None yet.............

Looking at the reviews posted here, I'm hard pressed to find
any bad players sold in Canada.I'm coming up on 11 months of
use and none of the reported problems are present!!But knowing the sony rep I'm sure it will fail just after the 1
year warranty is up.Anyone in Canada with this problem give me an e-mail so we can try and keep track off the garbage players. And do somthing about it!!!!

To all the guys with the problem......keep fighting,I'm sure to be in it soon!!!

.........Three stars for now- will see after the warranty is up.

The same infamous C13:00- No Disc message. It happened about 6 months after purchase. First, it only shows C13:00 with "T2 - the ultimate edition", for several times. I thought it was an individual case, since inside the disc case, there was note saying "some players may have problems navigating this disc due to new technologies used." But soon, the same problem appeared to more and more discs and at about 3 to 4 weeks ago, the "No Disc" message appeared and the player completely died.

Undoubtedly, this is a design and/or manufacturing flaw, based on so many similar reviews I see here. I wonder if there's a legal proceeding with this regard going on. Sony needs to be taught a lesson! It owes all of us too much for our passion for its once high quality products. I bought almost $10,000 worth of Sony products during the past 2 years!

More interestingly, Crutchfield.com, where I bought this product, removed this model from their web site very shortly after I purchased it (last August). Since Crutchfield is a big retailer for Sony products, it must be either it got inside information from Sony about the flaw or had received too many complaints about this model. I'm sure Sony is also aware of it. Yet, the model is still available in the market today. -- My point is, no one should be able to get away with knowingly selling flawed products. No exception for Sony!

Strength:

Cheap, Worked Well for a time

Weakness:

Stopped working at 8 months, Sony service

Well, like so many others on this site my love affair with Sony ended when my player stopped working with the dreaded C:13 error and refused to recognize any type of disk. Irony of ironies, my player did not break over time but just quit half way through “Unbreakable”. I checked the disk to see if it was indeed dirty (not a spot on it) and reinserted the disk to find that the player is now convinced that there is “no disk”. It won’t even read regular CDs either.

Since there have been literally thousands of these players with the same problem (given the sampling represented here), I am hoping that there is a service package for them like a parts kit or something. I’ll let you know what I find.

90-day warranty. Player is DOA after 4-months of average use (8-10 hrs per week). Sony support acts like they've never heard of this issue.

My horror story: In mid-April, I picked up the DVP-360 up as a replacement for my near-3yr old Sony S-550D player, which was still working great, but lacked DTS support. The 360 was performing fine until this past weekend. On Friday evening, I received the now infamous "C13:00" error while watching a flawless (no scratches/smudges/etc) disc that I owned. I powered the player down/up, and was able to finish watching the rest of the disk without any problems. The following evening, while watching a brand-new copy of "Snatch" (a Sony/Columbia title at that), I paused the movie to grab a soda. Upon pressing pause the second time, I discovered that the player had completely locked up. When I tried to power down/up the system again, the player didn't even make it to the Sony rainbow graphic before shutting itself off. Unplugging the unit for several hours also did nothing. Now, all attempts to power the box up are met with the "Sony DVD" LED text on the player's front (for 1 second)... then immediately into standby mode. Furthermore, the "eject" button does not work, so now I have to take the thing apart to get my disc back. Thanks to Sony's wonderful 90-day warranty, I cannot get this thing fixed without spending at least $100 (from what I've read here). My next DVD player will not be a Sony, and I will definitely think twice before purchasing any other Sony product in the future.

Bad player and even worse customer service. The thing lasted less than one year. Sony wanted to fix it instead of replacement and wanted to charge me $115 - and this was a so called warranty repair! You would think that someone at Sony would think "hey that's not right the thing should last more than a year" and simply authorize a replacement. Sony has lost a customer.

Strength:

Affordable, supports DTS, Sony remote.

Weakness:

none so far.

I bought this along with a Sony 32 inch TV. I figured I'd get two Sony's and use a single remote. Good idea, 'cause when you change the batteries in the remote, it doesn't need to be reset. There are fewer functions that way, though. It's also handy to be able to press a single "system off" at the end of the viewing session.

In a year I haven't had any trouble (so far). Occassionally a misread, but a wipe of the DVD has taken care of it so far. Seems light years ahead of the Samsung, Toshiba, and cheapo brands I've seen reviewed here.

I never noticed it being loud, but perhaps sitting below the TV it's just masked effectively.

Small ideosyncracy is that the TV remote just does a standard fastforward (probably for compatibility with VCRs) while the front panel works by chapters. Actually that's handy if you don't mind getting up off your butt -- or you're willing to use the DVD remote.

All in all, a decent entry to DVD. Though the DVPNS300 seems like a real improvement judging from the reviews... But then, those have been based on less operating time.

Styling; controller is nice

Weakness:

will not play DVD's

AGAIN! Yes, my DVD player will not play DVD's. It is getting the no disc message. At first, the player would just skip chapters or get hung up in the middle of a movie. I was just on hold with Sony Service for 30 minutes!! They said it is a dirty laser pic. They then quoted me a parts only warranty flat rate price to clean the lens for $128. After the warranty (in one month), the flat rate fee is $176. Man, I could buy some other cool things than to pay that much to get my DVD player cleaned. I called a local service rep. They quoted $65-$70 to clean the laser pic. Sony's products better not have the same problem. I have a lot of money invested in them. I am now and unloyal customer. Way to go Sony.

I miss my DVD player.

None, now that it functions as a door stop.

Avoid this bomb! Worked passably well for ten months with just occasional skipping. Went nuts during The Green Mile...a most frustrating ordeal to try to make it through a long movie that keeps skipping chapters ahead or behind. Now it just will not recognize any disc. How the mighty have fallen...did not Sony used to be synonymous with quality? No more for me!

Strength:

Good picture/audio

Weakness:

durability

After using it lightly for less than a year it started hanging up in the middle of movies and sometimes doesn't even recognize the DVD and gives the No Disc error. And this isnt just with old scratched up DVD's, I'm talking about ones i just unwrapped. From the reviews it sounds like it would cost more to repair than to buy a new, less expensive, more reliable model.
