Strength:

Exceptional transparency, removed the viel between the music and me. Enhanced bass, treble and midrange details.

Weakness:

Careful system matching is a must else the sound might become etched or unpleasant

DO not use this cables if you are using any budget CD players, else it might expose any flaws your CD players have....

I am shocked by the transparency of this cable. Every details juz poured out! As my AMP is very revealing, by sloting this cable between my amp and CD player, I am essentailly listening to the way my CP player actually sound!

The cable has the ability to make the music more exciting to listen to, extended treble and bass makes this possible. Midrange is really really smooth without a hint of Siblance.

Use it correcly, you get to unleashed the full potential of your system. No doubt about it, this cable is a giant killer!

Strength:

Smooth. exciting, detailed, attention grabbing!

Weakness:

Upfront sound might not suit everyone

Great highs, tight and power bass, liquid mids. The cable is fluidly smooth, yet extremly detailed. However vocals are slightly upfront and percussion instruments sounds a bit louder. Other than these minor complains, these cable excel in everything else.

Go get one and try!

Strength:

1.) Available in any length. 2.) Flexibility. 3.) Good sound for the price

Weakness:

1.) Not as clean, sweet, transparent, and neutral as KCAG

If you want something more detailed, extended, and dynamic than the PBJ, but can't afford the KCAG, go with the Silver Streak. Unless you can afford the megabucks cables, you should start off with the Silver Streak (and Kimber 4TC), and upgrade the rest of your system. After you've assembled the system of your dreams, THEN you may consider replacing the Silver Streak with KCAG or better. But until you actually put together that dream system, just stick with the Silver Streak, and don't even think about replacing it. Just enjoy the detail, focus, and dynamics of Silver Streak. Appreciate the fact that the Silver Streak lets you hear more of what your components really sound like. Silver Streak thankfully will not add bass boom, midrange warmth, and other gross sonic colorations.

I wish I could give the Silver Streak 3.30 stars for overall rating. The three-star rating looks kinda low, and doesn't really do justice to the Silver Streak.

Strength:

Enhanced soundstage, smoother vocals, extended treble

Weakness:

Can become too bright

I found this .5 meter length worked well between my preamp and amp. However, when I tried another length between the CD and preamp the system became too bright, it may have been exposing the limitations of the player. I used a length of Kimber PBJ to the CD instead, and everything sounded wonderful! I took the savings and am enjoying the results. System synergy is everything when working with interconnects.

Strength:

Impresive bass reproduction, most of all in terms of transient response than in the own bass extension.
Mid range natural and relaxed. Soundstage depth accuracy.Transparency.

Weakness:

Treble a little over emphasized. Soundstage width diminished in clasical recordings.
Overpriced.

I curried out many up grades in my system in the last year, and it's really difficult the identification/ correlation of each one in the final results, because the simultaneousness of some of them, this is the case of connectors, purchased at the same time that pre and power amps. In any case, I do believe that most of the spectacular reproduction of Shefield Lab's 'Lincoln Mayorga & Distinguished Colleagues' or Opus 3 'Sweedish Jazz Kings' is the result of the Kimber Silver Streak inclusion; soundstage is not only precise but holographic and the pace and rhythm is contagious, with an exciting drums transient rising response, and a tremendous impression of pressence of performers forwarded towards the listener. Lincoln Mayorga's 'America' is a good example of this new imaging and feeling.
Vocals improvement - female one's - really noticeable, as it happens with any of Chesky's Sarah K. records.
In clasical, the results are if not frustrating at least of less impact. The same atractive bright mentioned before for other type of music, produces here the effect of an excess of bright in the upper notes, being more evident in the percusion instruments. At the same time, I have the impression of a narrower soundstage: the Concergtbown stage in Decas's Shostakovitch Jazz Suites 1&2, occupies 4 or 5 meters less in width than before. I could say the same with BMG-RCA Victor recording of Mendelsohn's 'Walpurgisnacht' performed by the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. May be, it's too soon to conclude because the overlap of improvements and the short evaluation time of only 2 weeks. So, it will be necessary to take more time, among other reasons, because the initial phase of some of the hardware recently added. In spite of that, absolutely advisable product if you can pay its frighting price.

Strength:

Pretty to look at, but very little else

Weakness:

Vastly overpriced

I tried this interconnect on the 4 week sale-or-return scheme. At the time I was using an Alchemist Kraken integrated amp with Cambridge Audio Pacific interconnect costing £30, Mission speakers and Goertz MI-1 speaker cable.

Kimber recommend 500 hours (3 continuous weeks) of burn-in. I listened to the same CDs after 0, 100 and 500 hours but the cable didn't change at all - unlike most others I've burned in, some of which changed dramatically. The performance of the Silver Streak was virtually identical to that of my existing £30 cable, but at 7 times the cost. I've subsequently tried several interconnects which blow the Kimber away at far lower cost. I can't see where the price of this cable comes from - and it certainly isn't justified. I get the impression that Kimber have magnified the price simply to persuade people to upgrade - "it costs more therefore it must be better - oh yes I think I can hear an improvement now". Also known as Emperor's new clothes syndrome.

Ahhh! Finally, a silver cable you can afford! I compared this cable to Kimber's own PBJ and Hero interconnects and came up with the following observations:PBJ is a great budget interconnect at the lowest possible price!
Hero is a decent step up from PBJ in terms of treble clarity and easily has better bass.
Silver Streak has a speed and clarity that neither PBJ nor Hero can touch. Actually, Hero comes fairly close but the Streak has much tighter bass and just an overall cleaner sound. Some may find the Streak a bit bright in some systems. I attribute this to it's neutrality. If you have a crappy system it will let you know! I've changed my CD player several times while using the streak and as the player got better so did the overall sound. You can even save money by just running the streak from your CD player and PBJ through the rest.(tape deck, etc.) If you aren't afraid of soldering I would recommend finding the streak cable unterminated and just adding your own RCA's as this will cut your price down by $60 or so. Oh, in case you're one of those people who can't hear differences in cables...buy some better speakers. I put $300 worth of cables on my buddy's top 'o the line Kenwood rack system with his MTX tower speakers with dual 12" woofers per side and even I couldn't hear the difference! But switching to a simple NAD integrated amp and CD player with some budget high end speakers from Paradigm made me a believer! I could EASILY hear the differences and when my friends came over they could too!!! He did end up buying some Kimber speaker wire which tightened up his boomy bass!
Anyway, happy listening!

Strength:

Detail, Neutrality, Sound

Weakness:

None

Just upgraded from PBJ and what a difference. Highs are more clean and ambient. Soundstage is opened up. Detail, detail, detail. Bass is tight and well defined. My system has never sounded better. I highly recommend this cable for all high quality systems.

Strength:

Detailed full sound, excellent 3D soundstage

Weakness:

high end could be sweeter

Silver Streak is very good cable, easily prefferable to
Hero or PBJ. Much more detailed than Hero, fuller sound than
PBJ. Capable of excellent 3D soundstaging, for $150 for 1/2 meter connect a good bargain. If you listen only to classical you will be very happy with this cable, if you listen to rock/alternative you will find some recordings
will sound a bit bright, words that end in "s" have slight
snake hiss.

I could be happy living with Silver Streak......until I heard Silver Audio Silver Buttet 4. Here is a silver cable that is actually has sweet sounding mid and high range, vocals sound dead on, my system cable now, $175 for 1/2 meter. I admit that Silver Streak has a bit more detail in high end, but overall Silver Bullet sweet sound is preferable for most listening. To read reviews look under former name D-Lin Silver Bullet 4.

My overall rating for Silver Streak is 4 1/2, would have been 5 if I had not heard Silver Bullet 4.

My system is:
Musical Fidelity E624 CDP
Musical Fidelity A3 integrated amp
Spendor SP1 3 way British monitors (classic from late 1980s)
Silver Audio Silver Bullet 4 connect, 1/2 meter
Kimber 8TC speaker cable, 6ft runs

Strength:

Clarity, Wide open and defined soundstage, Well controlled bass and midrange, Crisp Highs

Weakness:

Can be a little bright

An excellent interconnect that is very good value for money. The bass is tight and well defined, the mids nicely rounded and the highs are crystal clear.

A definite improvement over PBJ, and much smoother than QED's Silver Spiral.

Highly recommended for a variety of systems.
