I'm kinda different from the most of you. I'm a guitar player and have a nice 19" rack with all tube gear (Mesa/Boogie). And because I do not want to loose my precious tube sound I've used Van Den Hul D-102 III for all connections and the CS-122 as speaker cable.

And the difference between the CS-122 and my pretty good custom made 14.5 gauge speaker cable is amazing. The bass is soo much deeper and clearer it's really amazing. Not boomy or muddy at all. Just very clear and powerfull. Overall the sound was much more detailed, more relaxed and more even on all frequencies. This cable has greatly enhanced (or should I say restored/saved) my sound.

I can HIGHLY recommend these for all guitar and bass players, cause they are really amazing.

Strength:

Clarity and speed

Weakness:

Ultimate low frequency resolution (concomitant with the price).

I reviewed this cable awhile ago and I have since changed my whole setup except for this cable. It fits my new setup quite well as well (see below). Having heard a lot of more expensive cable, I must say that this is not the best out there, but in their hybrid design VDH has done a fine job. To get a much better sound, you will need to shell out another $500 and really, that would be better spent in the area of sources and such. The flabby ass bass as noted by other reviewers probably has nothing to the cable being flabby, but rather it exposing coloured speakers and electronics. To be quite honest, I find it to be a very neutral cable.
If you are looking for an economic, versatile, and fast cable, give these a try. They are a real bargain.

Strength:

fast sounding, rhythm and pace thing

Weakness:

congested soundstage, no air, not transparent enough

good cable for the price excellent entry into high end cable, however once you have upgraded your system beyond this cables capabilities, go for cardas, harmonic technology, transparent, wireworld, or nirvana

British rags swoon over this stuff, well its not as great as they make it out to be, you can get much, much better, but be prepared to spend

If Cardas golden cross was a 5, regular cross a 4, and hex 5 a 3.75, than the 122 is a 2, but I would rate any monster cable as a 1 or less, so I guess that makes this cable twice as good as monster barf

Sorry Alex, were not deaf at what ur saying because u were sucessful with the van den hul. as for me, its junk. people really have their own preferences when it comes to music, and it so happened that the guys who gave a poor rating doesnt like van den huls characteristic type of cable. i have a decent tube amp, and i would say that this speaker cable only gave me a muddy bass, less detail high and unrealistic mids. maybe ur the one who has a poor equipment and only the cs122 was able to cover them up!

What is the matter with these guy’s that rated this cable with 1 star? Are the deaf or so? Are they so obsessed with their old equipment that they don’t want to hear the details, openness, transparency, bass, etc. that the VDH can bring out. Or is this really a perfect example of people for whom the price is the criterion, that is: only exuberant high prices give them the psychological rest, feeling and assurance that they have bought the right thing!

I use this cable with the following speakers: Apogee Caliper, Quadral Amun and B&W 604 S2. For newcomers to this site I can say that you can go for the VDH CS 122 Hybrid. This cable delivers tons of qualities for a bottom price.
By the way, I have experience with other cable brands, but this one is a real golden tip.

Weakness:

A very poor mid, highs are not audible

I had the VDH in my setup for about a month. I was doing a sound comparison for a buddy of mine.
I really couldn't listen to this cable, the music is so muffle compared to my Tara Lab. The low frequencies were not coming out at full strength, highs were less detail and I couldn't recognize Sara K's voice anymore.

No doubt about it, my friend chose the Prime 500.
