BetterCables Silver Serpent Component Video Cable Video/Digital Cables

DESCRIPTION

We are proud to introduce our new flagship Silver Serpent Component Video Cable. Engineered for video excellence. While small in physical size, these component video cables are GIANT in performance. Our cables are suitable for critical runs even as long as 200 feet or more. Perfect for HDTV and DVD (interlaced and progressive) and any situation where signal quality should not be compromised. This cable enables your equipment to reproduce the best color saturation, black level and detail possible. We doubt there is a higher performing component cable available ANYWHERE at ANY price. The cable features solid silver-clad copper center conductors, hard-cell high-density foam PE insulation, 75-ohm impedance (with impedance-matched connectors), low 17.3 pF per ft capacitance, and triple shielding for unmatched RF and EMI interference protection. This cable is also NEC CL2 rated for in-wall use.

Strength:

build quality, picture quality

Weakness:

Connector kinda small but tight enough.

Purchased it direct from the web, previously using Canare component cable... thought it was good enough...but curious with the well reviewed bettercable... and WOW!!! I never looked back.

I notice black is much blacker without losing detail and brightness... this is not a slight difference but huge.... and noise is greatly reduced, impressive.

BTW, I'm using CRT projector with 100 inch 16:9 screen...and the cable greatly improved the picture quality.
Would be happy to get other bettercable to go with my system.

I bought these cables to connect my Toshiba DVD player to my brand new Toshiba 50h81 HD monitor. I watch a lot of DVD's (thanks to Netflix.com). I'm simply stunned by the colors and quality of the images being transmitted over these cables. I don't know all the lingo yet to describe what's good about the picture, but I'll certainly never buy anything that says "Monster" on it again. These cables ROCK. They look cool too, I was trying to figure out a way to let the cables show instead of hiding them behind my component shelves. I intend to buy all my future cables from Bettercables.com, including another set of components for when Xbox hits the stores. These cables are a little on the pricey side, but when you're spending $4000-$6000 for a complete home theater setup, it's negligable.

Definitely noticed that the video coming from my Sony projector was clearer and more vivid. Upgraded from el-cheapo component cables. I figured that since I had equipment that is in the upper scale I should have the best signal that I could get. These are the cables to do that with.

Can't think of any..

The quality of the signal is nothing short of phenominal. I have a Sony Wega flatscreen hooked up to a Philips 950AT DVD player.

I was a little surprised when the cable came because it seemed so small and flimsy.

But I can't imagine getting a better looking picture if they were the size of tree trunks. It is a noticable step up from the S-Video cable that came with the player. I haven't tried the less expensive locally available Monster Component Cables, but I don't see how they could outperform these.

I have a large TV (80 inch) and I was using S-Video. When I change from Monster S-Video to Monster Component, the change was breath taking. I couldn't believe the difference. Color were brighter and more clear. My wife noticed the difference also. I was told that the Better Cables Silver Serpent would improve my picture, I didn't believe it. How could there be any real difference when such an improvement was made. Anyway, after reading several reviews of people that I consider GODS (Obi and Mike Knapp) I thought that I would give it a try. I told my wife (which was very skeptical) that I was going to give a go. Well when I installed it, I was as much as a difference going between the S-Video and Component! I couldn't believe it. My wife and I watched the Fifth Element that night, she commented how much of a difference the Silver Serpent cable made over the monster cable. She said that it was a total keeper. The cable made the colors brighter and more vivid. The picture was so much sharper. It also made the picture a little brighter. We had our TV ISF calibrated and thought that the picture was a little dark. Well using this cable, it brighten the picture a little and we got more detail. A definite must for people with larger TV's.

What can I say. When I first opened the box I can right away see the strength in the construction of this cable. I knew that it would take A LOT of abuse before damaging the inner components of this cable. I was SOOO eager to test the cable out but we were still in the process of renovating our house and our entertainment center had not been delivered yet.

After my system was setup and I placed a DVD in right away I can see the detail of the image compared to RCA cables. I was very disappointed that I had NOT been using these cables sooner. These cables almost make you feel like you're watching a DVD on your computer monitor. The images is that clear.

Seeing how impressive the Silver Serpent Component cables were I placed an order for the Silver Serpent Digital Coax audio cable. Don't have a receiver but I know I have a cable here waiting for one.

Strength:

Provides better colour saturation (with no blooming) and improved contrast and detail. Great looking mesh cover.

Weakness:

Expect a noticeable but not a dramatic improvement and cables are a bit pricey to get into Canada.

I just received my cables a few days ago and while not blown away, I notice a distinct improvement over the generic cables I was using. The drawback is that older colour movies such as Ten Commandments appear slightly grainer (due to increased resolution) while others such as The Matrix and Superman look that much better. Thus, the better your source material the better the results.

My equipment:
Toshiba sd2108 dvd player (3 1/2 years old with component video)
Toshiba 50HX70 High-def ready big screen TV

I feel the value rating for these cables are not enough for 5 stars, but these are superior cables that would likely cost more from a comparable manufacturer.

Excellent picture over long runs, quality RCA connections, customer service

When I realized the new layout my wife chose for the family room required approximately an 8 meter run of component video cable, I was immediately resigned to a serious degredation in the overall picture from my DVD player. After reviewing this site and hearing the rave reviews about Bettercables.com, I decided it was time to step up to a higher grade of cable.

Well, I was stunned by the performance. The color saturation was excellent and the detail even in dark passages was crisp. I did not have the revelation of others and "see things I not not seen before". Of course, increasing the run 16 fold may have something to do with that. I felt as though the quality of the 8 meter run was slightly better than my previous 0.5 meter run of Monster although just a step below the 0.5 meter run of the Tributaries. Given the signal loss I was expecting for the length of my run, I definitely feel this cable's performance was far better than I imagined. I did not even have to tap into my child's college education fund for something from MIT, etc.

The 4 star value rating should be taken exactly as defined by AudioReview - I felt this cable was a great deal. I feel as though for the performance, the price is more than fair. I confess I was a bit disappointed that BetterCables.com decided to discontinue its extremely popular less expensive "Ultra" line to focus solely on the Silver Serpent series. If the Ultra line provided close to the performance at a 20% lower price, now that would be 5 stars!

maybe, rca plugs? read reveiw.

Let me start out with you will be amazed with the end result when using this cable. Every thing picture quality, colors, black/white levels are unmatched. But the one thing that really stood out for me, is the lack of grain in the picture. I've had other component cables not even close.
When I first received these cable I was a little taken back because the terminated rca ends were not like the picture on there web site and they looked like some old end on 20yr old vampire wire I still had laying around. Not the WBT locking end I'm use too. So I talked to Brad at bettercables and he said that they are high quaility ends and I will take his word for it. He also said that it I'd send them back for ends like in the picture I could. But I do not think their leaving my system any time soon.
I think his thinking is the rca on the cables are light in nature, have a very good tight fit about them and are not going to come loose or pull the output connector from the pcboard or come loose inside. Since I'm a technician by trade I see this more and more with all grades of equitment.

To Brad and Bettercables thanks for a great cable and showing me what good picture quaility is about regardless of price.

I am using this cable to connect my Sony DVD player to my JVC G11 projector. Even with a length of 15 meters, the picture is terrific-no complaints.
