Strength:

Crisp Clean Sound for the price. Easy to use. Visually appealing.

Weakness:

Unreliable CD player. Cassette controls are flimsy and seperate from electronic controls for CD player and Radio

I've had my Aiwa system for quite a few years now. It's was a recommended buy in Consumer Reports back then. It lasted about 2 years before noticed problems with the CD player. It started skipping songs and for ever scanning the CD's. It further led to not being able to skip ahead even one song nevermind a whole bunch. Finally earlier this year it died on me. The radio and Tape decks still run fine and I get plenty of powerful sound out of it. It has enough power to run 4 speakers. ( the original 2 plus to old Sony's that I got {200W each}).
I'm pretty happy with the system but I'm a little dissapointed that the miss design of the CD player led to it's short life span. I might consider buying a new Aiwa in the future only if they smarten up and redesign the player.
That was my 2 bits worth.

Strength:

Decent sound for a bookshelf unit

Weakness:

CD player

CD player has almost never worked - had to exchange the first one we brought home immediately as the CD player did not work, the second one worked for a few months, then needed service, ditto again, and once it was out of warranty, it quit again! Now that I see these postings I realize that it isn't that I got a lemon - this is their product, they know it and continue to sell it - it is fraud.

Strength:

"Whether you’re listening to digital audio via CDs or to traditional analog sources, such as cassettes or the radio, AIWA systems deliver the ultimate in performance and convenience, thanks to the most technologically advanced audio engineering." (Source :www.aiwa.com)

Weakness:

Odds are you're not "listening to digital audio via CDs", because you can't. Not everything on the internet is true--Aiwa's homepage spews forth propagandic trash.

My NSX-V3000 has been nothing but a headache. A year ago the three disc changer stopped working on #2. Recently, all 3 stopped working completely. (for similar problems see... just about every other review on this list). I was willing to live with a stereo that could play 2 CD's, but a stereo that doesn't play any at all can hardly be considered a stereo. Aiwa might just have well attached 8 track players to their "mini-systems", they'd be as useful as the CD players. I will never purchase another Aiwa product again. Even typing the name Aiwa leaves me with an unclean feeling that will not leave, despite repeated attempts to scrub it away in the shower. The name will forever ring in my eardrums as the sound of nails on a chalkboard. The sound will of course be analog, because thanks to my "mini-system" I've forgotten what digital sound sounds like.

Strength:

Great bass.

Weakness:

CD player doesn't work well anymore.

I've had this stereo for over 4 years, and the sound is great BUT (and this is a BIG "but") somewhere along the line, the CD player started giving me problems. For more than half of the CD's I own, all it does is scan the tracks instead of playing them. I thought it wa just me, but after reading the rest of the reviews here, it seems that 99.9% of the other people who own this same model have the same problem I do.

Strength:

Great sound! Easy to use. Quality is good.

Weakness:

No digital display of volume.

I love my stereo! I use it every day. My boyfriend says my stereo sounds better than his roomate's NEW Aiwa stereo. I have had no major problems with it except a blown speaker fuse. The speakers punches out clear crisp music.

Strength:

It has great sound... when playing the radio and cassette.

Weakness:

THE CD PLAYER DOES NOT WORK!!! After reading all the other comments on this page, I'm beginning to think there's a conspiracy. Our CD player quit the same month we let the extended warranty lapse.

AIWA had a great reputation (or so we thought). I wish I knew then what I know now. We won't buy AIWA again.

I bought this mini system after listening to about 10 other mini systems on the shelves of Best Buy. I have not had any problems at all with it since 1997, but I would not say that I have used it very extensively either. The past two years I have been in college, and it has just been sitting around. The sound is full from the speakers. However, I hope to upgrade soon when I get the money to a component system with more than 40W speakers. Overall this has been perfectly suited to my needs.

Strength:

great sound!

Weakness:

hope you don't like CD's

I got this as a Christmas gift a while back and loved it. The sound is amazing for a shelf unit and I have hooked it up to my TV and Computer and get great sound! Radio and tabe are great. However it will pick the CD's it wants to play at random!! After talking to a bunch of repair stores, it seems that the many vents lead to a dirty laser pick up. It works great after you get it clean. And I have put it in a non-dusty place since, and it has been fine!...but be prepared to clean it!
