Strength:

Clarity, better color saturation, enhanced brightness (not the kind of sort you get by turning PICTURE up on your TV)

Weakness:

None......though I'm not too sure whether I like the rubber casing part.

To relate my experience with Radio Shack Component cable and Brad's Ultra Component cable, I think Ultra is superior by a remarkable margin. It's not overwhelmingly better, but you can immediately see the difference in enhanced clarity and better color saturation. The picture now is also brighter without washing out, not the same kind of brightness you get by turning up BRIGHTNESS or PICTURE gauge on your tv. Now I have actually reduced the amount of PICTURE in the movie mode of my tv, and I think I can definately see the improvement Ultra component has brought. Whether that justifies $80 I paid is up to each one's taste. I believe it does. And, should I stumble upon any better performing cable in the same price range, I can return the cable within the next five months. That atually is a pretty good deal, I believe.

Strength:

excellent built, great connection, video signal is excellent, colours are vibrant.

Weakness:

only thing bad is the cable is hidden so no one gets to see such a fantastic cable.

I have been using this cable for a while now.. I must say that the quality of the picture is fantastic.. what prompt us to buy the cable however was not so much the stellar reviews but the outstanding customer service from the folks at bettercables.com .. I badgered and asked numerous questions and Brad Marcus did all the answering himself.. and made things very clear. extremely helpful. I definitely will buy more cables from bettercables.com for the fact that we are getting an excellent cable.. and along with that great service.

Next on our list will be the serpents when we build our new home theater.

Strength:

picture quality, brightness, colour is brilliant.

Weakness:

very heavy.. very thick.

I purchased the BetterCable component cable based on recommendation on this web site.. I must say that I was very much skeptical at first.. and paranoid to purchase it from someone who did not have a store.. it is always to get Monster cables.. but I e-mail Brad a few times.. and he was very prompt and very patient in answering my questions.. never tooting his own horn about his product.

When I first open the package.. I noticed an incredibly thick and huge cable.. it was very heavy. Compared to the Phoenix cable (which was pretty good for what they costed).

However.. the bettercable component was hands down sharper.. and the colours just jumped out at you.. making the pictures come alive.

How it stands against the Monster cables?? I have seen monster cable used on my television.. and I must say that the bettercables were as good.. and cost $30 less.. so definitely this cable is well worth the price.

Strength:

Picture quality, durability, impressiveness

Weakness:

Weight, flexibility

This review is for 2 of the Ultra Component cables that I bought last year. I have two 3 meter sets. One is for my Sony 9000ES DVD Player and the other for my Dish 6000 HDTV receiver. Both connect to my Mitsubishi WS-65907 HDTV. The quality of theses cables is unbelievable. I definitely noticed a difference in picture quality when switching to them from the stock component cables I was using. Color looked better and the picture seemed clearer overall. The weaknesses I listed may or may not be an issue for you. Personally, although they makes them a little hard to work with, they also make them that much more impressive for people checking out my setup. They are always amazed at the size of the cable. I used some wire ties to stabilize them in my rack, problem solved. Now I just enjoy the great picture. Anyway, now that they have the Silver Serpent series that is supposed to have the same quality with more flexibility and smaller size, you need look no further than Bettercables for IMHO the best value in high end cables out there. The service was excellent as well.

Strength:

Sharp, clear pictures with 100% accurate colors

Weakness:

None.

When I first got my 36" Sony WEGA I had it hooked up to my DVD player with a $10 S-Video cable I got at Sears when I bought the player. At the time I was amazed at the bright vibrant colors and amazingly sharp images I was viewing. Going by the reviews on this site tho, I knew that bettercables.com component cables should provide me with a far superior viewing experiance, so I ordered them :)

When I first hooked these up, I didn't notice too much of a difference, but I could tell that the colors were more accurate. More accurate might not be what you are expecting though, because the colors in my case were actually not as bright. The colors were more realistic, everything is now the color it was intended to be.

After using these for a couple of months, I hooked up my old S-Video cable and did some A/B comparisons again. After watching with my ultra component cables for this long, I could easily see how much better the quality is next to the s-video's inaccurate colors.

Pictures on my TV now look like moving photos, I am a believer in the quality of these cables.

My System so far:
TV: Sony WEGA KV36FV16
Receiver: Yamaha HTR-5240
DVD: Sony DVP-S360
Mains: Boston Acoustics CR8s
Subwoofer: Boston Acoustics PV600
Cables: Monster Speaker Cables, Bettercables Ultra Component Video

Strength:

Build quality is higher than any product I have seen (and can afford)

Weakness:

None

I just want to say that the cables I purchased (Ultra Component Video Cable) cannot be matched by any other, don’t be fooled by all the claims that are made by others, check these out for yourself, take my word for it or whatever you need to do, but get yourself a pair of these cables, I have friends that have fallen in love with these just at the sight of the cables alone (trust me, they are that impressive). The bottom line, you can spend tons more money, but you could never buy better cables then the ones at Bettercables.com.

Strength:

High Quality Product, obvious craftmanship.

Weakness:

A little bulky, but isn't that what you are paying for?

Just purchased a 2 meter cable to go with my new 32" Wega. The picture is astounding. The colors and blacks in Neil Young's "Silver & Gold" DVD are awesome.

Further, and most importantly is the customer service. I called Brad several times on the toll-free number and he answered all my questions. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I told him I needed the cable in two days, because the back of the Wega would be difficult to get to after installation. He personally took it to FedEx that day and I had it the next morning. I paid for the two-day shipping, but what other company would provide this kind of service? I would not hesitate to buy another product from this company.

Strength:

Color saturation, ability to handle white/black levels and gradations, build quality, and especially price

Weakness:

none that I have seen since I installed them

Having used both quality levels of the Monster (Video 2-$69.00 and M1000V-$200.00) cable, I can honestly say that the Better Cables Ultra is the superior cable. IMHO, of course.
When I upgraded to the Monster M1000V, I figured it would be the last component cable I would buy. The overpriced offerings from Tributaries and CinemaQuest(AudioQuest) were never considered. Yet the upgrade to the M1000V was minimal at best- a little better color saturation, that was about it.
Then I read about Better Cable on the AVS Forum and decided to try the Ultra. Wow, what a surprise. If I was reviewing an audio cable I would phrase it as "system/component/room dependent". But, objectively, to my eyes anyway, this Ultra cable greatly surpassed the M1000V in color saturation, nuances of white levels, detail, and simply, a more 3D like image. The picture was just displayed without the grain which I saw with the Monster cable.
I know Better Cables is comprised of DIY components. And that the DIY inclined can source Canare, Belden, etc. online. But for the price Brad Marcus asks for his handiwork, I opted to let Better Cables do the work.
I highly recommend that if you are in the market for a great Component Video cable, at a steal of a price, then order the Ultra cable.
I have already ordered the Ultra Digital Audio cable to replace my Monster M1000D (which runs between my Pioneer 414 DVD player and my DSP-A1), as well as their Sub cable. When these cables arrive, I will have replaced all my Monster cable interconnects with Better Cables. I should have done this 18 months ago.

After using Monster Component Video Cables for about several months, which I thought to be very good. I tought of giving the Better Cables Ultra Component Video Cables a try. I was totally blown away on the color and crispness it brought to my large analog 60" screen. I Said good bye Monster and Hello Better cables. It was also much cheaper in price too.

It was a pleasure dealing with Brad Marcus from Bettercables. The ordering process was simple and the cables which I ordered arrived promptly and in good condition. The cable connects a Toshiba 6200 progressive scan DVD with a Mitsubishi HDTV with spectacular results. When people come over, they are blown away by the picture and sound.
