Strength:

great for movie surround sounds

Weakness:

not so good for music

These speakers are absolutely fabulous as surrounds. For music though they have a lot to desire. But at low volumes they work great for music too.

Strength:

Good sound, compact size, heavy duty feel.

Weakness:

Dont expect to get booming bass from these (but hey, who would from 4" bass drivers?)

I recently purchased these to be used as surround speakers. Let me tell you, these speakers are great. Not only do they sound great, but the speaker cabinets feel durable and look cool with the grills off. Binding posts in the rear are an improvment over the cheap 1 way Jensens I had in the rear that had spring clips. Being able to use banana plugs on a speaker make connecting and disconnecting a breeze.

These speakers could easily be used in the front as well. I did for a period of about a week until I gathered the energy to mount them to the walls. You're going to want to use these with a sub however as the bass output of these are not going to shake your couch. But as I said, you cant expect these speakers to be ground shakers with 4" bass drivers.

Another person on here said that they are too heavy. I dont think they weigh more than 5 pounds each and as long as you find some decent meat in your walls to screw into, you wont have any problems with them falling.

Strength:

Clarity, Decent Bass for a small speaker

Weakness:

Weight- Hard to Mount

I have these babies hooked up as my surround channel and must say they perform excellent. I am using an old Pioneer Pro-Logic Reciever right now, while I save up to get an Onkyo TX-SD696. Despite this obvious handicap, the speakers produce the desired rear effects. I also hooked them up as mains just to test them out and with a decent sub, this would make a great sub/sat setup. My only complaint is the size. I had them mounted on the wall with the supplied mounts, and they ripped out of the wall of our apartment, so that's gonna be a pain to fix before we move out.

Strength:

great for rears, great price

Weakness:

bass

I bought these for rear speakers to complement my JBL ND310s I use as fronts. I don't think I could of made a better purchase. They sound great as surrounds.

I hear many people have bought these as fronts and were unsatisfied. I would definately spend a little more money for my fronts and keep these speakers for the surrounds. There's no better bargain.

Strength:

Durability, small size, leightweight

Weakness:

Plastic enclosure may offend your audiophile sensibilities

I purchased these speakers to replace the front speakers on my 5.1 setup. The previous units were part of the Midiland 8200 home theater package. I was looking for something which would have a wide-range (anything was better than the Midiland 3.5" drivers) and compact footprint since one of them would have to fit behind a door.
When shopping, I considered a KLH satellite speaker with swivel tweeter and this pair of JBLs. When listening in the store it was clear that the KLH's off-center listening was inferior to the JBLs. Despite the higher price tag, I bought the JBLs and integrated them into my home system.
Let me say that I wish I had not done that, and for the best possible reasons. The JBLs simply make my existing speakers sound inferior. Now I am upgrading my center channel to the JBL N-center and plan to upgrade the rears shortly as well. Initially I bought these speakers to enhance my DVD experience, but have found that I am also breaking out my CDs much more than I used to because they sound so much better on these speakers. To summarize, I am very pleased with the audio performance and feel that no other speaker surpasses it in its price category.
The other selling points of this speaker were the light -weight(due to a plastic enclosure), small footprint, and high power handling for its size. These points were important to me my particular situation since I am pressed for space but want large sound. Some may find the notion of a plastic enclosure a bit disturbing, but I find the speaker performs as well as other brands in its class (Polk, Infinity) which use traditional wood construction. Also, these speakers have taken several falls from their perches (thanks to careless friends) and have withstood them perfectly.
The only drawback to these speakers is that they require a subwoofer for truly enjoyable use. Cranking up the bass simply does not compensate for the lack of low bass exhibited by the 4" drivers. Otherwise, these speakers are first-rate in their price category and have transformed me into a tremendous JBL fan. I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade a satellite/bookshelf system.

I use these as the surround speakers in my HT setup. I must say that it was a marked improvement from the crappy Emersons. These speakers are really good. The sound is crisp and clear. I think they are perfect for the average consumer. True audiophiles may not agree. I must give my recommendation for people considering this product. Excellemt value for dollar. I used to use my N24s with a Sony STR-DE335. It sounded really good. Then I got a STR-DE875 and now I can adjust the treble and bass frequency response and volume. It sounds even better now.

Strength:

Mounting took 10 minutes.

Weakness:

Would like a heavier-duty wall braket.

Larger than I had expected them to be, I'm glad I didn't order the N26. Construction is a little better than I expected.

Extremely pleased with them, I can hear a lot of midrange detail that was missing in my old speakers. More bass than I expected for such a small speaker.

Will be purchasing more to replace other speakers in my 5.1 setup.

design, can be returned

I would not suggest purchasing these at retail price. To me they really aren't worth it, especially as your main speakers on a DTS receiver. I purchased these and I was somewhat dissapointed with them. They sounded good, but that's it. They didn't make me say "wow!" or anything.

I also went with the JBL N-Center, which seemed more worth the price. This was the first real speaker purchase I have made. When I was 17 (I am now 21) I saved up and purchased an RCA "Home Theatre" system which sounded horrible. But hey what do you expect for a $300 HT system including a receiver and subwoofer? This was my upgrade from that, along with a Yamaha 5440 which I really think is great for
only being $279.

Anyway, after testing these out for awhile and finding out I can get better speaker for less money I decided to take these back for a refund. After doing this I went with a pair of Paradigm Titan's for my main's. I currently have them in the trunk of my car and have not been able to check them out. I can't wait. Someone on here mentioned that this pair and the "Atoms" make the JBL N24's sound like a clock radio! :)

Again, these aren't bad speakers. I'd suggest only using them for REAR speakers though. I'd say for $100 they are
definitely worth it. I guess I was expecting to much for $160 speakers or something. I think JBL stuff is a little
bit overpriced (in retail stores) for what you get, just barely. Anyway, I'd rate these as just slightly above average for it's price range. You can get something twice as good for $25-$50 more.

Strength:

Well rounded small speaker. The wall mounts come with it.

Weakness:

None for the price

I first bought the N-center in the fall. Really liked it.
Bought the n24's as a second front pair to go with the Infinity RS3's. The RS3's on 1ft stands and the N-24's on the wall 7ft high. The two speaker types blend together great. They cover each others weakness. Very nice with both music and movies.
Didn't care that these don't have low bass. Using a Paradigm PS-1000 subwoofer that fills in the bass very well. Don't think they would cut it as the only front front speakers for music but should work well for home theater use.
Have a old pair of Infinity SL-20's as the rear surrounds setting on tables. I like the N24 so much I plan on buying another pair to replace the SL-20's. probably the best use for them. This will clear off the tables.
Found that I can buy them for $106 online. Great speakers for $150 and a incredible deal at $106.

Strength:

very small, easy to place, great highs and astonishing bass!

Weakness:

none. for the size they are perfect

if you have a small room and want to fill it with crisp highs and deep bass these are your speakers. Believe me, I have owned speakers ranging from high end to low and these are the next best thing to true blue studio monitors, that being said, please give this speaker a shot. You will not be sorry. By the way, these are used as front speakers in a dolby digital system in a small bedroom that would not require a subwoffer. So if you need a speaker that would fill a medium to large room these are not the best choice, but on the other hand if you did add a decent sub a to quartet of these you would have sound rivaling the neighborhood theatre:)
