Strength:

It looks nice. Other than that nothing.

Weakness:

The main weakness is that it doesn''t work.

I bought my Sony DVP S570D at circut city. For the first 8 months it was great. Then the C:13 came into my life. Now it is completely dead. One month after the warranty expired. Is there anything I can do besides paying $180.00 to have it fixed?

Strength:

has anyone mentioned it makes a nice shiny door stop?

Weakness:

Cost me $7 an hour to operate

I''m so sad...and I will never by Sony again. I use to have such a nice S570D, but then it commited C13 suicide Friday night even though it has never shown signs of problems in the past. I went to view the special features on a dual layer disc and the 570 freaked, then gave me a C13 error. I''ve thrown in both dual and single layer DVD''s since then, and even tried audio CDs but it can''t see anything. The sad part is that this 570 is a year and a half old, but only has 52 hours of use on it (thats right, I went into diagnostic mode and tried the auto adjustment, but was denied by some sort of spin error). Sony''s offer of sending it to their repair shop for $176 just doesn''t seem like a fair solution.

"SONY RECALL PETITION" I am writing this message about my dvp-s360 and its vast problems, this applies to the sony dvp-s560 as well...as i have read we are all in the same boat which is why i have organized a group to do something about it, i want everyone to send me an email about their problem and contact info, just an email address or your name, redundancy is very effective, so if you think others have already written you still should definitely write...HERE IS THE EMAIL ADDRESS SONYRECALL@hotmail.com ...this address has been made to compile all the statements of each and everyone of you...enclose a contact address, or i will use the email address you send to me...i will compile all the emails about your problems with the dvp-s360/dvp-s560 and i am going to make a case out of this...all of these emails will be directly sent via registered mail to sony''''s front office and we are definitely going to see results, i''''ll see to it...let''''s get these emails sent quickly so we can get this problem fixed asap...we can do it...send your name too and/or anything else you think will make OUR case stronger...thanks...somehow, everyone''''s sony dvd players are resulting in c 13:00 and NO disc errors at around the same time...this is not by chance. Something must be done, let''''s get together and make this work. Thanks.

I just wanted to post my experience as yet one more very unhappy owner of a Sony DVD player. Yes, the unit looks nice, and it worked great - for about fourteen months, then it started displaying nothing but the dreaded NO-DISC error. I tried doing the calibration procedure described earlier, but the unit is so messed up that it cannot even begin. I''m going to look for the MDP0068 & 69 repair notices that Sony has published on their DVD players, and then I''m going to call Sony and see if they will at least grant a discount for the repair, or better yet do it for free. Otherwise, I''ll be buying another (non-Sony) player, and will be anxiously awaiting a class-action lawsuit that I can join against them.

This is the worst product sony has ever produced. After a year you''ll get a No Disk error and a repair shop will want between 100 and 200 dollars.

Strength:

Stylish looks, worked great for a while

Weakness:

doesn''t work very well anymore.

I am having the same problem as the rest of you guys and can say it is a relief that I am not the only one, because it sucks to be alone. I have been getting the C13:00 error on about half of the discs I try and I think I will attempt to remedy it using that method posted earlier. I''m not worried about messing it up as the player is in poor shape as it is. Also it has been to a service shop once to no avail. Apparently the service guy hadn''t heard of this problem.

I have read all of the reviews before I bought it, especially the negative ones, and inspite of all the problems they describe, I still ordered it, cause it would really look great on my system because its silver. I have it for over a month now and I would say that this is machine is great, good picture, sound and it quiet.
overall, I give it a five star.

Strength:

Lots of menu options. Good picture and sound. Attractive player

Weakness:

noisy when running.

I decided to replace my Panasonic A110 when I tried to play interview w/ a vampire in DTS. I have the Yamaha DSPA1 and have never had problems with the audio not working. Well my friend has the Sony 7700 and when it worked on his I was pissed. When I went to see what players were available I was a tad disapointed with my selection. When I saw the Sony I thought it looked great. I also liked the 7700, but the price difference was too extreme. I brought 5 of my DVD's to the store and used this as my deciding factor since I could not find any reviews. It played a bit loud compaired to other players I have used, friends & family, but other than that there were no problems. I also wanted to make sure there was no delay in audio, which there wasn't. I have a friend at this establishment and got my player for $320. I would recomend it to a friend.

Strength:

Build quality. Remote control with jog wheel. Built-in 5.1 decoders. Plays troublesome DVDs without a problem.

Weakness:

On-screen display a little cryptic at times. Only available in Wega color (brushed aluminum).

I searched long and hard for a good mid-range DVD player that featured a decent remote, could play seamless branching DVDs and had a 5.1 decoder with digital outs.

This player handles seamless branching without a hitch. I've played the Abyss, The Matrix and other troublesome titles without any problems.

I highly recommend this player.
