Strength:

Material used is top quality=connectors, copper conductor,& insulation with exceptional shielding from all interference.

Weakness:

none

I have a new 36" Sony Wega KV36-FV-26 TV. I used the radio shack cables, and was satisfied.until I read, on this thread, that Bettercables delivered a better picture than the RS cables. The reviews I've read were honest, they said the difference was for the very discerning DVD enthusiast.I spent $2000 on my setup,so why go cheap on cables. The good news is Bettercables is Quality & priced right.I'm very happy with my component cables, and will buy again.I won't even put in for a free mousepad,so my review is unencumbered.P.J.

Strength:

Quality constuction

Weakness:

Heavy (not really a weakness, because they're heavy due to quality construction, but will pull out unless you rig it)

As soon as you pick up these cables you know they mean business due to the weight. Also the casing is nothing short of professional. I showed them to a friend, who was friends with someone who built professional cables, and he said the quality was impecable. I have a 36" Sony XBR Wega and Toshiba DVD player. I compared the picture produced from a Monster S Video cable with the picture produced from these component cables. I wont say the BetterCables were leaps and bounds better, but the red's were more red, the blue's more blue, and overall sharpness was improved. However, they did pull out of the rear of the DVD player due to the weight. It was incredibly annoying--was going to send them back, but then figured a way to prevent it by tying the lower end of it to a screw i put in the rear of the TV stand, about 4 inches above where they entered the DVD player, which effectively took the weight off the connecting end. With that problem resolved, I decided to keep them due to the noticeable better picture. Considering the price for some of the high end cables out there, I would unquestionably say that these were a bargain.

Strength:

quality construction and parts, genuine improvement in picture quality, customer service

Weakness:

none

I didn't realize that just changing cables could make such a noticeable improvement. Previously, I thought that any improvement could only be seen with test equipment. I was wrong. I even had to run Avia again and reset some of the video levels after installing these cables. The color resolution and overall crispness of the display is visibally improved. This will be my only cable supplier for the forseeable future.

Build Quality. Picture.

I have a house that requires the cables to be run through two walls and through the attic. Because of this, I have always required custom cables. I ordered a 14 meter Ultra component video cable and hooked my Toshiba SD6200 Progressive Scan DVD to my Mitsubishi WS-65807. Good Grief! The picture was unbelievable. I've been using Dinosaur as a reference and I couldn't believe the difference. The color saturation, black levels and detail are mind boggling. These cables are priced to be extremely competitive but the quality, as far as I can see, is unsurpassed. If you purchase these cables, you will not be sorry. I agree with another comment that Brad Marcus, the owner of Better Cables, is extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Still, without the product, who cares about the service. The product, though, is superior. I've already ordered another one for my HD receiver and an S-Video for all the other components.

Strength:

best possible video signal transfer

Weakness:

cable is somewhat stiff, a function of quality jacket

Pristine signal transfer, gorgeous colors, no interference.
I use a 7 foot run from a toshiba 2109 DVD player (an excellent unit with terrific black level and optional enhancment of contrast) to a new Zenith (yes, Zenith) 64 inch hi-def big screen, which converts all signals to hi-def quality. the sharpness, color, contrast, utter lack of video noise is incredible. try "a bug's life (collector's ed.), or "space jam." even DirectTV (non hi-def) signals are incredible. also try cable on the sony xbr WEGA or better yet on the sony 34" hi-def direct tube set for the ultimate in resolution.

this cable for the last ounce of signal transfer and quality of construction.

WELL BUILT

Weakness:

TOO HEAVY, LOOKS ARE DECEIVING, CHEAP MATERIAL USED

I AM VERY SORRY FOR BURSTING EVERYONE'S BUBBLE HERE, BUT I AM NOT TOO IMPRESSED WITH THIS CABLE. MY SOURCE IS A SONY 7700, FEEDING TOSHIBA'S NEW 56H80 WIDESREEN RPTV. WHEN I FIRST GOT MY NEW TV I RAN A 2 METER S-VIDEO CABLE FROM MY DVD PLAYER DIRECTLY INTO THE TV. THE CABLE WAS OF LOWEST QUALITY, AND CAME WITH MY SATELITE RECEIVER. THE PICTURE WASN'T BAD, SO NATURALLY I WAS EXCITED ABOUT MY NEW ULTRA COMPONENT CABLE WHEN IT ARRIVED. MY EXRECTATIONS WERE HIGH DUE TO THE GREAT REVIEWS ON THIS WEB PAGE. I IMMEDIATELY FOUND THE HARNESS UNNECESSARILY THICK, STIFF, AND HEAVY. IT'S WEIGHT PUTS UNDUE STRESS ON YOUR COMPONENTS' CONNECTORS, AT BOTH ENDS. MY DVD PLAYER IS ALSO SET UP ON BDR CONES, AND IT IS ESSENTIAL TO PROPERLY BALANCE YOUR COMPONENT SO THAT EACH CONE BARES EQUAL WEIGHT. THE WEIGHT OF THE CABLE MAKES THIS DIFFICULT. THE RCA'S USED ARE ALSO OF LOW QUALITY. THE THREE CABLES THEMSELVES LOOK LIKE THEY ARE MADE IN TAIWAN. I BURNED THE CABLE IN FIRST BY RUNNING SEVERAL DVD'S FOR 2 DAYS, NOT PAYING ANY ATTENTION TO IT AT ALL. I AM AN AUDIOPHILE, AND IN AUDIO THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. YOUR CABLES ALWAYS SOUND BETTER AFTER A WHILE.
ANYWAY, I THEN A/B'ed THE COMPONENT CABLE AND THE EL-CHEAPO S-VIDEO, AND TO MY AMAZEMENT AND DISSAPOINTMENT THERE WAS LITTLE DIFFERENCE. THE MINOR IMPROVEMENTS THAT WERE EVIDENT, WERE PROBABLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS NOW BYPASSING THE NTSC COLOR DECODER, NOT ACTUALLY THE QUALITY OF THE CABLE. IN MY DISSAPOINTMENT I WENT TO THE LOCAL RADIO SHACK DEALER AND PURCHASED THREE IDENTICAL 6 FOOT COAX CABLES, FACTORY TERMINATED WITH RCA CONNECTORS. PART NUMBER 15-1519. THESE ARE THE SECOND ONE DOWN FROM THEIR TOP OF THE LINE VIDEO INTERCONNECT. IT COST ME ALL OF $20.00, 30.00 CANADAIN TAX IN. THESE CABLES, COLD OUT OF THE PACKAGE, REVEALED MORE IMPROVEMENTS THAN THE BETTER CABLE DID. DEEPER BLACKS, SLIGHTLY BETTER CONTRAST AND COLOR SATURATION. ALSO LESS SHIMMER AND ARTIFACTS, WITH A LITTLE BETTER DETAIL. FOR AUDIO APPLICATIONS I AM A STRONG BELIEVER IN SEPERATING YOUR CABLES, NEVER RUN THEM PARALLEL OR BUNDLE THEM UP. CURRENT RUNNING THROUGH YOUR CABLE PRODUCES ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY THAT CAN BE PICKED UP BY ADJACENT CABLES, CAUSING INTERFERENCE AND DISTORTION. I THEREFORE CONCLUDE THAT BOTH CABLE SAMPLES ARE OF EQUAL QUALITY (WHICH ISN'T SAYING MUCH FOR BETTERCABLES), BUT IT IS THE APPLICATION THAT GAINED THE RADIOSHACK CABLE THE EDGE. I WILL STOP MY AUDITIONING HERE, UNTIL I HAVE HAD MY RPTV PROFESSIONALLY CALIBRATED BY A TECHNICIAN, I WILL THEN PROCEED TO SAMPLE OTHER HIGHER END VIDEO CABLES, SINGLE CABLES IN THREE'S OF COURSE, NOT FACTORY BUILT COMPONENT CABLES. APPARENTLY PURE SILVER OR SILVER PLATED COPPER COAX CABLE DOES A GREAT JOB FOR VIDEO AND ALL DIGITAL BIT STREAM APPLICATIONS. COULD GET EXPENSIVE THOUGH. I GUESS THE "SHACK" IS HARD TO BEAT!!!

This 10 meter (32 feet) cable is AWESOME.. I was previously hooking my HDTV up to my DVD player using a SVideo cable because I couldn't find any component cables long enough.

The picture quality is amazing. I moved the DVD player next to the TV and used my 3 foot monster component cable, and there's actually a major picture IMPROVEMENT with the 32 foot cable vs. the monster cable.

Yeah they cost more, but it was *well* worth the money -- don't spend $800 on a DVD player, then $6 on a cable... the cable makes ALL of the difference.
