Strength:
Fun subwoofer bass sound
Weakness:
Style Strange that the others find this headphone to be bad. I think it was an excellent upgrade over my walkman's freebie headphones. The bass may not have been realistic, but it was quite strong with a subwoofer feel to it. That's the fun part about these cans! The sound is also unfatiguing. Only complaint is it looks rather cheapish... which it is anyway. Similar Products Used: HD320 |

Strength:
Very good bass
Weakness:
Distort prematurely when driven This is my first pair of Sennheisers and I must say that for the money I paid I'm very impressed. These are very comfortable and the sound quality is far and above better than what I've used so far. Similar Products Used: Sony MDR-G56 (cheapos), Panasonic Shockwaves |

Strength:
very comfortable
Weakness:
very bad bass and sound These headphones are very well built but they sound cheap! I also had a problem with the product's design because it is meant for people with big heads not small heads. If you have a small head then you would look like an alien wearing them. I compared the Sennheiser 470 against my old Koss Porta Pro and the Koss still ranks the best. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Comfortable, lightweight
Weakness:
Very poor sound I purchased these for occasional hi-fi and PC use. The headphones appear to be well-designed and are comfortable in use. Unfortunately the sound quality is well below par, with boomy bass and a woolly, grainy midrange. I've certainly heard better from 'phones supplied with cheap personal stereos. Unless you are very keen to buy the Sennheiser brand name, avoid these. |

Weakness:
Mediocre sound quality, may not properly fit some people; looks To sum up the performance of the HD470's: Similar Products Used: I currently own three Sonys (MDR-V300, MDR-V600, MDR-V900). I also deomed three other Sennheisers (HD490, HD565 and HD570) and one Sony (MDR-V700DJ) at Tweeter (aka United Audio Centers). |

Strength:
good for portaibility, clear with crisp highs
Weakness:
open-air design makes for less-than-perfect bass, flimsy cord. Because these headphones are designed as open air (no ear cups) they don't get bass as accurately as their bigger brother the HD-570. But as someone mentioned in the review for those, many of the opinions voiced are based on personal preference. I stood at the Good Guys! for over an hour comparing the same sections of a CD's tracks on the different headphones. I thought that as reproduction of sound went, and convenience (I need them to be at least semi-portable for my many flights) they were the second best. The best were the HD-570s, but those actually sounded screechy because they did highs so well. Then these, which were above the other Sennheisers, Kenwoods, Denons, and Sonys (some as high as 300 dollars in price) were a suprisingly good price to top it off. For USD $60 they aren't bad at all. In fact, they're great! Similar Products Used: Koss TD-65 |
