Strength:

Range, clarity

Weakness:

None

I traded for this from a CC6 on a whim and I'll never underestimate the importance of a center speaker again.

This is an amazing center. Not only do dialogue now come out clearer, but all onscreen activity now also comes out bright, loud, and cleanly. All the other speakers seem to benefit from a strong center cause surround activity seems to become better too.

Singing voices especially sound so much better.

Strength:

WOW!! This center speaker simply sounds amazing, especially under $500.

Weakness:

NONE....

I'm looking for an inexpensive center(TV's audio in is not cutting it.) I listened to some Polks, Paradigms, NHTs and Klipschs at various local CHAIN audio stores, I simply didn't like the sound of any of these speakers listed above (especially the Klipsch, it's just harsh.)
Then I remembered how good my B&W bookshelf speakers sound when I was in collage. Log on to B&W's web site and found Freehold Stereo.
Tony L. @ Freehold Stereo was very helpful in my decision for this center speaker. I told him my price range and what this center must match well with...(see system below)
Tony demo the Atlantic Tech.(more expensive), a very spacious but TOO open sounding center. Then he demo the B&W, spacious and very accurate.... SOLD.
I can't believe what a good center can do to the home theater. The B&W is like a BRIDGE for my front mains, diaglog is seamless between left and right.
Highly recommended!!

Strength:

Clear and distinct dialogue with a pleasing natural tonality plus all the very appealing 600 Series 2 sound qualities.

Weakness:

Nothing significant

It was bigger than the CC6 S2 but not, when compared to the CDM CNT. And since I already owned a pair of 603 S2 loudspeakers, the obvious choice was the LCR6 S2 for the center loudspeaker in my HT. After several auditions in either HT or Audio set-up configuration both as center loudspeaker or as stereo pairs, I was very pleased by its ability to constantly present a seamless transition of sound from channel to channel, as if in one voice. In a more critical Direct Stereo mode, its mid to lower bass rivaled its close sibling, the 602 S2, with perhaps, just a slightly tighter mid-bass response - a pleasant surprise. Dialogue was crystal clear and natural in tone. The rest of its sterling high and mid-range sound qualities were expectedly B&W. I was so impressed that I decided to get a pair for my rear surround loudspeakers, as well.

Strength:

Well built, great sound, blends nicely with my B&W's 601's

This is just a first impression review. More will be coming in about 1 month due to break in.

Right out of the box this speaker blows away the new line of B&W's CM C. The CM C sounded hallow and presented a contrast to my 601's.

When I hooked up the LCR I knew this was the missing link. I just can't wait until it has time to break in. I am hearing sounds from the DVD that I did not hear from my CM C.

Now is the time to buy these because of LCR6 S3 coming out.

More detail coming later on.

Strength:

Amazing clarity, good bass.

Weakness:

None whatsoever.

The LCR6S2 is the best speaker I have come across at this price point. It integrates superbly with my 603S2 fronts and I would unreservedly recommend it.

Strength:

Matches well w/ other speakers in series

Weakness:

dialogue is unclear

I bought this speaker w/out auditioning it because I had already decided that the 600 series was the way to go and the smaller center channel speaker in the series wasn't going to make it. The dealer didn't have one in stock, but based on reviews here I decided to purchase. Here's my problem: I can't understand the dialogue in movies!! I have tried raising the level of the center channel speaker but get inordinately loud effect sounds compared w/ the voices. I've resorted to turning of the center channel on some films and even turning on the subtitles just so I can follow the movie. The effects sound great and seem to create a good soundstage w/ my 604's but I'm going to have to make a change. I can either go w/ an unmatched ctr speaker or replace the whole speaker system, neither of which seems to be an appealing solution. I really wanted to like this speaker but...Anyone else had a similar problem? The only thing I can think of is that the speaker is enclosed in a fairly tight space in the cabinet under my TV.
Other equipment:
Marantz SR-19ex (love it)
Sony DVD player
fnts B&W 604 S2's
rears B&W 601S2's

Strength:

High quality built, Kevlar drivers, and it's B&W!

Weakness:

none, so far...

I've use it for the Surround Center (6.1ch). Actually, I was hoping to find a specific speakers for surround center spks, but unfortunetly B&W don't have it yet. Anyway, I played Gladiator (DTS-ES) and the effect came from the surround center speaker was absouletly breathtaking. It's soft yet clean and focus. It's a perfect combination with my B&W SCM THX Surround Speakers. However, I think it's a bit too expensive if you're planning to use it as a surround center, but then again, it's B&W!

This may be the best Center under $500. Very deep and controlled lows, accurate and tight in the mids. 6.5" woofers will be the standard in the future when the industry figures out that center channels must be full range. Too much junk even in the $350 range. The B&W CC6 was weak in the lows and the impact wasn't there, I guess in small rooms and with a pair of $350 mains it would be OK. The CC3, with all its good reviews, really means people don't value any good sound from the center or surround speakers- the three fronts must be of equal quality, and Dipole rears will be the standard in the future. The Klipsch RC-3 #350 should be listened to and the Def. Tech. $500 C/L/R 2002 is deep sounding but uncontrolled and very unimpressive considering the reviews I've read.

I love this speaker. I had a problem. About 6 months ago I had a pair of CDM1-SE fronts and wanted to go home theater. The CDM series center channel would not fit on top of my TV, so I went with the CC6 and 601 rears. I've always been disappointed in the dialogue coming from the CC6. I couldn't realy put my finger on it, just lacking. Often found myself rewinding to pick up missed dialogue. I went by my local shop last week and there is the LCR6. Did an A/B with the new CC6 series 2, and realized what I was missing. Fortunately my shop has a trade-up policy. I've had it set up for a week now and the difference is definately noticeable. Even my wife notices.
