I just added a new Yamaha CDC-775 cd player to my stereo system which includes a Yamaha RX-V795 AV Receiver and Klipsch KSF 10.5 speakers. I have had the receiver and speakers for a few months but the cd player is new. The new player replaced an old Sony CDP-30 cd player that is at least 13 years old. I have to say the addition of the cd player, which is connected to the receiver via an optical line, a truely great system. I cannot believe its taken me this long to finally find an outstanding system. There are other players out there that could bet this one, but I wager that you would have to spend alot more money to possibly find one better.
I purchased the cd player as well as receiver from Uncles Stereo. I couldn't find anyone who could bet their prices.

I realize the cd player is new, but I have had Yamaha equipment for the last 25 years and have never experienced any problems.

I give this cd player 5 STARS!!

This is a great reciver with Yamaha's Pro-Bit chip. I just got it a couple of days ago, so I haven't begun to use all the features yet, but it sounds great. Got it for a good price at audioexcellence.com. Only complaint is rinky dink remote.

I have been very impressed with this piece ever since I took it out of the box. It is well-built and has a solid feel. The remote is well laid out and the tray for the cds is sturdy. I only have one complaint about the unit- there should be toslink and coax outs on a changer like this. It's not a 150 dollar item, so it should have a few more of the candy features.
The sound quality is excellent. My current system isn't much to speak of (that is, until tomorrow!) but it has really brought some of the sparkle back to the sound. The highs are clear but not strident, and the bass response is present- not obtrusive. Bass presence sometimes is a little boomy in mid price cd players, but it is just right in this one.

I like it, and I'd buy it again.

Just received my Yamaha CDC 775 from the Armed Forces Exchange catalog. I only paid $249.00 for it (shipped). Thats seems pretty cheap when I have not seen it in any stores for less than $329.00. Mayby they made a mistake.
Anyways it sounds just wonderful hooked up to my Mirage OM10 speakers. Wow what a difference in sound quality. This is my first CD player, I have listened to cassettes for years and there is no comparison. It is a solid built machine, I haven't figured out the remote yet but it seems functional. It is top of the line.

Yamaha CDC 775. Bought this product a week ago. I love its natural sound, guitars sound like guitars and drums like drums. On top of it all I think
it has goods looks. Overall I am very Happy with the machine.

Strength:

sound quality

Weakness:

remote lacks power key

To do justice to a RX-V2095 A/V receiver, a new CD player with digital out was needed. As it was, the A-120 DVD
player in my HT setup outplayed the Yamaha CDC-555. BTW,
the mains, NHT 3.3's, are driven with a Carver A-760X outboard amp. Centre and surrounds are NHT VS-2's, special effects are Kenwood. Partially based on earlier reviews,I acquired the CDC-775. I have played the new setup for
about a week, normally too short for a review. However,
the combination of the CD player and A/V receiver, using
the digital route, is an obvious winner. I didn't expect
the degree of improvement in sound staging, transparency
and distortion free reproduction. The overall sound is essentially neutral. One hopes for this magic moment when
it all comes together just right, when all the effort and
cost is rewarded. It happened to me. Good show, Yamaha.

Strength:

see review November '99

Weakness:

do

Further to earlier review:
1) no dropout or skip since purchase 6 months ago. Do some others abuse their CD's or was 1999 a vintage year for the CDC-775? I use my player regularly.
2) digital out versus analog out. With a Yamaha RX-V2095 receiver, the difference is minimal. Perhaps the digital route is a tad more accurate, whereas the analog route, using the CD player's D/A converter, is a shade warmer.
In any event, this Yamaha combo, IMHO, is a winner. For other details refer to the members gallery at: digitaltheater.com

Strength:

Pro-Bit chip

Weakness:

Tray won't go out enough to change 5 disc easily

This is one great changer, it sounds a lot better or equally to much more expensive units. The text feature is great and the best filing lets you skip the tracks that you don't like in each disc.

I have to say that the optical output sounds much better than the analog if you have a decent D/A Converter in your receiver and pay no attention to an earlier review that complaints about the lack of a coaxial output, the sound is pretty much the same and not all receiver have a CD Coaxial input, only higher end ones do.

Overall I beleive this is the best 5 CD Changer in the market today, I have owned changers from Sony ES, Harman Kardon, Denon and Nad in the past and this is the best one yet by far, you can get better sound but only in single CD units. Yamaha's CDC-775 is really worth considering if you enjoy listening to music for long periods of time with great fidelity, disc sound exactly like they were recorded, this is one of the few changers that tells you when a disc was poorly recorded, it lets you know immediately, in many others unit they all sound the same, not in this one. Before you buy listen, no matter how long it takes you to decide, listen close.

Weakness:

the majority of funtions are in remote control, can not be programed during playback

pro-bit system used in high grade yamaha cd players is a nice improvement in order to obtain a natural sound from CD´s.

Sound obtained using pro-bit is more analog, more natural and detailed.

cd text is a nice feature in order to see CD information, but i can add both names and information of ordinary cd in player memory.

especial functions are in remote control, this is a bad idea, if remote control is lost you can not do anything.

digital servo is nice when i play a scratched cd´s ,the skipping rated is less than ordinary servos systems.

in short cdc-775 is a great cd player.
