Strength:

Light, confortable

Weakness:

Sound

I use the HD470 at work only.

Let me tell you that they sound pretty bad. The mids are too much grainy, the bass is innacurate and can't go low at all. I'm very disapointed about these headphone. For the price, you can do a lot better.

But for my work they are perfect. They are very light and fit well on my head. They are confortable but they look weird and a lot of people find them ugly.

For the same price tag, the Denon AHD-210 are so much better. If you are looking for sound quality check out the Grado if you have the budget. I own the Grado SR80 and it's night and day.

I cannot believe that some people think they sound great. They sound fair at best for the price. Of course, they are great budget headphones for computer gamers and to use with cd players, but not for serious listeners.

Strength:

Fairly comfortable

Weakness:

Poor sound

I was quite surprised at how bad these headphones sounded. I purchased them as replacements for the Sony fold-up in-the-ear phones that came with my portable Minidisc player. However, I found the Sennheisers to be far worse than I had expected. Sound quality is about the same as AM radio. Very washed-out highs and lows, and weak midrange.

Strength:

Cheap! Reasonably good sound quality.

Weakness:

Not too good a fit unless you've got a head the size of a football.

Cheap! Good treble and reasonable bass. I tried the whole range of Sennheisers and for the low price these were the best. If I had more money I would have bought a pair of closed headphones, but these are fine. I would say you have to break them in - I plugged them in straight away and they sounded awful. After about 12 hours playing (I just left CD on random) they sounded much less grainy + will do. Bass is a little undefined in parts but what do you want for $50? There is no way any 'in-ear' headphones will sound as good as these.

Fine for keeping quiet listening in my living room.

My verdict is based on similar products at similar prices - these are great vs the competition, but if you want great sound, save your pennies and get something a bit more pricey.

Strength:

Comfort, bass

Weakness:

Noisy for colleagues

The first thing to notice: verrrrrrry comfortable. Nu fuss with adjusting the headbelt.

Secondly: I listen a lot to electronic dance music and jazz. Amplification happens via a WinAmp and an IBM 600E. For me bass and detail are very important, and I can say that this set fullfills both these wishes very well..

Thirdly: It looks a bit weird at the office. ´like that...

It´s only weakness is that my colleagues can hear the music pretty well to.... but with all the computers, distance and other headphones between us...who cares.

Because of last I don´t advice this product for people who want to use it to keep the noise down at home. It might disturb card players just behind you.

These headphones definitely sound better than the stock headphones that came with my inexpensive portable Panasonic CD-player, but I'm taking it back anyway. Inadequate bass (even through my Yamaha) and mediocre highs. I think a large part of the problem is the style of headphones they are: foam covered exterior set. Too much sound escapes since they're not sealed and they aren't physically in your ear like a lot of less expensive headphones are. I only give it 3 stars because they weren't very expensive.

Strength:

Excellent sound reproduction, 20Hz-20KHz frequency response, great fit

Weakness:

none significant

Neither of the other brands could hang with the Sennheisers. The others could not reproduce the lows or highs with any accuracy. I do not see how anyone could possibly think that these other brands could come close. The sound is a little bright, but for the price, unbeatable. There were other Sennheisers that were better, but even $200 Sonys did not have equal quality.

I would definitely recommend these for someone who will be stuck away from their home theater and needs an inexpensive, portable substitute.

Strength:

It has the Sennheiser name after all and cheap too.
Also comparable to most products of this range.

Weakness:

Design
built

Basically this headphone is generaly comparable to most headphone in its class. Therefore one should noly consider comparing them with headphone of the same range instead of
for example (hd470 vs hd565 or V900).

Comparing should also be done taking into considering the price range paid for the product as well as the targeted comsumer group. I feel it is silly to compare such products with extreamly high or low models.

Now for sound comparison; the headphone fairs actually well in the treble range however I must say that for detail and high treble accuracy the sony V series actually does better. (especially if looking at the v-600 series) This however is not the case for the Street style headphones as they seems to have more unclear combination of levels of treble capacity.

As for the bass this is where the senn's falls into a group of their own. As reputations shows the senn's have always been able to have better bass control which is very apparent with this unit. However I must say that at sometimes it does sound over powering. (not to good for senn)

As for built quality the actual headphones does feel robus and I like the idea of senn changing from the 2 side connectors to a single fixed one which has always provent to be a problem for all the previous models particularly the HD565 which gives it a very baddd reputation.

However I believe this is where senn has gone astray with the design. It does not look very appealing at all and trying to look to modern which I must say senn has fail at. The street style sonys looks better.

As a whole the headphone is not too bad for its class.
Of course if comparing with better ones like to the ovation
definately it is not too good. But then again the ovation is also targeted for cheap and poor listeners like Randall leung two below me who thinks the ovation is good.

Personally I feel all the headphones noted on this used products sections are crap if you have a HD600 like me which I know he cannot afford looking at his collection.

So one cannot compare this product baisly
