By far the best center channel speaker (atleast that's how
I am using it) I have heard. The voices are crystal clear
and the distinction between voice and music is great.

The CC6 S2 did not even compare to the LCR6 S2.
As some people have suggested, spend the extra $100-150
for this speaker, its definately worth it.

Strength:

very dynamic, good frequancy range for a centre...superb in fact, cabinet volume helps improve richness of sound, good all round.

Weakness:

a bit on the large side. other than that, nothing.

This one i have here is actually the new series 3 model: lcr600 S3, rather than the lcr6 S2. The spec is exactly the same but it has been improved in minor ways. So now it sounds even better. More refined.

I HAD the cc6 and was appaled at its sound quality and depth. clarity AND depth were pretty poor. The centre speaker is the most important speaker, so make sure you get the right one.

This is so much better. I didnt notice in the shop when auditioning, but now i have it home i really can. It has a great punch to it, superb depth and clarity. And this is straight out of the box! Expect a 20% increase in sound quality after 50+ hours. It is big but it dosnt both me. even on my 28" widescreen it looks fine.

Blends perfectly with 602, 603, 604 in its soundstage.

Warm, dynamic and lovely. This is the best performance relative to price you can get. £350 is an absolute bargain.

Buy it.

B&W hasn’t failed in any way when they made this product!

B&W has not forgot the surround people who want sublime movie sound from the centre channel. The top featured model B&W LCR6S2, turns to critical movie people, who careful chose the components to their home theatre, so that they can achieve the coal: To get the best possible movie experience.

B&W LCR6S2
LCR is an abbreviation for Left, Centre and Right, which clearly indicates, that this is not a normal centre speaker. The special about LCR6S2 is the placement and internal match of the drivers, which makes it possible to place it either in standing and lying position. LCR6S2 can also be used on all channels thereby you can obtain the ideal surround-sound with completely voice matching on all channels.

Nautilus-technique and Kevlar units
The 1” alu-tweeter is identical with the ones used in the rest of the 600 series 2. With the new developed, flat and foamed suspension loss of micro information will be reduced, and down to a minimum. The essence in the tweeter construction is the Nautilus-technique, where the air pocket behind the diaphragm is lead out in a tube with damping material. The performance from the tweeter is therefore very released and detailed. The new developed 6,5” Kevlar bass and 6,5” bass/mid drivers, makes the LCR6S2 capable of delivering an impressive SPL (sound pressure level), and in my little room very impressive, without compression and with clear reproduction of vocals and sound effects. All speaker manufactures has soon to find out that a centre channel needs 6,5” not 5” drivers, if you want absolute home theatre impact. LCR6S2 has a rear port, where B&W has used their highly acclaimed Flow port – a tube with many small pits as a golf ball. I find the result of the flow port technology impressive; it gives pure bass without distortion. If asked the LCR6S2 can drop to a very low point 48Hz (-6dB) which is quite good for a centre speaker.

The heavy weight of this baby also indicates that it is solidly built 13,5kg / 30lb is that impressive?

LCR6S2 is with its formidable sound the ideal choice as centre channel in any surround system and it easily blends into most existing surround systems. The optional is of course to combine it with B&W’s own DM600S2 series. I, my self, use it together with a Pair of B&W DM603S2 as main speakers. Both my centre and main speakers are Bi-Wired with TaraLabs Prism Bi-Wire. As rear speaker is use B&W DM602S2’s, for my rear speakers I use TaraLabs Klara SC. I also have a B&W ASW2000 subwoofer connected with an IXOS silver series subwoofer cable. My receiver is the tremendous Marantz SR-7000 and DVD-player is the Marantz DVD-7000, my analogous cable is a TaraLabs Prism 55i and my digital cable is a TaraLabs Prism D1 Digital.

All in all, this centre speaker is a bit of a beast, with delicious impact, and with excellent imaging, just as the director intended.

Again B&W has managed to make a product that has the ability to outperform many and more esoteric products. I paid only $415, fantastic!

I paid $415 and nothing compares at even twice the price! This centre speaker closes the price hole all the way to the B&W Nautilus HTM2 $1205.

After a long search for a perfect Center, it led me to LCR6 S2. I was smitten as I heard the sound coming off this incredible speaker.

The Brits really know a thing or two in building a beautiful product for all its money's worth.

I have biwired this a Yamaha RX795a running on B&W 602-S2 mains,Infinity Reference Rears( soon to be upgraded to 601 S2's.

I thank all my fellow contributors to this forum, also helping me decide the best centre speaker in the market.

I was missing dialog from movies and I upgraded the cc6s2 at my local electronics chain for this model. I had the cc6s2 biwired and I was still not hearing everything. I use a Pioneer Elite vsx26t receiver and it will automatically adjust the center speaker for you in order to offset any unbalanced signals. Most of the dvds I watched had to be adjusted with this automated feature. Since I replaced the center, the receiver has been stable, it has not adjusted its db for anything. This is truly a remarkable speaker. I have not heard the off axis default as stated earlier by someone else and I sit 9 to 10 feet from the center. The wife and children all noticed the difference in clarity when I hooked it up. You will not regret this investment and also dont forget to biwire.

Clearity, full range, power handling...

Weakness:

I have to say that I was a little suspicious about all the 5 star ratings this center channel has been receiving. But when I got mine yesterday, and the first moving I played was SPR, I must say, I was very impressed. When I had the CC6, I had to play it almost 5db louder then what I did today. The LCR6 is very clean and tight. Vocals were excellent and the bass was unbeleivable.

This is by far one the best CC on the market, and for the price, number one. I paid $615(cnd). List is $750.

Highly recom.

Strength:

Smooth highs, full tonality on dialogue vs. CC6 and NHT v 1.2 bi-wiring capability brings out the best of this center, left, right speaker. Easy to drive

Weakness:

a bit pricey for what it is, but consider the speakers I wanted were the Nautilus 800 series, this part of the 600 series is very reasonable then.

Everything is relative. Price/performance being no exception. I wanted the Nautilus 800 series speakers for my listening pleasure for movies/music. My budget on the other hand said an emphatic "NO". So the 600 series 2 including the 603, and CC6 seemed to fill the bill nicely for a time. The center channel while accurate and easy on my ears lacked the fullness and tonality I thought necessary for the dialogue box, so the upgrade to the LCR6 SERIES 2 was/is my next logical step. Priced in the $500.00 range or so, it does not represent the least expensive, nor the most. Remember, I wanted the 800 series initially. It was just to the right of just right. I listened to this speaker extensively at the store through various source material and amplification and made my mind up that this was what I wanted. So, I bought and took it home, and hooked up the Audioquest Bedrock in bi-wire mode. Using also the awesome Audioquest banana plugs on both ends. My Rotel RMB-1095 does the amplifier duties. Switching between the cc6 and the LCR6 is difference obvious to even the most casual listener. Even though efficiency of the 2 speakers are close, the LCR6 sounds louder and fuller sounding on Dialogue than the cc6. Making a strong case for the CC6 but with less output. Same great smooth highs, well deliniated midrange but bigger and with a better sense of ease. The question here is not a matter of better/worse, but ease of execution and extention. Lower bass response, and the Nautilus tube ring tweeter conspire to improve the highs a bit, and cross over points at 300hz and 4khz being about the right place to take advantage of the driver crew here. Binding posts are nice metal knurled "goldish" type that will accomodate heavy wide guage cable. Bananas are a snap with these posts too. Remove the shorting plates and go biwire and you are ready to go. Obviously as with anything else, break in of both cables and speaker are a must. I figure about 150 hours on the cable, and about 50 hours on the speaker to hear its true voice. Even still, the LCR6 out of the box does not offend and put me off with harshness and edge that I expected new out of the box. Though not as smooth as the store demo, time will tame any roughness I figure. The Nht I borrowed, also a store demo was fine in the mids, but the Tweeter was too aggresive for my taste and gear. A more mellow sounding amp is what the NHT wants. While the build and ancillaries are just fine, the B & W is smoother sounding with my gear. So if you have the 600 series 2 speakers and want full dialogue in music or movies, the LCR6 series 2 is the "ONE". Now I going to see how deep the rabbit hole goes on the "Matrix". As they say, "Listen and you will see". V.C. Thanks to Duke/Thang at Soundfactor in Pasadena. You have done it again.

Strength:

Crystal clear dialogue. Matches the DM 603 s2 better than the DM CC6 S2. Dialogues in HT is a lot clearer.

Weakness:

The mammoth size!!

I recently upgraded from the CC6 to the LCR6. The LCR6 is a
much better center channel speaker and is also flexible from
the point of view of vertical/horizontal orientation. My setup includes DM 603 S2 fronts which are a perfect match
for the LCR6 and DM 302 for the rear. At times the sound effects in HT are a bit overpowering but the clarity is
phenomenal. The CC6 was too weak and dialogues were barely
audible at times. I got this speaker for $449 which is an
excellent value considering the $349 for the CC6.
