Strength:

Excellent phone, great details, great HI and MED bands, excellent LOWS. Very light and durable, the earpads can move on 2-axis, thus virtually fits anyone's head. Looks great! Still portable, not as weird looking when u go walking with these cans compared to bigger offerings from Senn, AKG, and Beyer.

Weakness:

Sennheiser HD5xx series looks kinda fragile, buts its actually strong. Its not as comfortable as sum headphone to wear (HD650, DT880). The leather soft pad at the head-band looks lousy and seems that it would flake over time.

However, its not ultimate as the bass is too rounded (less detail), the mids are abit recessed compared to the other band.

Bought of a friend who upgraded to RS-1 for cheap. Prior to HD595, had a HD555 and those who said HD595 is only a bit better if not comparable is really not having a good system to pair with. HD595 has more clarity, details are lush, bass are stronger, more accurate and deeper than HD555. Still not the best as sum bands are recessed.

Audio setup is E-MU 1212m (CS4398) > PPA Diy AMP (OPA637BP) > HD595 with L4-E6S+F10 interconnects on Lossless Audio.

Strength:

Beautifully balanced. Fine soundstage. Good depth.

Weakness:

Maybe not quite as comfortable as earlier Senns like 580/600. Slightly microphonic. Creaks occasionally when you move your head.

Great phones. Not outstanding in any particular area but beautifully balanced and emminently satisfying in the long run. The kind of product that lets yiou forget about whether you made the right choice and whether something else might've been better; you just know that even if some other phone was better in some particular area, few would have the overall balance of strengths of the 595. A definite keeper and a credit to the music lovers at Sennheiser.

Strength:

overall sonic quality - the 'optimum' headphone: strong solid bass, sweet full midrange, detailed but not piercing treble and ... did I mention it's very comfortable ?

Weakness:

104 db sensitive, too loud ! good phones straight from battery powered discman.

I've been using vintage phones all these years and never thought much of the rave reviews of newer models. How different can they be, how can they be any better than a vandy or logan ! But when I listen to 580 it blows me away and now my speakers have been collecting dust. Well .. not really, since I put plastic cover over them. Further down the road I feel an increasing urge for a headphone that sounds somewhat in between Senn HD 580's laid back quallity and AKG 271's close but wonderous mid / vocals ... and found this underrated gem ! For unclear reason many people esp sennheiser fans hate or rate this phones very low with regard to 580/600/650 - the same with older 590. However, having heard 580 overall 'strength' and seduced by 271's sweetness (I almost always fall asleep when listening to 271 =), this 595 does really strike gold to my ears. All the Senn details are there and vocals are more full and upfront. The only quirk for me is just it is too loud ! Also, although the bass is much more reasonable than hd 265 and 25sp, sometimes I wish it is slightly lower in overall balance. All the sennheiser great comfort are still here, although older 580/600 style headband gives more grip and don't fell easily off your head while listening on the floor. I tried 590 once but the cheaper plastic looking cups scared me off so I didn't really focus on the sonic quality. Some people say that these 2 are almost identical in 580/600 sort of way. I didn't dare to try 650 or other 'better' phones (stax ?) due to the potential damage to wallet. While the debate between grados vs senns are getting more like tubes vs ss, I believe Senns give more speaker-like sound. However I'm not sure 650 could be 2x better and for the price imnsho 595 could be the best money ever spent in audio gear !

Strength:

Warm, good bass, detailed, comfortable

Weakness:

leaks sound

Wow! This headphone is awsome. It totally breathes life into my music and i lisen to all types of music (electronic, hip-hop, classical, jazz, rock.). The only way to describe the sound of this this headphone is warm but very detailed. The HD590's are cold and detailed. I can hear things in songs that i never heard before. not only doese it sound good but it feels good. They are so comfortable. There is not a lot of pressure on your head but they have a snug fit. The pads are very soft and not irritating. The only negative thing i can say about it is that sound leaks through these headphones. It might bother others and outside noise might bother you.
