Strength:

nothing over other manufacturers

Weakness:

cd lens

It has a very non-reliable CD lens mechanism. It holds about a year and then crashes. I fixed it 3 times, but this time I gave up.

Strength:

The sound is awesome. Compact to fit anywhere.

Weakness:

CD player does not last

I Never had a single complaint about this system until today. It has been sitting in my basement in storage for a year now and I decided to finally take it out to get fixed. A couple of years ago, the CD player just stopped working. So I put it away and figured when I have time I will take it to get fixed. Well, today I took it in to an authorized "Aiwa" repair shop to have it checked out. I was shocked to find out all that was wrong with it and that it will cost me $188.00 to fix it. Something with the lazer and a few other things needed to be replaced. I left it with them to fix and went out to check other similar products to see what the current prices were. I could have bought a whole new system for just as much or a little more than what I am paying to have this system fixed. The prices were really decent at Sams and BJs wholesale clubs. I also checked online to see if this model was still being sold when I came across this site. I am so disgusted now that i know I am not the only one who had a problem with the CD player on this system. It''s not like I used it so much that i wore it out because that''s not the case. Has anyone contacted Aiwa about this problem? I did buy an extended warranty but unfortunately the store I purchased it from went out of business and by the time the CD played broke, it was up anyway.

Strength:

Good sound

Weakness:

CD player

I have read this open discussion yesterday, reference the problem with the CD, and I have perform cleaning of the laser head with alcohol and Q-tips, however did not work, as it did not recognize any CD in the trays (as before), but went further and found two (2) adjustment plastic screws, from the back view, case removed, one to the right, beside the laser reader and one located on the top electronic board called << balance adjust (white color)>> and started to turn these 2 screws in small increments and my CD reader finally gave me tracks on the display, I further turned these till the CD turned continuously and actual music played, adjusted the screws with minimal turns clockwise for perfect play. Try this and arm yourself with patience, it took me about 3 hrs to finally get on the desired speed and plays well now.

Strength:

Nice and compact. In three years, I have had no technical problems of any kind.

Weakness:

I haven't had any but then again, I don't use the CD Player much; I use the Casette Deck.

I like it a lot and would buy an Aiwa Product again without hesitation.

Strength:

Sound Quality, Style, Loads Of Bass For The Size Of The Drivers!

Weakness:

My Remote Has Always Been Faulty! Lacks A Bit Of Clarity On Certain Music Distorts Past About Half Way.

I bought this system about 4 years ago and as soon as i got it home and setup it up in my bedroom I played some dance music through it with mega bass thinking to my self this is going to drive the neighbours out! What a sound! the bass was amazing when i got the speakers up on my wall. A couple of weeks after getting the system my remote started to play up and i had to bang it to get it working. Surprisingly i have never had any trouble with the cd player. I Know a lot of people who have had trouble with the laser. I Now Have a kenwood se-a915s which is a bit more powerfull than the nsx-v70 and i have given the old system to a mate who has replaced the speakers with a pair of wharfdale v500's and it sounds great! I thought to my self no your gonna need some quality seperates for speakers like those but i was wrong! His room is a fair bit bigger than mine but you still get the same sort of power and quality! Its a great system but i wouldn't recommend buying a second hand one because of the dodgy lasers!

If they have a design problem or component quality problem, they should recall this thing.

CD Player fails early and often

This product is reviewed by others in the CD player section. But I think the reviews really belong here. Anyway, everyone seems to have the same problem of having their cd player fail to read cds.
