I recently won a pair interconnects in auction at AudiogoN.com for $70. I replaced my Kimber Hero 1M pair ($120 retail, less at OneCall) from my CD player to Pre-amp. They are much clearer. The strings section on my classical albums is much more realistic, I can "hear" the wood in solo strings now. The bass is also tighter and more refined, on rock music the bass sounds more like a live performance and not just some air pressure being moved around. The Hero's were pretty good (having Replaced Monster M series M550's, also good for only $50)but I like the DH labs Silver Sonic BL-1 Series II better. I bought my second pair at http://www.wenterprisesnw.com/ Donald will sell them for less than the $99 retail (around $85-90)

I won't go to the subjective qualities of this cable, but what I'm going to say is...it is really hard to figure out what is wrong with your system until you experience the right component, these cables are the right stuff...

I just upgraded from Monster M550i to the BL-1s. Instant and dramatic improvement! The music was instantly richer at the high end and details came through much more clearly and naturally. It's amazing how much of an impact these cables can have on a good system!

I found a bigger difference was made with the T-14 Speaker Cable(opposite of what I was expecting) but these wires will DEFINITELY remain in my system replacing the AudioQuest Quartz. For the price, I am thrilled!!!. Highs are crystaline and pure. No harshness up top. A better bottom end too. I cannot express how surprised I am over how much of a difference the Silver Sonics gave. See my review of the T-14 wire elsewhere. Five Stars without hesitation.

After reading all the glowing reviews of these cables, I decided to buy a pair; after a couple months use, here are my opinions...
First, they are worlds better than the entry-level stuff, but I was frankly disappointed with them- very bright & edgy, with somewhat compressed dynamics. They were really rough out of the box, but after 48 hrs. burn-in, they smoothed out a good bit.

I compared them to others I had around (Monster 550, Audioquest Turquoise, Kimber PBJ, Hero and Silver Streak). I would place the BL-1s right in the middle, well behind all the Kimber models, but vastly better than the others listed; as always, your mileage may vary.

I tried them hooked up to three different systems, and played both CDs and LDs through them (used as a source interconnect only). Some of the equipment used:

B&W 805s (both Matrix & HTM)
Pioneer CLD-79 LD/CD player
Marantz SR-96
Yamaha DSP-A3090
Sansui G-7700
Sony CDP-CE505 with AMC DAC8 D/A converter

What's good and what's bad.

Bad: I waited so long to change the Monster Cable Interconnects that I used before.

Good: Better lows, highs, and detail.

A friend said it best "it's like somebody cleaned the windows and let the sun come in".

The sad thing is I paid nearly three times as much for the Monster Cable Interconnects.

I picked up a couple of one meter sets of BL-1s up at the Audio Alternative in Atlanta. While $99 a pair may not sound like a lot of money to some, it is to me so after spending a lot of time auditioning cables (thank you Alan), I popped for DH Labs interconnects and speaker wire. The one thing I was told in advance before I left the store is that they take a lot of break in. It's a good thing that was brought up because they sounded pretty harsh when I first tried them at home. I put them in a tape loop of an older preamp to let them cook for a few days. BIG difference. They are very liquid now, detailed and balanced throughout the frequency range On the Loreena McKennit Mask and Mirror CD they are very revealing, throwing a deep soundstage. On the new Dianne Krall, they make her sound just lush. They sound as good to me as some Audioquest and Kimber cables at anywhere from twice to five times the money. I have a few friends with money so I can occasionally borrow really expensive stuff to listen to. In my system, I'd have to spend a lot more just to equal the sound. What more can you ask for at $99? The only reason they don't get five stars is I don't have them in balance interconnect.

This one is truly wonderful little cable. The music with this cable is very clean and "airy". My first impression - incredible dynamics and silence, bass extension and timbre, tons of detail. You can hear every bit of your musical information. And I paid only $90 US for 1 pair. Cheap for the quality it gives. Certainly much better than those expensive trash monster cables etc...

I ordered this interconnect after reading many of the rave reviews on this site. Although still not through the burn-in stage, these are far better performers than my old acoustic research pro interconnects. Voices are clear and focused and bass response has drastically imporoved, to the point that I needed to adjust the gain on my bass amplifier (my speakers are bi-amped). Soundstage has widened slightly (although my speakers are not regarded as having an excessively wide soundstage) and speaker transparency has improved. Highly recommended.

Got this cable about 2 weeks ago to replace M1000i Monster Cable interconnects. I was quite satisfied with Monsters, but after a conversation with a dealer decided to give DHLabs a try.
Dealer (AudioNut.com, most pleasant and knowledgeable I have ever dealt with, by the way) said that the advantage of DHLabs will come through after 50 hours of burn-in. He was wrong... I have heard a significant change for the better immediately. Nevertheless, I have run some pink noise through for 3 days. Improvement, in what was a nicely sounding system, was noticeable and significant.

First of all, sound is more transparent. Soundstage is better, highs are "silver sonic", and bass is more countoured and realistic. I think this is the best cable for the money. Highly recommended.

Tested on:
Rega 3 Planar turntable
McIntosh C-15 pre-amp
Harmonic Recovery Sistem
ATI 1502 power amp
Magnepan 1.6 speakers.
