Strength:

Solidly constructed, Excellent terminations, Expensive and nice looking, and best of all High end performance!

Weakness:

Absolutely none!

This digital coaxial is awesome! The most noticeable improvement I heard was listening to music. The soundstage became huge. The low end was tight, the highs were crisp but not bright, and the mids were more defined!
On the movie side, watching DVD's encoded in DTS and AC3, I noticed more ambience in the surrounds and more clarity in the dialogue. Unbelievable performance unheard of in this price range.

Strength:

Sturdy, solid, great performance.

Weakness:

Had to try these cables after reading all the positive reviews I saw here. I must say that the performance of this cable was even better than I expected (and I expected a lot). The highs were much more defined than with my Monster digital cable-not even in the same league! The bass was more punchy and my cds/dvds seemed to come alive. I listened to my 96khz/24-bit dvds and the imaging was excellent with a beautiful soundstage.

I have tried a bunch of other digital cables and this was the best by far. So I'm off to upgrade all of my cables to "Better Cables".

Strength:

Much better than monster optical interconnect

Weakness:

none, so far

Cleaner and more detailed sound in both dvd's and music.
I was really impressed after I hooked this cable to my system, noticed and immediate change in the quality of my sound. More details in effects channels were noticed on dvd movies and music was so much more lively and pronounced.
I would never go back to Monster in this price range.

Strength:

huge soundstage, excellent quality, great customer service (Brad), no break in time required

Weakness:

ABSOLUTELY NONE

I was going to buy the ultra until brad called me and introduced me to the new silver serpent series. He offered to ship for free. I said ok..got the cables today and
WOAAAAA...a lil more costly at $69/0.5M but well worth it.
Yes, they made a 0.5M length by popular demand.

It certainly lived up to the hype. Soundstage is phenomenal..allows for a much bigger sweet spot for my maggies. It's no wonder why these cables received the thumbs up award

1. Grab your toslink optical cable
2. Throw it in the garbage
3. Goto bettercables.com and order the silver serpent digital coax cable
4. Try to keep that kool-aid smile off your face afterwards

Strength:

Wide open sound. Crisp clean and neutral. Excellent build quality.

Weakness:

non so far.

This cable improved the sound of my system mightily. I was not aware that my cd player (Denon 370) was producing so much detail in the highs. This cable lets all this detail shine through without being harsh or fatiguing. It simply reveals perfectly what is in the audio stream. The mids and bass are also very impressive. Mids being well balanced and smooth, and bass being tight and under control. An excellent cable all around. And at an excellent price.

Also, Brad is a very courteous guy to talk with and will answer any questions promptly.

Ever since I bought my S-Video cable from BetterCables.com more than a year ago and compare it to my Monster S-Video Premium 3, I've always trusted the quality of the cables from BetterCables. I just bought the Silver Serpent Digital Coax and Silver Serpent VGA to RGBHV recently and very happy with the quality.
The customer service is one of the best in the world, too. I changed my order "lord knows" how many times, and still got everything taken care of excellently.
Thanks !

Strength:

Solid Construction. Sonic qualities: transparency, very good music detail. Good Bass.

Weakness:

None at the price.

I use the Bettercables digital coaxial cable between a MSB Digital Director and my P-3 DAC from Perpetual Technologies.
Prior to that I used a Monster Digital Coaxial. The Bettercables cable is more open and detailed. I also notice more refined bass and less noise. For the price this is a very good product.

This review is about the sivler serpent coaxil cable. The quality of the cable is excellent. In terms of dealing with Brad he took the time to share the building of the cable. As I looked at other cables this one is different, it is built very solid. In listen to Saving Private Ryan, the quanitity of sound as well as the quality was amazing. At one point I heard crackling sound coming from the speaker and I wondered what was wrong when I realized the sound was the burning of a fire. In listening to the Matrix, again the quality of sound accurate and precise. In terms of other cables, my experience with recommendations from various audio centers, the recommendations have been monster cables. To be honest with you, this cable for $69 for a 1/2 meter is far more outstanding. In term of any other cables down the road, bettercables has my business. In terms of dealing with bettercables you will be dealing directly with the manufacter, not a middle man.

Strength:

cool tech-flex outer sleeve, decent connectors, customer service

Weakness:

intended purpose - quality, better sounding digital coax - misses the mark

Purchased the Silver Serpent Digital Coax (.5M) based upon the rave reviews here on audioreview.com. Placed it between my Sony DVP-C650D DVD player and B&K AVP3090 pre-amp, in place of a Kimber-Illuminations DV-30 Digital Coax. Yawn, waste of time. The cable compressed the soundstage, and did exactly what a good cable is NOT supposed to do, got in the way. Burn-in, shmurn-in, my Kimber Hero interconnects and DV-30's are fabulous out of the box, and just keep getting better. If you want a far better digital coax, and one that performs equally well as your component video connection, then spend the exact same money on DV-30 and go about your merry way in complete satisfaction.

Brad's got a cool business model (consumer-direct), and customer service was top notch from start to finish through this transaction, just didn't like the product. I give it two stars because it could work in a different system, but no doubt you can spend the same money elsewhere and get better performance.

System;
Rotel RB985 amp
B&K AVP3090 preamp
Sony DVP-C650D DVD/CD (admitted weak link)
Sony XBR34 HDTV
B&W 603/CC6 speakers
Hero/DV-30/double-run 4TC (bi-wired)

Strength:

Clarity, Measurable soundstage expansion

Weakness:

None so far, none expected.

I just got this in the mail today, took off my Monster, hooked it up, and popped 'Pink Floyd - Division Bell' in the Denon 370. The difference was IMMEDIATE!! I heard instruments in 'Cluster One' that I had never heard before! The sound is so much more smooth and relaxed. I'm listening to it now, and I can hardly believe it. I'm freaking exstatic! This thing beats the everliving nuts off anything monster can put out, thats quite certain. They say it takes about 100 hours(?) to burn in, and I can't wait! I'm going to get the premium speaker cables soon and throw a little more of this Monster crap right out the window!! (to my grubbing neighbor) Sure it was twice the price as Monster, but then the cable is ATLEAST twice as good! These dudes who say that this isn't good cable have either crap components, or way too much money on their hands.
