BetterCables Silver Serpent Component Video Cable Video/Digital Cables

BetterCables Silver Serpent Component Video Cable Video/Digital Cables

DESCRIPTION

We are proud to introduce our new flagship Silver Serpent Component Video Cable. Engineered for video excellence. While small in physical size, these component video cables are GIANT in performance. Our cables are suitable for critical runs even as long as 200 feet or more. Perfect for HDTV and DVD (interlaced and progressive) and any situation where signal quality should not be compromised. This cable enables your equipment to reproduce the best color saturation, black level and detail possible. We doubt there is a higher performing component cable available ANYWHERE at ANY price. The cable features solid silver-clad copper center conductors, hard-cell high-density foam PE insulation, 75-ohm impedance (with impedance-matched connectors), low 17.3 pF per ft capacitance, and triple shielding for unmatched RF and EMI interference protection. This cable is also NEC CL2 rated for in-wall use.

Strength:

video output quality is exceptional, silver mesh cable insulation very sturdy, quality constructed gold-plated rca jacks (made in japan!)

Weakness:

individual cable for the three video components seem flimsy, and rather thinly insulated when coming out of the silver mesh--monster video 3 cables are thick and seem better insulated, imho.

Other than the weakness described above (thin, flimsy to the touch cables coming out of the silver insulation mesh), I have no absolutely no quibbles when it comes to the cable's performance. Have it hooked up directly from a Sony 9000ES into a Toshiba 65H80 and the video quality is nothing short of stunning. In the opening sequence of Star Trek: First Contact, when the camera pans out of Picard's face, I literally sat there with my mouth gapping as I saw details I only thought were possible in a movie theater (sweat pores, wrinkles, the cavernous Borg ship in the reflection of Stewart's eyes). More video-intensive DVD's (eg. Dinosaur, Bug's Life, etc.) passed with flying colors; have to be seen to believe. Price was a bit steep ($120 for the 2-meter run) but hey, you get what you paid for, right? Anyway, with the fine reputation of BetterCables.com and the glowing reviews it regularly receives here, I figure I couldn't go wrong with this purchase. Moreover, I thought it appropiate that if I'm gonna spend a bank-busting $1500 on a progressive DVD player and another $3500 on the projection TV, I might as well not settle for anything less when it came to the most crucial part: the cable that actually transmits the all important video signals between the two compnonents! But alas, I couldn't prevail myself to give this a 5 ("Bargain, Giant killer") Value Rating--if it went for $60-70, then you're talking! As for BetterCables.com, the customer service was impecable. Placed my order on Monday, got it in on Wednesday. And what other company offers a 6 month satisfaction guarantee! Very pleased with this product.

Strength:

Customer service, value, performance, appearance.

Weakness:

Not widely know. Hard to get opinions off-line.

My need was for a component video cable in excess of 3 meters. I was hesitant to use a vendor that advertises strictly online. Everyone I asked only knew about the company via online reviews. After calling the company, the BetterCables.com seemed to offer the best product for the money. To my surprise, this product has exceeded my expectations. I have been so impressed by both the customer service and product quality that over the next few months I will change my critical listening interconnects over to BetterCables.com products.

Anyone that is into A/V systems will spend as much (and slightly more) as they can afford. Why connect the equipment with inferior wire? I am convinced that BetterCables.com has the best formula for the success of their business and end users like myself. Put the resources into the product - not the advertising and packaging. They were very helpful in answering all my questions and professional enough not to speak poorly about the competition. All this in a no pressure sales environment.

Now, if car dealers could do this???

great picture, easy to rout

I bought these to replace my moster cable video 3 component cables. I am happy. I did not pay much more for these than the moster cable brand and they are far superior. If you want good cables I think these are the way to go. they won't break you bank and you won't be sitting there wondering if your cheep cables are taking away from your picture quality.

Strength:

quality, price, size

Weakness:

flimsy ends

These cables are 100% worth the money. As well, they are better or equal to higher priced cables. There is no valid reason to spend more, but there is a very good reason not to spend any less, because this is the cable you want. There is absolutely no compromise in quality.

These are very nice hand-made cables, the ends are a little flimsy but that shouldn't matter unless you step on the cables.

I paid $140 for a 3 meter cable, an excellent price.

Strength:

Very crisp detail. The clarity from going to this from svideo was a huge gain. Color seperation and depth of colors was much better. Brigher and Crisp.

Weakness:

The cheap looking cables coming out of the insulation. Should be a better insulator to prevent the wires from being crimped. The cheaper model seems to have a better insulation.,,not sure about the picture difference though.

Overall this made the quality of the DVD's on my old Mit's big screen sharper and better contrast. You could actually see the yellow lines contrasting with black instread of them bleeding together. A good cable for the $100 spent. I am sure it's much better than the Monster cables out there for the same price.

Strength:

Very high quality cable.

Weakness:

A little expensive for the average person.

This was my fist pair of video component cables. I was using
an s-video cable for the DVD to my new projection TV. The previous TV did not have component video connections. The picture was fine but I was curious as to how a set of component video cable would perform. I was a bit skeptical
but the 6 month money back refund from bettercables.com convinced me to try it out.

Once I hooked up the silver serpent component video cable, I notice right away that the colors were more vibrant and details that didn't catch my eye before with the s-video cable was there now. Although I didn't own any other brand of component video cable to compare with the Silver Serpent, I'm very satisfied with them.

I have my cable hooked up to my HDTV decoder and this cable provides a superior picture compared to the Monster cable. The colors are brighter and more vivid. The picture is sharper. I liked it so much I bought the digital coax cable.

Strength:

color resolution, compact

Weakness:

losing details in dark areas!!

I've checked many reviews on getting quality images for my front projector system and finally decided on bettercables. To my surprise, in switching from s-video to component video input (including the lower priced Hisawa cable), the only plus has been a slight improvement on color saturation and smoothness ... but the minus is losing details in dark areas!!

Now I keep my fingers crossed to keep "breaking in" the cable for another 50 hours. I fear that I may take its 6 months refund policy in the end!

My delimma came when I moved into a new house with a built- in Entertainment center. So my biggest problem was the new TV location is now 24 feet from the DVD player. As you know it is very difficult to find Component Video Cables at that length!! None of the local stores carried it. All the sales reps kept telling me is that I will lose picture quality with that distance.

So I called bettercables.com and told them my situation. Over the phone they said that 24 feet is nothing!! I'm like OMG, so I ordered the Silver Serpent Component Video cable 26ft with FREE SHIPPING!!

Took a VERY LONG five days to get here, but well worth the wait. When I got it, I decided to test it out vs my Monster Video 3 at 6ft. This is a BC at 26ft vs a MC3 at 6ft!!

Well I think the true test of all DVD's is Mulin Rouge. This DVD is very difficult because of all the colors. I first test the MV3 and the picture was above average to good. When I tested the BC the picture was good to EXCELLENT!! I noticed the red colors were more refined and didn't bleed as much. The faces were a lot more detailed and clear. I was so impressed, and this is using a 26ft bettercable vs a 6ft Monster Vid 3!!

I still like Monster Products, but Better Cable slayed the Monster.

I would highly recommend anyone to compare. There is nothing to lose....satisfaction guarenteed!!

Strength:

Built like a tank. Thicker than the power wires coming into my house

Weakness:

not very flexible (nit picking)

Very nice product, great money back guarantee, hooked these component cables up to my pioneer 302 dvd player, as good or better than tributaries (less expensive and an apparent better build quality). The monsters were less expensive (10 bucks) but not quite as good with color rendition or sharpness. Radio Shack, not bad for the price but why skimp (maybe on your VCR). Cables are actually the least expensive upgrades with highest ROI (return of investment).
When adjusting my JVC 40" TV with AVIA the Better Cables shined over anything I've tried to date. Everything from contrast to sharpness was easier to adjust and looked spectacular. I could actually get good results with most cables with AVIA, but spending less than 5% of the total cost of your TV and DVD on cables is money well spent for great results.
After comparing their audio cables to others I went with Better Cables. I had to try their vidio cables and I don't regret it a bit.
