Strength:
Very nice remote, flawless DVD playback, nice size, nice selection of outputs.
Weakness:
Somewhat confusing menu system, defaults to chapter time not total time. This is a great player. The thing is small and compact but it works flawlessly. Compared to the two other players i've tried this Sony is excellent. My only problems are minor. First, i dislike how to find out the sound format you have to go into the menu. The toshiba i had told you what format the sound was in simply by pressing the audio button. Also, i dislike how it defaults to Chapter time rather than total time. Other than this this player is excellent. I think my search for an excellent DVD player has finally ended. Similar Products Used: Sharp DV-600u, Toshiba SD1200 |

Strength:
Biggest strength is price! Anyone who wants to get into DVD for cheap needs this model. Video hookups are plentifull.
Weakness:
Many people who wrote reviews on the 360 complained about the noise from the player. I can see where they are coming from, but how far away are the people sitting from the DVD player itself? I sit at least 8 feet from the player and don't hear any noise from the player and it isn't even in a component cabinet. The very small weakness that I found is the tray open and close button is a little tight. When you press it, the DVD player actually slides back a bit because it is so small. Oh well, this is nothing to gripe about. My first purchase about 5 months ago was a 32" Sony VVEGA television set. I couldn't wait to hook a DVD player to it. When I bought my Sony DVDP-S360 a month ago, I was so impressed, that I've rented a movie every night since I've had it. If you have a TV with the 16:9 enhanced mode, you MUST have a DVD player. Make sure that if you are in the market for a new television, that you purchase one with component video hookups also. This is the clearest picture that I've seen! Excellent contrast and color. Motion pictures are made to be viewed in widescreen. I am so impressed with the 16:9 enhanced mode, that I can't watch a movie anymore without seeing it in enhanced widescreen. Similar Products Used: I've viewed a few movies on a friends Pioneer player. He paid more than I did and I think I have a better player. The only thing that he did have over me is the 5-disk tray. |

Strength:
Solid, pretty, great remote, plenty of output formats, great performer.
Weakness:
No zoom, can't force 3:4 ratio on a widescreen movie despite what the user manual says, no optical cable, does not play MP3s. It is with tears that I am returning this unit. Another great SONY product. Unfortunately, It does not do zoom. And watching these tiny widescreen movies on my TV is very frustrating. I am exchanging for a Toshiba 2200. Strength:
Lots of features
Weakness:
Noisy, terrible customer support, only lasted 9 months It has lots of features but I found the drive to be a little noisey. The onscreen setup was easy to use, but there was no explaination of the different settings so trying to get the settings right was tough for this novice. This made trouble shooting the trouble that arose difficult. I couldn't tell whether the problem was a setting conflict or an equipment failure. Turns out, it was an equipment failure. Hey $250 bucks for 7 months of use isn't so bad, is it? But then again I could have it fixed right? Wrong! Similar Products Used: No other DVDs. JVC stereo components |

Strength:
Easy to use menus, remote with universal volume control! Excellent sound/video quality for the price. Lots of output combinations.
Weakness:
Layer switching - but common to all dvd players. Though not utilizing 5.1 (yet), I could tell a huge difference in audio quality - even just in Pro Logic!! I've demo'd it in 5.1 and know it will be awsome as well. I'm using the s-video output and picture is very sharp and absolutely no jumping or distortion. You can only use the universal volume option for one component at a time, however the code for changing between my TV and receiver is very simple - for those times I just want to watch with the TV's stereo sound. cost, quality, outputs
Weakness:
little noisy now dont get me wrong, for the cost of this unit i am more than thrilled. its single weakness i have encountered so far is some noise during playback. but from about 10 feet back it is not audible unless i mute all sound. if this really bugs you the solution is simple. buy a stand for ur tv, or a cabinet or something with glass doors, and put the player behind the glass doors. they block the noise entirely. aside from that, menus are easy to use, the outputs are compatible with any system i have ever seen, and the picture is fantastic especially when played on a quality tv like my sony trinitron (even better on my friends wega). i will shortly be upgrading my entire system, except for this component, it will fit in quite nicely among a slew of much more costly components. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone except true movie fanatics who are bothered by anything but the best. Similar Products Used: first dvd |

Dirt Cheap!!!! Component Video Out Remote same as TV Dirt Cheap!!!!
Weakness:
It doesn't have progressive line scan, but for the price it shouldn't. If you want an excellent price/performance deal Get this player. I haven't heard a single bit of noise from mine. My guess is this is basically the same as the 560 but w/o the decoder built in. Similar Products Used: PS2 (as a DVD player) JVC TH-A10 |

Great looking, easy to setup (1 problem though) DD & DTS outputs
Weakness:
Can't seem to get DTS to work After reading what several of you folks wrote here, I searchws around on the internet and found a $200 price. I marched on down to Sears and wa-la. Instant gratification. The sales guys tried to hassle me, but it didn't matter. Similar Products Used: Yamaha |

Strength:
None
Weakness:
Incredibly noisy. The unit will no longer recognize DVD's or CD's and has only been used lightly for 1 year. Don't waste your money. My 3 year old boy calls it a "piece of junk". And he is absolutely right! It doesn't even rate one star. |
