Reading all of the glowing reviews below and the need for an upgraded sub cable drove me to the stores yesterday. First stop, bought the Monster SW-250THX interconnect (6m) for $50. Later in the afternoon, I stopped by a favorite high end shop, where I was chided for spending my money at a chain electronics store and informed that MIT Terminator 6 cable is available in 10' and 20' single lengths with subwoofer applications in mind. I was also told that MIT would smartly "out-perform" the monster product. I've got MIT speaker cables and I love them...and I'm always up for a good face-off, so I bought the MIT wire (20 feet for $35) and a monster "Y" adaptor ($15). [note: same total cost as the Monster product!].
THE COMPARISON:
I used a couple of bass-heavy CDs and some select DVD scenes for test material. I started with my current cheap sub cable (entry level Monster), then moved to the Monster SW-250THX, then to the MIT Terminator 6. All volume levels on my preamp, amp and the sub's amp remained at the same level throughout the comparison.

THE RESULTS:
Switching from the cheap cable to the Monster THX sub cable brought a nice, audible improvement. Depth increased slightly, bass was more controlled and output level (didn't measure) remained about the same to my ear. Overall, I got the improvement I expected. Satisfied, I then switched to the MIT Terminator 6, expecting similar performance. GEEZ, the MIT just stomped all over Monster!! The room came alive, the signal was audibly louder (at least 2 db..again not measured), bass was more full yet controlled/musical and significantly deeper. It was as though my dual 12" sub became a 15" or 18" sub. This was far and away the most dramatic improvement I've ever heard from a cable in a one-to-one comparison. If I hadn't experienced it myself, there was no way I would have expected such a dramatic improvement (and remember I paied the same for both cables!).

CONCLUSIONS:
Overall, the Monster cable did everything previous reviewers have said it would do and for that I give it a deserving four stars. I've got to save that fifth star for the MIT. I returned the Monster cable last night. I could have lived very happily with it, had I not bought the MIT, but I'm glad I did. Before posting this, I read the reviews posted for the MIT Terminator 6. Not surprising, every reviewer mentions improved bass.

Strength:

the only cable I could find in 20ft length

Weakness:

way overpriced

Since my sub was close to 20ft from the receiver I had to use this cable because it was the only I could find in that length (either that or the CC sales rep was trying to make a buck). I then decided to move the sub closer to the main speakers and replaced the Monster with a Radio Shack gold video cable. Either the sub sounds better now due to the RS cable, or the new position, or a little of both. Don't pay extra for this cable, it's not worth it.

Strength:

QUALITY GOLD CONNECTORS

Weakness:

PRICE

I never thought I would pay $60 for 25 ft of cable but I did and is worth every penny. My powered sub sounds so much better now, less boomy and tighter bass. Before installing this cable my bass seemed localize (you could tell where my sub was located), now it seems to fill the room. If you are currently running 16 ga. speaker wire to your line level input on your sub like I was, do yourself a favor and get one.

What a crock! A subwoofer cable?? I am using Monster Interlink 400MKII's (2 meter run), and compared them to the subwoofer cable. My 2 audiophile freinds and myself do NOT hear any difference between the Interlink's and the SUB SPECIFIC cable!! And we are using Apogee speakers with a Velodyne sub, and Onkyo Grand Integra stuff all around. The subwoofer cable is a good cable, but I don't see how it differs from other half-decent cable made for the full freq range.

Strength:

very sensitive

Weakness:

none

this is a good cable. i noticed it drastically improved my bass/sub-woofer sensitivity. before the switch to this cable, my sub-woofer would cut off after a while when being played at low volumes. now the sub stays on at low volumes and comes back on(when off from lack of bass signal(s)over time) at the slightest touch of a bass signal(vocal bass from radio broadcast,etc.). worth the money, but try to get it at a cheaper price if you can.

I bought most of my audio equipment before I knew about this site. God am I sorry. The reviews on this cable are totally right, it makes a huge difference. Although I am using it on a Cambridge SoundWorks PSW II (I know it is a piece of trash, with the constant bottoming out and all that - I am buying a Velodyne CT-120 within the next couple of weeks), the bass quality changed the moment I took out my $10 cheapo' cable and put this one on. I have a Monster HTS2000 power conditioner on order and if the difference is as noticeable as this, I am one happy man. 5 speakers for a great (and cheap $40) cable.

I purchased this cable a few months ago. It has not disappointed me. My sub used to sound bloated. This cable really does improve the output. The bass is tight and dynamic. I am able to hear and feel bass output from watching local, cable broadcasts, which was not a reality, before. It is incredible.
I run a JBL PS-120 sub out of a Yamaha RXV-890 receiver. This cable is highly recommended and definitely a necessity in a hometheater (as are Monster THX-certified speaker cables, which is a seperate review).
