Weakness:

Everything

This thing blows. First off, when you shufffle, it tries to pul discs from slots without discs in them, leaving you listening to an annoying clunk clunk clunk sound until it realizes there is no disc in the specific slot.

Then, just like the guy below this review, it picks up discs and drops them behind the carousel, jamming the whole thing.

Got it on sale at Circuit City and now I know why it was on sale.

Also, Sony blows. Everything I've ever purchased from them has been returned.

Strength:

I like this player very much. Lots of good features for the price. 200 CD capacity is more than enough. Sony sells a 400 CD Model too!!

Weakness:

CD text when playing cds is not there

Overall a very good player. I havent had any jamming problems. maybe people should be puting their players on a level surface before using it. Its quiet, and decently quick when changing. Cant complain for the price

HEY! Thouse of you complaning of no CDTEXT while playing better get a CD burner. I just realized that the CD TEXT does work while the CD plays. You need to make your own CD's and add CD Text, I used NERO Burning Rom, or buy Artists that are under the Sony label. Then you will see the CD text. I have burned many cds sofar with Nero Burning Rom and I love the CD text. It scrolls as the CD plays. This is great If you like making CDs with various artists.

Weakness:

None that I can see. No Jamming problems here. Just a great unit.

I like it. Great for parties. Awesome Jukebox!

See Review summary

I don't have any problems that the previous reviewers have mentioned; the transitions between CD's are smooth. However, I have a different problem.

The CD player mysteriously skips about 1% of the time. It lasts for about 1 second. They usually occur with the CD's that have minor scratches. The strange part is that this also happens on brand new CD's that have absolutely no scratches.

I don't even know whether the scratches are the reason for the scratching. My old CD player never had a problem reading scratched CD's. Furthermore, it never skips at the same places.

Does anybody have this same problem? Is this CD player way too sensitive to scratched CD's?

Strength:

Holds 200 CD's.

Weakness:

Jams CD's. Returns 2 CD's into same slot. Terrible Group Shuffle.

My wife purchased this unit so that I would give my 100 disc unit to my daughter. I have been very disappointed and will return it tonight. It seems very rough on CD's. Can't think of any reason to buy this unit. Hope I can exchange for a different unit. Perhaps a 5 disc carosel unit.

Strength:

Will never find out

Weakness:

Same as many others - bad CD changer mechanism

Warning: The changer mechanism has a bad design causing CDs to be dropped in the changer unit causing damage to your other CDs in the device. Run, don't walk away from this unit.

I made sure the unit was perfectly level (thinking this may be the problem) -- and then tried it with only 1 CD to see if I can determine the problem. On my unit (not mine for long as I'm returning it) the CD would be loaded, then it would not spin up, and try to eject the disk back to its slot -- when it did this it did not return straight but at an angle and therefore it just ended up being dropped inside the unit.
