Strength:

True, neutral, clean sound, able to read CDR's.

Weakness:

None yet.

Mine is the gold one. I bought it second hand. I looks cool. Very detailed, uncolored, true, neutral and smooth sound. Everything you could want from a cd player. It can read CDR's as well. I paired it with an Onkyo Tx-8211 stereo receiver and Klipsch SF-1 towers. I think I did an impressive job with this combination. I am very happy with the sound I got. No domination of any freq. Everything comes well defined with a very good power reserve of which I have never able to used more than half.

What can i say :). dx-7111 is the best element in my system. i'm using it with yamaha r-3 receiver and harman/kardon td212. speakers are diy. Earlier i had sony cdp-591 but died after 2 years of using it. sony's sound was rather "plastic" in compare to onkyo's sound. 7111's the sound is really clear and oryginall

Strength:

Sweet smooth analog like sound

Weakness:

None in its price range

I have owned over 70 cd players and DAC'S in the $3000
down range and I swear this is the best sounding most
musical of all of them. It is sweet and smooth but still
nicely detailed. Best of all it has absolutely no digitis.
Cymbals sound like metal, sibilance is natural, imaging
and soundstage are excellent. This player is truly
amazing for its price and wipes the floor with others
selling for much more.

player
1)amplifier onkyo a-9211
2)speakers-onkyo d032ax
this is good player with very sweet sound yet it has great clarity in the high frequencies and is not harsh at all
great transient response in my opnion and cd truely come to life on this player asian model comes with optical out
and recomended for anyone with intres in good quality sound
and features i think the above model is being replaced by dx-7222 which also should be very good and i recomend onkyo from the most ordinary systems to the high end sytems
like THX etc.

this is a continuation of the review i posted earlier
the player after break in sounds fantastic and very analog like and there is no harshness at all but there is sharpness in the music and it is not dull i think the DX-7222 also will be equally good .thought of denon and sony but i was
very impressed by the onkyo analog like sound.
i feel i have not wasted money on buying a costly denon
etc and would suggest that you buy good recordings
and good cables with this player rather than blow money for all needless frills IMHO.

Strength:

all that you can name

Weakness:

none

after using this player for over a yera and half now it is the best player in its price it makes the music come alive and reproduces all the notes with precision and is almost on the league of the above except for some dynamic impact and a very slight amount of detail wich is visible only on very high resolution pre mastering systems.

if you can find it grab it now or even the dx-7111 which has the same sound cant comment on the later models as i have not heard them but i feel they will have the same sound if not better .

I compared this player to other more expensive ones from Sony,JVC, Pioneer, Yamaha and concluded that this one was clearly better.
The yamaha, don't remember the model, sounded very close to this,
but it seemed a little too bright. I ended up getting the onkyo.
This onkyo is one of the best at this price.

I bought that CD-player from onecall.com for 161$. Pretty nice looking CD-player. Too bad it does not have digital out but all new models do have it. This model is discontinued in USA and probably this is the last review of this model. Sound is really warm, detailed and crisp. I guess I would need better headphones to judge it (I have Sennheiser HD525, which are in my opinion entry level audiophile's headphones). It is made in China and this fact does not increase company's opinion. Anyway, Onk is really great, way off better than Technics CD-players. I am quite happy with my purchase. For 60$ more I would go with Denon DCM-370 (this is killer CD-player).

Strength:

Good clear sound, Well build, Well priced

Weakness:

None for a player in this price range

I've used a lot of players while testing to see which one sounds the best. The Yamaha did sound very nice indeed, but I opted for the Onkyo since it sounded just as great but cost less. I find that Onkyo give great value for money. They don't include 1000 useless functions on there machines. They seems to focus on great sound at a reasonable price. Since I have to work on a budget I find there products great. If you are willing to spend much more money I'm sure it is possible to find a better player (but then again before buying that $10 000 player - Listen to the Onkyo Integra series and use the money you saved to buy good recordings !!!).
