Update:
Just got mine from Authorized Sony Repaire Shop. It took 2 weeks for them to "repaire". Worked well for one day. After that, C13 error appeared again, but no "No Disk" error yet.

Strength:

Good sony name, nice remote

Weakness:

Sucker died on me. out of nowhere. period.

Loved the 560d at first... but it died on me about 6 months after purchase. Out of nowhere, i got that C:13:00 error message, which is basically the kiss of death for it. However, i was lucky to be able to go back to sears and get a new dvd player. fortunately, i was able to put a credit toward a Panasonic rp56 progressive scan. And, because they price match, it only cost me $10 to step to progressive-scan and mp3 playback. Thanks sears.

C:13:00 kiss of death!

Well, sucks to post this, but mine has bit the dust with the C:13:00 error that every other person posting here has. In fact, that's how I found this site, I did a search for DVP-S560D C:13:00 in google and this was the only hit. I was surprised and angered to see so many have this problem. I am a brand loyalist--the type marketing people dream about. I bought this player because of features, and Sony's reputation, but now that is severely tarnished. Especially since a local repair shop quoted me $175 to fix! :o

Strength:

Nice menu

Weakness:

It doesn't work!!!!

The first 3 months everything was great. Then new cd's started to skip, freeze and then I would have to shut it down and reinsert the disk just to get the player to recognize it. Then the c13 error. I put a fan on it hoping that it was a heat problem. It seemed to work for about 20 min. Then same ol same ol.

Strength:

Good Picture, Easy to use before death (about 1 year or more of not frequent usage)

Weakness:

C13 and No Disk and no other responses for any DVD or CD

I am not going to add one more angry massage about this DVD player because I think that it is already known that this product is defective (and I suspect that stores discontinued to sell it because I can not find any DVP-S560D around). I brought mine to authorized sony repaire shop but after reading all these reviews doubt that I did correct thing, probably it would be just waste of money.

I do not think that SONY is going to reimbers to people in any way money they have spent on this DVD.

Could some one suggest another good/reliable DVD player in the same price range and in the same class?

Thanks

Strength:

The on/off button works flawlessly!

Weakness:

If you take it apart you may well find a note inside that reads:
"Dear Sucker, We here at Sony would like to thank you for purchasing what may well be the biggest piece of crap on earth!"

Same story as everyone else! Worked for 12 months, but skipped frequently (I was too dumb to realize it was a Sony problem). As scheduled the thirteenth month rolled around and I received c 13:00 and no disk. After reading 3 dozen of these reviews, I think I not bother trying to have it fixed! Maybe I will call Sony though! I did not get $200 dollars worth of enjoyment out of this player, however on the brightside I did get about $150 worth of enjoyment from reading everyone elses postings!

Good features - while it works!

Weakness:

C:13 error, DVD's get stuck all the time

This DVD player is a piece of junk - there is some major design flaw in it. Works OK for a year - but after that it WILL give the dreaded 'No disc' problem and die - that looks like a guaranteed fact. Mine worked OK for a year (intermittent C:13 error problems, dvd getting stuck while playing, etc - but nothing major). Last week while watching a movie - it gave the C:13 error and died. Now it just doesn't recognize any disc at all. Warranty expired a few months ago. I'm never buying a Sony DVD player again.

Strength:

Great while it worked

Weakness:

C13:00

Add me to the list of sufferers of the C13 plague.

Unit worked great until about a month ago. Then it wouldn't get past the same spot on a rented DVD. Tried a couple others, some worked and some had the same problem. Finally had a picture freeze, then the dreaded C13 error, now it won't recognize any DVD I've put in it.

Luckily(?) it's still in warranty, but I don't hold out much hope given what I just finished reading here. This is just ridiculous...

Strength:

Looks nice, Great Picture/Sound

Weakness:

Unreliable as others have stated in their reviews. No zoom like friends cheap toshiba that came free with his T.V....

Was on a budget when buying a DVD player, didn't want the cheapest one out there but didn't want the most expensive. At the time I thought it would be a nice unit for the money... NOT! For the first few months I was pleased, but now about every other movie I play I get some red static dots across the screen and then the red goes out all together. At first I thought it was my T.V. but the last few times it did it for about 10 minutes of the movie before regaining the red color (faces looked green). During the period of time in the movie where I lost red after the red static on the screen I switch to my VCR and Regular T.V. and red was not a problem on either of those 2 sources, back to the DVD and no red. #$#%^ Talked to a repair shop about getting it repaired... $85 in labor, parts probably covered under warranty... I suppose I can send it in, and waste more money in shipping... but after reading what others have stated about this unit I am totally bummed, considering just giving it up and buying another DVD player... Something better, and well researched via audioreview and other sources. May look at the Marantz to match my Marantz SR5200 receiver. Fortunatly I haven't seen this model on the shelves any longer so hopefully the same misfortune won't happen to anyone else...

Needless to say I am totally dissapointed... This Sux. : (
If you read this DON'T BUY a one of these. In fact to be honest, I will probably never buy another piece of Sony audio equipment, maybee their T.V.'s but thats about it.
