I feel sorry for all the people that have had bad luck with the DVD-A110. I bought mine about 3 years ago and have had no problems with it at all and still use it on a regular basis. However, 2 years after I had mine, my brother went out and bought the same exact unit and within 6 months of ownership, it too died. Just like explained in other reviews here, "no disc" and I think his went to the extent of not even turning on after a short period after that.

Oh well, I guess Panisonic put out a few good ones. As long as mine is still working, that's all that matters to me.

Reviews were great..no one mentioned the break problems that happen after a year of so !

Mine crapped out at 1 yr 2 weeks old !
I get the NO DISC error. The motor doesn't spin at all. I would imagine the laser can't move on the rails, so the motor never starts up.
I'm going to try the vasoline trick tonight when I get home.
Has anyone heard of any recourse or lawsuits ???
I would love to let electronics manuf. know that they really shouldn't screw us consumers !
If I were a lawyer, I would take the case myself....

Life span

Yes, another 110 bites the dust, but it served me well. I purchased the Best Buy warranty for $49. Guess what they just gave me store credit to get a new player. WAY COOL!!!
I'm not sure which one I'll get but it will be better than the 110. I was told that the average life span of a dvd player sold when I purchased the 110 was estimated at two years. When I purchased the extended warranty my friend said I was being taken, then the sales person said, " if the unit fails after the manufacturer warranty will you, (meaning my friend), pay to repair or replace it"? Of course he said no... I'm glad the sales person was recommended it to me or else I would sour like alot of other 110 owners. 5 for performance 2 for reliability and 5 for Best Buy for takeing care of me.

Great picture, price for DTS untit.

Locked up after 15 months.

Thought it was a great deal at $270, until I got the lockup problem. Count me in on that class action suit!

Good picture quality, good price at time of purchase

Cheap remote

Had this player for over a year and all was fine until a couple of weeks ago when the player paused on one of my discs, and it wasn't the layer change. Couldn't get it to reproduce the pause so I am not sure if my player is going bad or not. Other than that, this player has performed quite well for me in the past year.

I am pleased with my decision to purchase the DVDA110. Picture is superbalthough the remote takes a little getting used to.
In addition, my speakers do not seem to handle the virtual surround sound
ability of the player that well. To be fair, I don't know if
that is a problem with my speakers or the player itself.
