Supra Ply 3.4 Speaker Cables

Supra Ply 3.4 Speaker Cables

DESCRIPTION

Simplistic fat conductors’ rising impedance (due to L) of +6dB/octave is further raised by internal eddy currents causing ’Skin effect’, like ’the square root of inductance’, adding. +3dB/oct, to the L-reactance slope. For typical cable runs, nett inductivity is such that performance in heavy plain conductors is measurably affected with steady signals just above 1kHz.

Strength:

A bargain for the price. Can be recommeded even for high level systems.

Weakness:

At the begining, during the first listening sessions,it's destabilizing : in fact, our ears are not used to hear the truth. Is it really a weakness of the cable?

This cable is a great revelation for me.The cable I have tried just before,Real Cable BM 250 using silver plated on copper, behave like a high-pass filter procuring an artificial and coloured sound. With Supra Ply 3.4,our ears simply hear the truth : it protects the integrity of the musical signal, giving a very natural sound with excellent transparency.Neutral and balanced,it lets a pleasant impression of absence of any distortion with a great respect of the recordings.Good detailed with an excellent bandwidth and very goog soundstage, the instruments sound like the reality of concert. In fact,I rediscover my records. The theory of Tommy Jenving is absolutly right.Thank you Mr.Jenving!

Strength:

Weakness:

a little stiff but who cares

Having read previous reviews, I knew what to expect. Im using the ply 3.4s shielded cable biwired to b&w 602s2. At first it was crap as I expected. But over the last month it has got better and better. Now it sounds fantastic. smooth and detailed and my nautilis tweeters came to life, and it probrably has heaps more burning in to do!!

Strength:

smoothness, detail and improved low. A very rewarding cable for a modest price.

Weakness:

It takes some time and effort to get the best out of it.

I think that Ben from Oslo, who has also written a review, has overlooked a very important thing. This cable needs a long time to burn in. My first impressions weren't that possitive too. But after one week intensive playing it really shines and it is still improving. It also pays to use a burn-in CD and let it play for a day (or two) while you're not at home. It rewards your efforts with a very detailed mid, a smooth treble and a firm bass which belies it's modest price($12,50 per meter). A true bargain.

Strength:

Affordable

Weakness:

Just about everything

I'm sorry, but this cable killed my system, i was looking for an affordable cable to replace my Cable Talk 3.1. Since the Cable Talk is ultra cheap, I thought it wouldn't take much to beat it. But I was Wrong, just about every aspect of the sound in my system worsened, it became dark, undetailed, a terrible disappointment.
The only advice i can give you is to try the shielded version, when TNT-Audio tested these cables, they gave the unshielded version literally the boot. But claimed the shielded one sounded way better, since the price difference is slight maybe I should try it, and restore some of my earlier faith in this Swedish company.

Strength:

price, quality, customer services, sound.

Weakness:

hard to find in some areas.

If you listen to cables, or want slam-in-your-face, bright, harsh sounds, look else where.

But if you listen to MUSIC, and want clean, open, full bodied, dynamic, slightly laid-back, smooth, detailed, 3-D imaging sound - at a VERY affordable price. Get the Supra Ply 3.4 S.

I'm running it bi-wired.

You can get it from directly, if you don't have a distributor in your country.

None what i know of.Yeah one the color

I used to use van den hul mc cs 122 it was the best for my system at that time 7 years ago.
And i hade tryed all most every cable in the pricerange from 10$ to 100$ per meter and it was one of the best.
But it doesent stand a change to the Supra cabel, the best i ever tested. It`s a super cable though it´s ugly.
Ill recomend it in systems up to an 10000$.

Strength:

quality, not expensive (one may say CHEAP!)

Weakness:

color (I prefer black)

I use this cable (4 meter pieces) for my MonitorAudio Bronze 3 loudspeakers and I'm satisfied with them. They don't color sound, it passes very clear, so wires are simply 100% transparent, at leat for me. It was very easy to fix this cable in Banana jacks and for its thickness cable is very flexible. One major disadvantage is cable's color - it looks like yogurt on the floor, but who realy cares if it sounds right? Cable has some research behind and materials and technologies used also matters so for it's price it is MUST BUY.

Strength:

Great sound at all frequencies for a reasonable price.

Weakness:

Weird colour.

I use the Supra Ply 3.4 in a bi-wire setup on my Infinity Kappa 90 speakers and they sound great. I had problems with poor bass repsonse with my previous cables, LS-Kabel. They were fairly thin straight wire cables of German make in a pre-packaged bi-wire setup. The Supra Ply 3.4 has given me MUCH better bass response and smoother treble. It's fantastic, I can't believe what a difference it has made.
By the way, the dealer claimed that the shielded Supra Ply 3.4 S wasn't any better, so I settled for the normal Ply 3.4. I think this cable must be very good value for money. Highly recommended.

Strength:

soundstage, neutral, smooth

Weakness:

none discovered yet

I have this cable now for a few years and I must say that it's very satisfactory. The soundstage is tremendous and it sounds so incredibly smooth overall that I keep grounded to my seat wanting never to get out of it. Fortunately their is a 60 minute limit on a cd so I must get up at least to change it. It's not aggressive in any way and I can imagine that due to it's wide soundstage some people can feel this cable is not so precise. They are totally wrong. Of course this is a big compliment in a way, because supra's not-in-your-face-caracter sounds like music is just there and not coming from only 2 loudspeakers. I can recommend this cable to anyone who loves a smooth and precise sound, a lot of detail and a big soundstage.

Strength:

highly affordable speaker cable

Weakness:

not a very good looking cable

This is truely an affordable speaker cable for most music lovers who'd like to spend most free time enjoying your favourite music. The SUPRA PLY 3,4 is not a revealing speaker cable for those sophisticated listeners, but altogether, the cable can bring you the most natural sound that keep you in front of your system for hours.
