Overall the surround sound and Dolby BBE system provides excellent clarity and punch for all types of music, Display is clear too and radio reception good, only catch is the cd lens needs regular cleaning but is done in 5 mins with a cotton bud.

Strength:

Its sound quality is good ,powerfull and strong as compare to other.its display is also good.

Weakness:

It is unable to play CD's after using the system for half month or longer.

i have purchased my cd player at the start of year 1998 and within a year the CD started skipping and its tape recorder also started to hang. If you people want to buy a CD-Player check out Sony or etc.

Strength:

The system has good sound and clarity, and good speakers(which are made better than the whole system). That''s it.

Weakness:

Terrible Laser, Cheap motor, will not read high-quality cd''s, as well as burnouts,at one point the cd door just pops open on it own many times.

My system overall gave at least a good three years out of it. It didn''t give me trouble until now. It''s a okay system, as far as the surround sound and bass and treble. Other than that it is a pain in the ass. It can be manufactured more extensively for better CD function. I even have the sub-woofer from AWIA and it too gives you some problems if you''re the type of person who doesn''t like to dust. If you don''t, that won''t work either.

Strength:

Speakers sound pretty good

Weakness:

The CD player is absolutely terrible, can't pick up CD's nor play them...real pain in the butt

The whole system worked fine for awhile, but then the CD player started messing up and now it won't even pick up a CD. Never again will I buy an AIWA stereo because there is nothing but trouble associated with it. At least the radio works on it and I thought that the speakers sounded good. But the CD player ruins the whole thing.

Strength:

It sounded great when it worked.

Weakness:

It was made to fall apart.

About 9 months after purchasing my AIWA mini stereo the volume control knob became loose and stopped working. From then on I turned it up or down with the remote control. Then a few months later it started skipping over CDs? An annoyance at first but then it got to the point where it quit playing CDs all together.

I contacted Circuit City and discussed my "out of warranty" repairs required. They told me I would be looking at somewhere between $150 to $180 to fix it. Not a chance. It belongs in a londfill somewhere.

Don't buy AIWA stereo equipment!!!!

Strength:

Great sound from the awesome speakers, good set of features, system also lights up brilliantly. Great screen

Weakness:

CD Player didn't work when I got it (that was the reason I got it cheap) Fixed it straight away with a bit of modification. It now picks up and plays every cd I have, and does it well I might add

Overall for $60, well I'm in UK so I paid £40 for it, this is an awesome stereo system, I fixed the CD problems in about 10mins!!

Strength:

acceptable sound quality

Weakness:

CD player

Good point at the beginning. The sound quality is pretty good. Speakers are OK. The problem is that I can listen only to the radio and tape because CD player simply does not work. The laser was replaced once, but after a year it needs replacement again. I will rather replace the whole system. All in all, don't recommend it at all.

CD Player

I have to agree with the other review for this unit. We have replaced it once, and had it repaired twice, all under warranty. One time the CD laser was adjusted, the other time completely replaced. Now it is doing the same thing, but this time not under warranty (of course). I contacted AIWA and they said, basically, sorry that you are having so many problems, but you're on your own now. I got an approximate estimate of $200.00, which obviously we won't be doing. At this point we will probably junk the unit (what a shame) and buy another one, but not AIWA. Never again....

Strength:

Cheap, loud, doesn't sound horrid.

Weakness:

Cheap, gimmicky, ugly, doesn't sound awesome, CD player broke.

I accidentally posted my review under the NSX-AV8000 previously. From reading the reviews posted here, I'm not sure there is any point in me posting another one.
I'll just echo the other Aiwa owners:
This product is junk.
My CD player broke too.
Don't buy cheap Awia systems. Save up and buy something better.
If you must buy a "mini system," check out the Yamaha MCRE100SL, or SOME of the other upscale systems from JVC, etc. Watch out, although all the manufacturers seem to be producing units that look "high-end", alot of them are still junk.

I will never use a product like this again.
