustic sub for extra bass. The system is pretty good but the infinity would have been better. |
